Aberglasney (second part)

Following on from yesterday…..
At Aberglasney there are walled gardens, and the flowering perenials are a wonderful sight in the summer time. There are some I am familiar with, and also more unusual ones.
Here are photos of a few. I have named the ones I know, but they didn’t have any labels on them. So thank you Andrew for naming the others. I have added them on
Romneya coulteri
Lysimachia ciliata Firecracker
Campanula
Campanula and Sedum
Sidalcea
Leucanthemum
Veronicastrum
Veronicastrum
Crocosmia
That’s just some.
In the grounds there are large trees and woodland walks aswell as gardens.
There are a few acres of woods with walks through them
There is a little cafe where you can have food or just a cup of tea. It overlooks the pond
There’s a shop aswell where you can buy souvineers and plants, and so much more of the grounds.
Fruit trees and vegetable garden :-
Glasshouses , but they were closed when I was there :-
Another view of the cloister garden :-
Another view of the cafe in the distance :-
This next one is the best view I have of it. I put it on yesterday aswell :-
When we last went there I had my mother in a wheel chair. I was able to go in free because I was classed as a carer.
However the paths were rather steep in places, and because of the gravel it was dificult to push a wheel chair, especially on a hot day. Anyway it was very enjoyable even so.
I would like to go again in the spring to see if there are any bulbs. If I do I’ll take photos to show you

Thank you. I didn't think this blog was very good myself. It only shows a few plants.

a lovely place to visit Hywel...... with all its plants and trees.......

It looks wonderful there Hywel, I would love to go.
I thought the Sidalcea looked wonderful en masse, also the Marguerites (if that is what they were). Flowers always look best en masse, I think, which can be a little difficult in a small garden. If you scale the clumps down to match the garden size, it still leaves you with less chance of having lots of different varieties.
You are very lucky to have such a lovely place to visit near you.

Thoroughly enjoyed this 'not very good' blog, lol. Don't put yourself down, Hywel. I too love the sedum with the campanulas but dislike the yellow flowers on the lysimachia. That thistley thing looks stunning against the beautiful blue sky. It must be lovely to walk in those woods on a hot day - if we ever get any more!

Hywel - I've enjoyed your two blogs about Aberglasney. I rmember the TV series about the restoration project a few years ago but it is very impressive now.
The 'poppy' in the first picture is romneya coulteri - it's one of those plants that hates disturbance but once you've got it going, it can be a thug in the wrong place (a friend planted it against the house and it came up in the living room between the floor and the wall!)
Number 4 (the yellow flower with purple foliage) is lysimachia ciliata 'Firecracker' (another one with invasive roots but a good foliage colour when grown in full sun)
The white daisy looks like a leucanthemum (which was known as Shasta Daisy in my grandmother's garden) and the pink spikes are veronicastrum
