Not a painting but not gardening either.

I have loved all the paintings that the very talented artists on GoY have been showing us and wish that I could do it.
Having said that I do sew and make quilts. A couple of friends asked me to design a pattern that they could use to make their own lap quilts [42″ × 52″].
So I designed one using squares and rectangles and made it up from 24 2 1/2" strips of 42" wide fabrics.
The fabrics were not my choice but the coloured ones were given to me. I am looking forward to sharing the pattern with friends. Just need to write it up for them.

Very nice. I love viewing the lovely quilts that are sometimes on show at flower shows. I hate sewing so really admire the time, talent & patience that goes into making them.

We can all do something creative. It's very nice, The pattern and colours give it an 'Aztecy' look.

I love quilts and I admire anyone who can sew them. It takes a lot patience and a real artistic eye. You've obviously got both Sbg.

You've shown us some lovely quilts - have you kept many of them yourself? How long did this one take?

That's the description I was looking for Hywel. Victoria said Peruvian but I knew that wasn't it.
Thanks Waddy.
This one took about 60 hrs Yorks and most that I make are bespoke makes for family and friends. This one and a few others will be for sale. I usually charge 25% on top of the cost of materials. This will be about £35. Unless you are a 'name' like Kaffe Fasset you cant charge an hourly rate as people wouldn't pay for it.
You find the same with most handicrafts sadly, they see it as home made and therefore of a poor quality. Which when I have had to re-stitch seams on 'professionally made' items is a bit of a nonsense.

Yes Paul I do and I was the one in the department who used to make the crosswords for various topics. Though now there are computer programmes to do it for you.
Thank you Balcony it certainly had its moments.
