Exciting time here at the moment. i just love it when the seed tray come out. the last week we have been rebuilding the seed chamber in the tunnel….finding wood to level off the base.

on top of the wood we put an electric under blanket then plastic on top.

then the seed trays were put on top.

still have loads more to sow hopefully finish tomorrow.

there was a bit of excitement when Blod spotted something…

then Ruby and Reggie were interested…

what was it???

a bumble bee in february!!!!!

not surprising with this temp..

lid on and now they are covered with a tarpaulin too. when we have finished sowing the seeds tomorrow i will put the heat on under them and then we will be off and running…

the big job now is to weed and feed all our stock plants.

not many to do..lol

and at least i had a bit of company from the starlings…

thanks for reading
happy gardening..:-)

Well, well, well. What a coincidence that I've been gleening your tomato growing information.

I like the sound of your heating system for the new plants, great stuff Sandra, please keep us updated.

Looks like you have a busy time ahead. Love your dogs x

Oh how lovely! To hear of such doings in the month of February..."perchance to dream", over here! I'm sure there are those, like me, who are a little envious of you for having a handy hubby. I've tried to get mine interested in growing stuff..but he's just happy with his books. such is my life...so I go on goY and enjoy the blogs of my friends who actually build seed starters on a grand scale. I have a small pad that is sized for a gecko cage but it will serve just fine in my little greenhouse. We are planning a vegetable garden this summer and I'm going to call on T. to do some weeding! wish me luck! Hope you have a warm, moist...frost free...spring~ :-) Jeepers! I forgot to ask about the con-trail in the lovely picture of the pine tree/sunset. Was it a meteor? It reminded me of the pics I was looking at of the one in Russia!

my OH works full time so i grab him when i can...but he is passionate about growing toms and marrows. his dad grew championship standard veg when he was growing up.

i will again try a veg patch out side but the year. its going to be smaller as i get too busy in the summer with the nursery and camping and i always loose my veg to the weeds and the beasties...

the contrail belongs to a plane on its way eastwards i cant hear them but its like a high way up there some days.
what sort of winter are you having Lori?

Great progress, Sandra ... and nice to see your doggie helpers :o)

thanks Tt. Blod Reggie and Ruby are useless at weeding....maybe they could learn a few trick so they would be useful like yours...x

Lol. I bet Blod, Reggie and Ruby specialise in
'landscape design' ;o)

20 Feb, 2013

oh yes... especially when they are on the hunt....Ruby can dig a hole big enough to engulf her in minuets....lol

very nice and warming up blog Sandra. I just love the moment when I spot the first green something emerging from the soil. I am always excited too see that.

well - not sure yet Sandra. I am going to have a little veg patch this year - have to sit down and see what to do;-) still too wet to dig the soil.
tried growing lettuce last year - but slugs had them before they even had a chance to grow a bit.
But definitely there will be some veg from the veg patch this year:)

20 Feb, 2013

i love the choosing part......everything is so tempting in the seed catalogues the slugs have my lettuce every year Kasy...i have scaled down my veg patch this year i the hope that i can keep up with it.

An exiting time indeed Sandra..Are you going to be growing lots of unusual varieties again?
I'll be waiting a while till I start sowing as light levels here are so low at the moment and I only have a potting shed not a green house.(so less light)
Lovely to see the dogs again...I still have a picture of them on my favourites when they were much younger!

the dogs love being out in the garden with us Paul. we have to start the toms early to get ahead at the market. but i'm at the stressful moment now where are they? when will they start? they been in 7 days now....patience they say is a virtue...i've turned the gas up now and hopefully there will be some green shoots tomorrow. i think i could spy 1 or 2 when i ccovered every thing tonight but it was dusk. it's Julians birhday tomorrow and hopefully mother nature will give him a couple of green shoots..:-)
