Good luck to the GoY WELLIE OLYMPIANS of all nationalities

Good luck to the GoY WELLIE OLYMPIANS of all nationalities

Conker is a Shetland Sheepdog ...
... so he is representing the Shetland Isles ...

... and he's holding the Shetland flag. :o)

His Wellie Olympic event is SYNCHRONISED PLANTING ...
... with Heuchera Lime Marmalades.

The red, white and blue theme in the background is made up of some of my favourites ...

Red ... roses inherited from my mother.

White ... lavender .. Lavandula angustifolia Arctic Snow

Blue ... Campanula cochlearifolia Elizabeth Oliver

Let the games begin ;o)

He's not the one lighting the flame later on tonight is he Terra?

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Pim ...
We've been rumbled !
This morning Crocus budgie, Conker and Truffle were all ringing their toy bells ... and I wouldn't be surprised if they get involved with lighting the Olympic flame as well ;o)

27 Jul, 2012

Oh,this is just great..well thought out Terra..and don't the boys look proud ? lovely pic :o)

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Sandra ... Glad you like this one :o)

27 Jul, 2012

Morning Terra - what a picture, made me laugh. I do think Conker looks great. Jx

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Jane ..
thank you ..
Conker wanted to carry all the wellies too. Lol.
x

27 Jul, 2012

Oh gawd, bless him. Is he completely better now after his cancer thing. Jx

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Jane ...
Thanks for asking. There was no "cure" promised. One in ten dogs are lucky enough to have "durable remission" and Conker is thankfully one of those, now three years on from his chemotherapy.

I feel very lucky ... he looks so well and happy, enjoying life.
I have to be a bit careful with his throat, but otherwise all seems well. x

27 Jul, 2012

That's brilliant. I was wondering how he was getting on the other day. He always looks so well and happy on the pics, hard to imagine him as poorly as he was. I think it's a bit like people, as long as they are busy and happy and have a purpose, it seems to keep some illness away. Jxx

27 Jul, 2012

Conker loves to be involved in whatever I'm doing ... gardening, charity dog shows etc. On some of his older photos, it is evident just how much hair he lost during treatment, but that has re-grown well.

Yes, you are right about "busy and happy" creating a positive outlook. :o) xxx

27 Jul, 2012

My goodness me, I just LURVE this dog!!!

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Sgbabe ...
Thanks ... he is sooo cute and helpful ... ;o)

27 Jul, 2012

So glad Conker is well enough to be happy and enjoying life at the moment. I hope he scores well in his synchro planting ... Go Conker :o)))

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Gem ..
Conker says thank you. He's feeling fit ..
His "Heuchera Rehearsals" have gone very well ;o)))

27 Jul, 2012

Nice to see Conker flying the flags with such aplomb
Good luck in the welly planting event.......

That doesn't look quite right?....... my brains still addled from all the bells. :0)))

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Pam. Lol. Thanks.
I'm hoping Conker will plant the Heucheras, and not the Wellies ! :o)))

27 Jul, 2012

Or the heucheras in the wellies.......

Will they all be watching the opening ceremony?

27 Jul, 2012

All looking forward to the Olympics ...
... London weather forecast next week is rather wet ... might need the wellies ;o)

27 Jul, 2012

27 Jul, 2012

27 Jul, 2012

Nice to see Conker flying both the Shetland flag and the saltire Terra. I'm sure Conker will win Gold!
What disciplines are Truffle and Crocus competing in TT? or is that another blog?
I'm hoping that his chosen anthem is ''FLOWER OF SCOTLAND'' :)

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Scottish...
Flower of Scotland sounds good ... Conker will play the tune on his toy piano ;o)
Crocus budgie is millet-lifting in the feather-weight category ...

27 Jul, 2012

Hi Conker ! How are you enjoying this summer weather ?
I like your two flags :o)

27 Jul, 2012

Definitely a gold winner, TT, bless him :)
Millie is entering the 'most sniffs in 10 metres' race and Poppy the 'longest sit in on dud eggs' competition. The tortoises, of course, have done a joint entry for the 'crawl' but they insist no water should be involved :)

27 Jul, 2012

Excellent - Conker looks so proud!

27 Jul, 2012

28 Jul, 2012

Thanks Carol ...
Conker says hello :o)

28 Jul, 2012

I thought I saw Conker on that speedboat on the Thames last night ... then realised it was only David Beckham - I bet he wouldn't be half as good as Conker at synchronised heuchera planting ;o))

28 Jul, 2012

Hi Gem ... Lol.
Conker has been practising with his Heucheras ...
... could be his gold medal event ... :o)

31 Jul, 2012

Hello, Terra, is there any sportsman on OG in LOndon who is really from Scotland?
P.S. Martikan has got bronze :)) Could bring gold home...ach.

31 Jul, 2012

Well Katarina, I can definitely tell you that there is one who is not only from Scotland but from our little town of Carnoustie...the distance runner Eilish McColgan...GO EILISH!!

31 Jul, 2012

Andy Murray .. Scotland ... :o)

31 Jul, 2012

ooop, got carried away there TT..forgot to say...what an amazing collection of 'colliewellies' you have there! I expect to see Conker modelling them soon! Or perhaps Truffle will be entering the Olympic Wellie Throwing Contest?

31 Jul, 2012

Sir Chris Hoy (Edinburgh)

31 Jul, 2012

Lol Karen ...
I reckon Truffle and Molly could together win Gold ..
... if they team up for the Wellie Throwing Doubles Slalom ???

31 Jul, 2012

:)) Sir Chris Hoy is for what discipline?

31 Jul, 2012

Chris Hoy .. Cycling... not in wellies... Lol.

31 Jul, 2012

Ach, TT, if I only understand what is wellies, lol...

31 Jul, 2012

So young and already Sir?

31 Jul, 2012

Yes, he is incredible....a lot of work inspiring young people, developing the sport of cycling, charities and many sporting achievements.....sorry, got carried away again!

31 Jul, 2012

p.s. don't tell everyone...but I'm not even Scottish!! lol ;)

31 Jul, 2012

:)) Sounds like interesting man. Will google him. Did he win already any medal on OG or is he before competition now?

31 Jul, 2012

He already has a few Katarina.

31 Jul, 2012

I meant this year :)

31 Jul, 2012

Yeah, he is sympathetic guy :)

31 Jul, 2012

Sorry! :D There is a scottish woman in the football team too.....

1 Aug, 2012

Was it flowers of scotland that the children sang at the opening ceremony?

I,m an adopted Scot too.......I,ve got my buspass to prove it. :0))))

Wellies a well known British fashion item invented I believe by The Duke of Wellinton......

I kid you not Katarina.........

1 Aug, 2012

In the London Olympics opening ceremony, the Czech team wore amazing blue Wellies ... really snazzy ;o)

1 Aug, 2012

Yes they did sing Flower of Scotland..at Edinburgh Castle I think. Not my favourite Scots song....but there you go....up here they can't resist having a go at the English at every opportunity! lol Thankfully, the English can take it!

1 Aug, 2012

Hi TT, I am Slovak, not Czech, so their boots did not move me to cry. Their Olympic dresses were made in China, lol.
Pamg@That´s interesting what you wrote about Duke Wellinton and wellies. I did not know that. But I must say, I am not overindulged by this type of shoes. I prefer shoes, which enable the skin to breathe. So we are leather shoes funs in the family. My grandfather was the master at Bata, the founder of the world shoe empire during economic crisis in thirties. My father sometimes mention that all workers in his factory got leather shoes for winter before Christmas (each memeber of the family one pair), full-carriage of wood and medical care for free. My father got pneumonia, when all employees had to flee to mountains in winter 1944 to avoid Germans. Bata managed for him the first penicillin produced in Czechoslovakia under the name BF Mykoin 510. Important to say at the end, that penicillin was invented by Scottish biologist Fleming :))

1 Aug, 2012

lol...brilliant family history Katarina...even though no Scots in there! :D

1 Aug, 2012

Lol Karen ;o)

1 Aug, 2012

I like somehing called Derry boots, they are insulated wellies very dry and warm but comfy too, they last well I must have this pair for about 20 years

And Well Done Wiggy!,!

1 Aug, 2012

Hi Pam ...
bought your Derry boots when you were sweet sixteen ? ;o)
They are wearing well ... :o))

1 Aug, 2012

Ah if only....it was when I had the ponies and the dogs and spent a lot of time in muddy fields so they have had some wear, they've retired to the seaside now and sometimes go paddling with me

1 Aug, 2012

Lol. Well-earned Derry-wellie retirement ;o)

1 Aug, 2012

:0)))

1 Aug, 2012

Karen@maybe, I was caught by boot story. But at least one Scottish was there. It is taught in all books that Fleming was Scottish. Is this information wrong?

1 Aug, 2012

Kat ...
Sir Alexander Fleming, FRSE, FRS, FRCS(Eng)
(6 August 1881 – 11 March 1955) was a Scottish biologist and pharmacologist.

1 Aug, 2012

Thank you TT. Did you hear, Karen? :))) I did not put Sir before, you know, it is not title we use, we call all scientists by their full names or surnames and we know that theere was just one Einstein and one Fleming. Both great, but the Scottish one was more practical for mankind :)

1 Aug, 2012

lol great pic of conker Terra :o))

1 Aug, 2012

Thanks Sandra ...
Conker, Truffle and Crocus are all enjoying the Olympics on TV :o)))

1 Aug, 2012

I guess Casper watches TV during the day, and tells you about the medallists ? ;o)

1 Aug, 2012

yes your right there Terra, he was excited at the two Golds today, wasnt keen on the badminton antics though haha

1 Aug, 2012

LOL LOL ... Casper could have done a better job than some of those badminton players at shoving the shuttlecock over the net. ;o)

1 Aug, 2012

haha i think your right, they made it so obvious, like kids not wanting to play ;o))

1 Aug, 2012

Well, well, another two Scots doing us proud yesterday..the lovely Michael Jamieson and Heather Stanning! :D I hope Katarina is watching! ;)

2 Aug, 2012

Well done to the Scottish members of our Olympic team :o)))

2 Aug, 2012

I bet Katarina is wishing she never asked now! I'll shut up about it, I promise! I had no idea that one of those rowers was a Scot tbh. and I'd never heard of Jamieson, but what a lovely lad he is...very proud of him.
