Spring at last ! :o)

We’ve had some lovely weather here lately (albeit on the chilly side sometimes)
so I’d like to show you how my new raised flower bed is doing ….
I put a few Hellebores in. I didn’t know how they’d do but they seem to be happy enough :-
I hope they’ll fill out a bit in time.
I planted some bulbs there last autumn, and they are putting on a colourful show :)
Tete-a-tete :-
Jetfire :-
This little Arabis is going to trail down the wall (I hope)
together with a white one nearby :o)
I’ve tried to push some creeping Campanulas and Aubrietias in between the bricks, and I hope they’ll catch, but I haven’t got a photo of them.
This is the view from the little road that goes past my new flower bed. I see it when I’m down there …
I hope you like the way my new flower bed is coming along.
I’ll show some more photos of it later on :o)
Enjoy the spring ! :D

Oh Hywel I wish I had some of your good earth, everything picks up so well in your garden and your raised bed is the same, it looks so attractive out there now, I can see that Bella approves....

IT looks brilliant :)

Isn't lovely to see the spring flowers all in bloom.
Your raised bed is going to look great.
Bella seems to like the fine weather too.

I really like your flower bed and Spring colours are visible all around your garden.
It is a wonderful time of year and just needs to warm up a bit now!

Bella seems to approve!
A lot of top soil must've gone in that bed. I think I remember your earlier blog about the building of the bed but I didn't realise it was that big. Let's hope the plants in the cracks take as they will soften the walls and look lovely!

Your new raised bed is looking very colourful Hywel, spring has certainly sprung for you!!

Its settling in well isn't it. All it needs now is some fuchsias, lol. Your Felis catus has overwintered well and seems to be enjoying the sunshine. It looks very much at home in that spot.

You're lucky your hellebores took. Must be the good soil and clean country air! And the lovely views of course. Nice to see Bella contemplating your work.

Thanks for your comments.
Gnarly G Yes I did find the potatoes. They are almost ready to plant now.
And yes it will probably rain for the bank holiday lol ...
Paul it took 3 tons of topsoil ! It was very good quality and not that expensive either :)
Steragram there are some Fuchsias in there already, including the Lady Thumb you sent me. I hope to put more there during the spring and summer :)
Felis catus had an abscess last week and had to be taken to the vet. She had it drained and was given an antibiotic injection.

Beautiful cat . . . and the raised bed is looking pretty good too!

Thank you :)

Your new bed is looking well established now and very colourful, it's done very well, probably because Bella warms up the soil wherever she rests :)
25 Mar, 2016
Looking good, Hywel!
25 Mar, 2016
Thank you both :)

Always Beautiful , Hywel :-)

Thank you :)

Poor puss, hope she is much better now. I wonder how she came to develop that?
29 Mar, 2016
The vet thought she had it as the result of a bite. She's all right now.

I love the new raised bed. Sorry to hear Bella has had an abscess but I'm glad she's better now.
30 Mar, 2016
Thank you :)

That's a relief. We once lost a cat with an abscess on his head, presumably from an infected claw in some feline disagreement. They can be nasty things.
30 Mar, 2016
Abscess can be a bite from a tick !!! even if the animal has been treated the tick dies when feeding and doesn't always drop off. Areas with lots of foxes are the worse.
31 Mar, 2016
Just the ithought of a tick or a leech gives me the heeby jeebies...
31 Mar, 2016
There are lots of foxes around here ...

I wouldn't have thought a tick could get underneath all that fur, but as they can bite sheep I guess they can.

they are tiny before they gorge themselves.
its going to be worse this year after the mild wet winter.
