Feathered friends.

For the last few days our feathered friends have been keeping me company.

Two robins sing to me and then come close to gather worms grubs etc. They both fly off in to the ivy.

Not sure which one this is, the first two photos had the birds down together.

There are also several blackbirds. This one is the bravest as she comes to about 12" from me for worms too.

I love their company.

I love your photos. The garden birds make me happy too.

They are wonderful time-wasters. I expect they diverted you from some of the weeding quite well! They were good at posing too!

I agree with the above. Can watch them being busy for ages. I wouldn’t be without them, my garden friends. Nice clear photos.

Oh yes they are very distracting. And the robins sing so loudly!

wouldn't be without them though.

Put suet out for the front garden robins today as we have had 1 1/2 inches of snow this morning.

I have to get more fat balls today - an absolute priority! They are queuing up!

We are having to shut the up & over garage door behind us, as the robins are taking nesting material in and end up getting shut in if we're not careful. Pesky Pidgeons back pecking out the flowers on the primulas and a marauding Magpie looking at the goldfish.

Hubby shut a wren in my shed the other day, luckily plenty of spiders etc for him/her to eat over night. It flew out quite easily the next morning.

Never had a problem with magpies and the fish Siris, just a heron and a herring-gull.

Love your photos! We no longer have anything but rooks as the cats seem to have frightened them all away. But we did have a buzzard a couple of times last week - not sure what the cats would have made of that - lunch probably, but for them or for it?

It’s so lovely to think they enjoy your company only if it’s to get a meal! I love watching birds feeding from my sitting room. My hedgehog has woken up so now fill his bowl up every day too.

It's lovely when wild birds come so close to us when we are outside! When I had an allotment I would have Blackbirds, Thrushes & Robins around the plot. Once a blackbird came very close to where I was digging on a couple of occasions & I think I had a robin or two as well.

A couple of weeks ago I was walking home from town along a narrow footpath with an old hedgerow on one side & I counted 5 Robins!😃 Can't be 100% sure they were each a different bird but they did seem to come from different directions. I thought it was strange, seeing so many in the space of 5 minutes, as I believe the males are very territorial & chase off rivals!

both males and female robins are territorial. either way seeing them is one of those uplifting birds.

I love the robins, one of my favourite birds but we only get to see one now and again in our garden and there is plenty of food for them, so don't know why!
