The sunset the other night was heavily influenced by the Saharan dust in the atmosphere as photo’d by Anget and others.
Here are some of mine.
Sky over the garden.
Sky reflected in the pond.
Lovely pink hue to Hosta Halcyon which has a bluey grey leaf. water droplets after I’d watered the garden.
A lovely species Lily with the sky background.
Arisema speciosum, flash lit hence the dark background.

A super set of photos. Wish I had seen the sunset, looks spectacular. All we got was dust on our cars, had to clean off the windscreens.

Very woo-woo! Love the photo of your pond. Is that enormous greenhouse in your garden, Sbg? Or have you got equally green-fingered neighbours?

It is our greenhouse Ange. When we moved in 26 yrs ago we brought the 10x8 from the previous home and found the frame of another one had been left. No idea what happen to the glass as they were meant to take it with them. So Steve put them end to end and re-glazed. So I am lucky to have a 20x8 ft green house. The nice bit is having a door at each end so we can get a good airflow through.
The neighbours have built a north facing social/bar area which you can see behind the greenhouse.

I envy you the g'house, what a resourceful OH you have!
At least it doesn't sound like you have a hot-tub close by, too...

A wow from me also, lovely photos.

hot tub ?? no that isn't one of our preferred activities. Neighbour had one installed 5 yrs ago, mayhem the first year but it has been idle for the last 2 summers. Loads of rubbish on the cover.

What a great blog, SBG! All the red skies look wonderful with your plants!
I didn't get to see anything special here, in fact I only heard about it through comments on other gardening sites! Saw nothing different from usual here. I didn't even notice there was more dust on the balcony floor or on the plants.

That is a nice photo of Arisema. Using the flash, even during the day, can change the way a flower looks.
We get the siroccos here, and it really changes how everything looks. There was a pressure system over the Azores that forced the winds and heat up through Europe and into the UK. It meant we have had temperatures in the mid-60's and light rain with fog. Today it another overcast day with mist.

What a collection of rare photos which is really beautiful to see. The third one is truly amazing. A most unusual and fascinating blog.

Gorgeous photos. Didn’t see anything special in this area, but the air was a bit dustier & a bit of dust on surfaces, cars etc.

It was magical, my daughter and I were away in our motorhome, not far from home, we spent a few days at Rutland Water, the sky was amazing...
