More auction bargains

Some members may recall that OH and I successfully bid for a stone bird bath at an auction in North Devon last April.
We have just spent the most wonderful week in North Devon and Cornwall, with sunshine every day and returned to the same auction house.
Here is the bird bath from last year … for the sum of £22
These are our ‘Lots’ from last week … the boy our daughter now calls ‘Huckleberry Finn’ … our bid of £12 secured him
Secondly is this small bird bath … £15 seemed a bargain
This pair of boots have drainage holes … not sure what to plant them with yet!
The boots were ours for £10 … commission on the three items was £4 … total spend was £41 … compare that to Garden Centre or reclamation yard prices and I think you’ll agree we definitely bagged some bargains!

What lovely features for the garden and fantastic bargains! Glad you are much better now and that you had the sunshine while you were away. Nice to see you back on here again.

Lol, Oliveoil, we wrapped the ornaments in beach and bath towels, put them in the car boot, then piled up the back seat and floor with luggage! Fabulous sunny weather throught the whole week, coats stayed in the wardrobe .. :o)
Cinders, we stopped at the GC near Salisbury for a comfort break on the way there ... the resident Pheasant appeared for some crumbs! ... Am hoping to post another blog later about the holiday and my health ... feeling a lot better since a change of meds ... I shall PM you soon .....
Terra, those boots are so heavy ... we'll have to choose carefully where their home will be ... don't fancy moving them too often! .....
Thankyou Rose, it's good to be feeling more energetic and the week away has done us both good ... shame I didn't bring the sunshine back though .....

You certainly did get a bargain, would'nt have got one of them for that price at GC, well do.

Brilliant bargains, Shirley, and good to see you back. (Love the boots!) So glad you had a sunny time in the West Country . . . such a lovely area, and nothing like a break from routine to make you feel better :)
Were you anywhere near Poke Jolly Bay? That's where we're heading in September. x

They`re great Shirley and I agree definitely a bargain, they will all look smashing in your garden, I feel for the poor car as they do look heavy, lol..
So pleased you had a good week and also that you are feeling better again, the holiday will have done you and OH a power of good..

Love your bargains Shirley, love Huck & the bird bath which would look nice with summer annuals in, geraniums, ivy, petunias etc , very smart, i really like the old boots they will look great when planted too.

Thanks, Clarice ... those boots may go near the bird feeder to stop Megan lying on the ground in wait for the birds! .....
Thanks, Terra ... :o) .....
Nanad, it's sad to think these are probably all from a house/garden clearance ... but they'll be happy here! ... :o) .....
Sheilabub ... good to be back on GoY! ... We stayed about seven miles East of Bude and visited RHS Rosemoor & Docton Mill Gardens to name but two lovely places ... I've not heard of Poke Jolly Bay ... whereabouts is it please? ... :o) .....
Lol, Lincs, the boots are heavy, but the other items not too bad ... OH had changed the car tyre pressure for 3 adults & luggage ... just as well! ... :o)
Grandmage ... the large bird bath is a favourite for the Pigeons to bathe in (NOT my favourite birds in the garden!) and the new, smaller cherub statue is filled with water ... just need to see if the smaller birds will use it ... :o)

Jolly Poke Bay is on the north Cornish coast, Shirley, near Crantock, and east of Perranporth.

Great bargain - much more interesting and practical than coming home with a tea towel or some other pointless momento. :)

Thankyou all so much for your lovely comments on this blog ... here's a strange thing though ... when I scrolled through it the boots photo had vanished! ... I went back to find the pic on the computer to post it on ... and then it had returned ... hmm ... 'These boots are made for walking' comes to mind ... younger Goyers won't know what I'm rambling on about ... lol!

Thanks Willinilli, we were just so lucky with that wonderful sunny weather ...
We do have auctions in West Sussex, Hb, but have never been to one of them ... perhaps we should just to see how the prices compare with the West Country! ... I wonder if you make enquiries, you may find your area does have an auction house.
