today i have been to garstang for a few hours with my sister-in-law, needed to get out as iv not been to good since joe left, upsetting myself and ending up with serious few days of IBS and acid reflux, not good at all, but today felt alot better and off we went to garstang.
had our lunch and purchased a few things from the indoor market, home made things as a treat.
anyway got back about an hour ago and there was a knock on the door, a lovely delievery man with a big box from crocus yippee
took me ages to get into the box, very well packed and secure, anyway after about 10 mins of cursing ahaha i finally got in there to find my lovely new plants, so excting especially as they were free
i have Actaea simplex Atrpurpurea group,,, Philadelphus Manteau d`Hermine,,and finally another heauchera beauty colour to go with my collection of now 7, now just have to read up and decide where they will go, thats the hard part lol, but while i thinking im going to make my apple chutney before my apples go off, hope you had a good day to my friends xxx

Funny, I was going to pm you yesterday, was wondering how you are doing...glad you feel a bit better today San. It's not an easy thing for Mums to cope with. I will have to face it all over again when Callum goes.....oh (sigh) ...........:(((( Keep treating yourself and enjoy your garden!

13 Oct, 2010
Nothing wrong with missing your lads you girls ... they'll be fine. They all sound as if they're enjoying themselves & doing normal 'student' stuff!
It's great to get plant parcels isn't it San? Even if you know they're coming! They all look in very good condition having been in transit too!
Hope you feel better tomorrow my lovely ... you've got some gardening to do!! ;o)
13 Oct, 2010
From what I can see you have a lovely neat garden sanbaz, wish mine was half as tidy. Tell me ...how do you get free plants?
13 Oct, 2010
I haven't asked him yet Sanbaz but as it is Christmas in about ten weeks he should be home in about nine weeks!
13 Oct, 2010
I'm sorry to hear you have been so down in the dumps San , it will get better .. ( big hug ) I'm glad your parcel arrived to cheer you up , and what a fabulous lot .. wow ! :o))
13 Oct, 2010
What a great choice you made Sandra, nothing like a bit of planting to lift the spirits Take care!
13 Oct, 2010
San keep you chin up, he will be home before you know it........lovely plants, I do like buying from Crocus (even better when you have them as a gift) your like me, open and in the ground, as you say can always move them at a later date.
13 Oct, 2010
Hi Sanbaz, you are doing the right thing - gardening is so therapeutic. I had a Crocus delivery this week too: fantastic quality plants, but SO well packed that my husband had to unpack them for me! (I have a mild low-energy problem). Luckily I have occasional help in the garden, so my Kolkwitzia, Euonymus alatus and Carex are now in, and keeping me smiling :)
14 Oct, 2010
Thats the way to do it San, if I get anything for my garden I have to sort them first and get right annoyed with myself if for some reason I have to put the garden on hold..
I`m beginning to think you dont want a lawn, lol,....
Sorry you`ve been a bit down but the main thing is that your Joe has settled in and enjoying himself, the time will soon pass and he`ll be home again for that unmentionable holiday.....
14 Oct, 2010
San...you know what is ahead, don't you? You'll get your household/garden all organized to your liking...set up a routine that suits and bamb....Joe will be back home for a break and out the window will go all your new found freedom. You won't believe me....but it's true! It happened to us (didn't mean we were unhappy to have our son home though...).
Keep smiling, San. :)

14 Oct, 2010
You have some nice plants there Sandra :o). Let us know where you plant them ?
14 Oct, 2010
thanx hywel, iv planted two around the pond border at the back because they grow quite tall and heauchera in my raised border at the front, so will see how they go next year and decide then if they need to be moved ;o))
14 Oct, 2010
Thanks Sandra. I hope you didn't hurry to plant them just because I said that lol. I hope you're feeling better now. It must be a strain for you.
14 Oct, 2010
lol no hywel i am very impatient and soon have them in place, cant wait hahah,
im alot better hywel, trying to keep focused, calling joe at 7pm as arranged lol then i can talk to him without others about, as he cant talk if that happens, but its going to take time to ajust, thanx again hywel x
14 Oct, 2010
It's early days Sandra. You're just being a caring mother. My mother worried about her 2 sons until the day she died lol. You'll probably be the same. It's natural. But also natural for a child to leave home.
14 Oct, 2010
your right hywel, im just like that and cant help it but i dont want to smother joe either, just cost me over £4 for a quick call, he`s on different mobile to me, iv told him we will have to talk on an internet phone, costs nothing hahah
14 Oct, 2010
:o) that's a good idea Sandra !
14 Oct, 2010
some nice plants there san, you geting that H. bug lol . i started spliting some of mine now . like trifids round the garden now. am love all the diff colour there are and collecting them as well.
14 Oct, 2010
I'm sorry to hear that you've been poorly, Sandra. I do remember what it was like when our two left home. I cried when our daughter went to Uni - talk about 'empty nest syndrome'! The time will go fast, you'll see. It's great that you can talk to each other as well - and I love your plants! That was a bit of luck, wasn't it? :-)
14 Oct, 2010
thanx hywel, iv changed my mobile tarrif to so getting 10mins a month and free texts for the same £10 i pay now, so not to bad that way if not online i can still call him and not costing a fortune ;o))just see how it goes,
lol cristina yes iv got the bug, i look out for them when out now just incase i see a different one haha ;o))
thankyou barbara empty nest syndrome is a great name for it, im a little better but cant seem to calm my ibs down at all, normally goes after a few days so still taking my tablets till after weekend then a trip to doctors if its not settled down again, joe has always been my rock through everything and keeps me going when i need help with his brother, i cant believe its time for him to leave home, just glad that he will be home during holidays at least for the next 3 years while at uni, but he wont be back living in blackpool he says, but im not thinking about that till the time comes,
glad you like the plants barbara and was thrilled to have won the voucher, a bit of retail theropy helps doesnt it ;o))) x

San...son's are a wonderful gift. I'm sure that's why we miss them so much. Our son was a godsend to me and also to my husband during my 4 month stay in hospital last year. He was attentive to my needs, co-ordinated things with the various doctors...he was really my advocate as I was unable to do anything. It's a great feeling to know you've raised a responsible and compassionate son and to be proud of their achievements. You'll love seeing Joe's progress through his time at uni...and he will be back with you for hols before you know it. (((hugs)))
15 Oct, 2010
Sorry to hear you`ve been feeling down, its so hard to let them go but as time goes by things will get easier I`m sure.
I got a tingly feeling when I saw the photo of that box and I wasn`t disappointed when you showed us the contents. That Actaea would look spectacular at the back of the pond, pressuming you have room lol. But we keep on managing to find room for them somehow.
15 Oct, 2010
Well done on your win, your plants look lovely.
Don't worry about Joe, he will be having the time of his life and learning how to be independant at the same time. My daughter was at Uni about 17 years ago and she loved every minute, but I know how you feel at the moment.
15 Oct, 2010
thanx Wlass your right sons do tend to be there for mum dont they, im feeling alot better and will look forward to seeing joe come xmas time, its just going to take time to get use to all this change, ;o)
thanx stroller glad you like the plant choices and cant wait to see them flower next year near the pond, and your right we always manage to find a gap somewhere lol
thankyou bellflower its so reasuring to hear of everyones stories and know im not alone in how i feel, thanx for the congrats to and glad you like the plants ;o)

It's great to get a day out to cheer up and distract you from thinking about missing Joe...whatever works, San. Can't go around the emotions, just gotta go through them. Seems you've had a good time and come home to a lovely surprise...I know you've waited awhile for your plants to arrive. :)
Now...to sort out where they'll be placed in your lovely space. Your collection of heauchera's is really mounting up! Enjoy planting out. x
