Taking on the brambles ...again...

Well at last today the rain stopped here in Pembrokeshire. I was up early spuds peeled washing on the line for the first time for ages as the sun rose over the valley.
Where to start……so many options but i opted for some bramble clearing. I planted a corridor of hedging about ten years ago with griselinia and escalonia. Over the years they have become one with each other and the brambles have used this time to sneak up and take over the escalonia. The path alongside had become impassable so today with the help of my son in law, control has been regained.
he’s a little camera shy…lol
this area was completely covered in brambles when we started…
this is what is on the other side of the griselinia.
It’s amazing how much gets done when there are 2 of you…
I lasted most of the day but had to give in around 2ish and have a soak in the bath. It gives rain for tomorrow so it back to the paper work and the spring cleaning.
Hope everyone gets some dry weather soon

what are the tyres for sandra are they to keep wire down ,i know how hard it is clearing brambles i have some ground about 2 miles from me where i grew veges but i have not used it for about 5 years and when i went to see how tall the hawthorn had grown i could not get into the small veg area because of brambles and ferns our dad would cry if he was alive to see it i did start with a brush cutter but it was cold and wet but come spring i will try again i know it will be very hard

evening Terra with more rain tomorrow the flood in the valley will get bigger. I never tire of watching it..
its a fishing net Snoopy, used to keep the dogs at bay...the tyres are tied into the bottom to discourage them going under...i used a petrol hedge trimmer and loppers for the brambles they are too thick for my bush cutter. I'm looking forward to a bonfire on the weekend to get rid of the huge pile we made today.
Thanks Sandra i haven't moved since dinner....lol
