CHANGES MADE TO FRONT GARDEN, am I pleased,

Yes I think I am. I feel it has a more balanced look about it. All I`ve done is make the centre bed a little larger and more of a round. I haven`t disturbed any of the plants as I don`t know what else is in there yet to come, so I shall wait till November time and then re-organize this bed. I`ve put a few more slabs down and built an Arch in front of the front door.
Trellis sides up.
Made the Top part and stained.
Completed project, with Honeysuckle to left and a David Austen Rose ` Mortimer Sackler` to the right, which is said to be very fragrant.

Good blog, Stroller, i like the bigger bed .... more room for flowers, i think we can be guilty of being on the cautious side when it comes to beds and borders, i'm enlarging my borders at the moment too !
Your trellis will look great with the 2 climbers on it - no Clematis though ? !
;-)
(i love clematis!)

Yes Katnip looking forward to the scents.
Louise1, you took the thoughts out of my head, just trying to make my mind up on what clematis to choose to entwine with the rose which is a medium pink.
Much cheaper too Joanella.

Look lovely Stroller!

Stroller, if the rose is a medium pink you could try a toning shade, so a darker pink or a purple or .... contrast it with a white or a deep red maybe !

It really makes a beautiful statement at the front of your home. Bear in mind pruning when you choose a clematis (or two - or three), I find late-flowering ones easiest.
28 Apr, 2010
Probably best to go for a late flowering one Wagger as the rose will be over by then so it will prolong the interest.

Looks lovely Stroller, do you think being on this site spurs you on to greater effort as you see so many lovely ideas? It's certainly inspired me:-)

Yes Bornagain I have given much more thought to the garden since I found this site, and I have received such a lot of support and encouragement. There is so much information out here and it eggs you on to try things out. So I say long may it continue.

You have done a lovely job - it all looks so welcoming. The scent from the arch when the plants are in bloom will be beautiful.
