Well we have had an addition to our family…..a Staffie puppy!! The search is over!

Everyone say Awwww! lol

He is seven weeks old and we have named him ‘Rocky’, he’ll grow into it…honest! Only had a couple of accidents but everytime he wakes up he gets taken outside, and after every meal, Toffee is not sure but he’s been pretty good so far! Rocky was even sat next to him while Toffee was eating his tea! Mind you he did get his nose batted this morning got a bit too close lol!!

He is giving lots of licks and getting lots of love BUT also some discipline (i don’t mean hitting either just a firm NO) Going to the vets on Wednesday for check up and to find out about jabs etc.,

Any tips on raising puppies would be very welcome, i have done it before but a few years ago now.

I love him, He reminds me of Tammy, my red staffie, now gone :(.. I had 2 staffies from six weeks old and started training them straight away, they are very intelligent so it was easy, just takes time, every day i walked them to a big field and taught them everything there, from staying and lying down, mid run lol. I can honestly say they were a pleasure to train..As Rocky gets older he will need something BIG to chew on, they like to hold onto things with that huge jaw, we used a car Tyre suspended from the washing line Pole lol ..Also Staffies are very Lazy :) I sometimes had to carry them out of the front door for there walks, especially if it were snowing or raining lol.. There very loving, Loyal and devote themselve's to you, there Amazing dogs <3 .. .. Dee..

He's lovely sewingkilla. Advice is: patience, patience and more patience!..lol. Our Rottweiller is now 17 weeks and a big strong boy. He's starting to react to commands and we can't imagine being without him as has fitted in so well with my 12 year old dog Dylan and my two cats...:o)

My Staffie is a brindle, nearly 9 years old. We have such a rapport, I can usually control her with a word. She likes to wrap herself in her blanket, right over her head! They are wonderful with people, especially children, but she doesn't like other dogs much and tends to fight, although she's much better now she's older. I love that honey colour. You'll have a friend for life, I guarantee.

Thanks everyone i think we have chosen well from all your comments, a lot of people have said 'oh no a staffie', they seem to think them dangerous dogs, well any dog is dangerous if treated wrongly! He seems to be a loving little chap at the moment full of mischief like!!! lol makes me laugh but he already has picked up 'sit' and 'paw' he'll do anything for a dog biscuit lol!!! He takes my mind off my health problems and i feel a happier person already.

I'm so glad you're enjoying each others company. I couldn't be without a dog in my life. Alfie, our Rottweiller pup is adorable, but as you say people assume the worst because of their breeds, and it is not the dog but the owners who are at fault. It's great that he is helping you take your mind off your health problems, I'm so pleased for you...:o)

He`s a bonny one Sk and you are in for some fun, pleased for you and your family....

He's adorable. Agree with Dylan, it's usually the owners fault. If they're trained right there should be no problem. We had a Bull Mastiff and he was just wonderful, with the other animals we had and brilliant with my daughters. We have a Boxer and an English Springer. Neither of them are in good health as the Boxer is old, and the Spaniel has heart problems. So I am a little wary of them both with the 3 1/2yr old Granddaughter now because of their health issues. We've now just had a Welsh Springer Puppy. She's called Mali and she's 8 weeks old. She having her 1st injection Wednesday. She's been good too. We take her outdoors for the toilet, and it's suprising how quickly they learn, cos after only a week, she wimpers by the door to be taken to the toilet. She also understands 'no' but keeping chewable things out of reach is the difficult part. But never mind, hopefully she'll soon grow out of chewing evrything that is'nt hers. ha ha. :o)))

I agree what you say ..its how animals are handled from an early age ( bit like children really) that makes them what they are and a pleasure to be with

our brindle staffy is 11 years old now, had her from a puppy ( reject ) & is the most wonderful companion. Loves the cuddles, superb temperement with absolutly eveything & everyone, She single pawed has changed so many peoples attitudes around to this breed. Raised my Staffy like my 3 kids, no means no, never smacked or shouted at, so far I havent been bitten by any of them & they all love me still ;-) Had other superb dogs over the years, pointer, dalmation, keeshond but there seems to be something quite remarkable about the staffies devotion to people. I now have four grandchildren & they are not allowed to sit-on, tease or pester Staffy, the respect goes both ways with people & dogs. Top-Tip, get a tug-of-war type toy, boy do they like to play with you & it trains them that hands are not for biteing etc. Looking forward to photo progress. You have a very lively upbeat happy devoted little chap there, he'll raise your day when you need it most SK.
