My garden in July

I spent all of Sunday in my own garden, just incase anyone thought I was neglecting my own little acre. After a good tidy up in general I grabbed my camera and took some pics. I thought I’d share them with you.
Firstly, a general view of the front garden.
This Dahlia may well be nice to look at, but it’s been plagued with blackfly.
My OH made this handy plant stand, the plant against the wall is ‘Ethel’ our Datura which is now producing flower buds.
A final view, from a slightly different angle. Then off into the back garden.
Bedding Dahlia.
This is Ruby Wedding. I bought her last year when a local GC were selling off roses for 99p!
I’ve grown this Carnation from a cutting I took from a bunch of flowers last year. I’m chuffed to bits with the results.
This Clematis was wrongly labelled so I’ve no idea what it’s called…anyone out there recognise it?
Clematis Polish Spirit with Black Knight Buddleja
A wind blown poppy, but I think it’s so pretty I’m going to try and save the seeds.
One of Freya’s Sunflowers…she’s grown so many I ran out of places to put them!
Hollyhock with lots of buds…thank you DRC.
Freya’s little patch. She’s so proud of what she’s achieved, she checks I’ve watered them every time she visits lol!
Thanks for looking :)

Wonderful Waddy, and they all look so healthy too. Love the teapot pouring tea, (or something). Really lovely garden. Like OH's stand. Does it fold up when not in use ? The fuchsias are great too.

I agree with the others, all your plants look terrific what do you use for feeding? especially the Fuchsias?

Lovely. And not a munched leaf on your Hosta! How do you manage that!! Sorry, don't know the name of the Clematis, but I love it!

Hi all looks wonderful so neat and tidy. Thought I was looking at my own garden when I saw the combination of Hostas and fuchsia's. Loved the combination of Phlox, Cosmos and Dahlia. In picture 6 is that a white Scabiosa? I have a clematis which looks very similar - mine is called Arctic Queen (I think!).

Amsterdam; Thank you. Wendy spotted it, it's a Scabiosa. I sprinkled some seeds last year and they've flowered both years...must admit I didn't think they were perennial.

Cinderella; Thank you for your comments. The teapot is supposed to look as if it's pouring tea, but it's a bit of a cheat lol! The plant stand doesn't fold, but I stand it in the greenhouse during the winter, for my tender plants and it's actually quite light weight. Another deception!

Drc726; I use a mixture of Miracle Grow and Tomato Feed. And the Hollyhocks get the same treatment...which I have you to thank for :)

Digginfit; Thank you. I plant garlic around susceptible plants, and it seems to work.

Wendy; You're quite right, it is a Scabiosa. I've Googled the Clematis and I'm sorry, mine isn't Arctic Queen :(

Wow,that is some display,Waddy..! It puts mine to shame this year,as I'm not happy with my pots at all..except the Fuchsias and Lilies..Love that white Scabious,I didn't realise they gre so big! It's a beauty..and all your plants look so healthy..Freya's little patch is pretty..it looks a bit like Thomas's,with similar flowers:o) ..It's a credit to you, well done..still on for tomorrow? I'm having probs with emails !...xx

Wonderful garden - and I love your white and green Clematis. Hope someone can name it!
21 Jul, 2014
Its all beautiful Waddy - you have some great colours out there. Could you put a name to the hardy fuchsias? Using fuchsias as a little hedge to the border is very effective - never seen it done quite like that before

It looks like C. Florida 'Peppermint' or Florida 'Plena' isn't it just beautiful? I'd love that in my garden!
Your garden looks great! I love your plant sant...the tiers work great. Look forward to seeing that. Brugmansia in flower....or was it a Datura? Sorry! Lol!

Bloomer; Thank you, although the display is more by luck than management, unlike yours. Yes still on for our 'ladies who lunch' lol!

Sheilabub; Thank you..and someone has!

Steragram; Thank you for your kind comments. I've lost the label to the Fuchsias, but if I remember correctly they are 'Dollar Princess'

Cottagekaren; Clever girl, you're dead right! Florida Peppermint, I like that name. The plants on the second shelf of the plant stand are the ones I'm hoping to send to you. Did I say Datura? Doh! Of course it's a Brugmansia. Same family though.
22 Jul, 2014
Gralew; Thank you! I've no idea what the Hosta is called. When I'm in the garden today I'll take a look at the label and let you know.
22 Jul, 2014
I'm going to have to have that Clematis! :)) Very excited about the plants on the second shelf! :))

Lovely garden Waddy. Very full, colourful and well set out. Lovely fuchsias, they are so rewarding when they really get going. I like your plant stand too.Very hard to keep the garden here looking wekk stocked, as it has been so hot.

Very interesting :)
I'm pleased Freya's got a little patch. It's nice for kids to grow up with plants.
I like your plant stand.

Each picture is so good and what a beautiful garden you have with everything looking so happy and healthy. I like your dahlias - we have grown them for the first time this year and I am so pleased with them.
I agree about the clematis, it is gorgeous.
22 Jul, 2014
Gralew; The hosta you asked about is called 'Sieboldiana Francis Williams' :)
24 Jul, 2014
Dorjac; Thank you, yes it's been very hard to keep up with the watering. It takes my OH and myself upto an hour each day, just to water the pots and baskets etc. I'm planning to have less in pots next year...but I've said that before!
24 Jul, 2014
Hywel; Thanks very much. Yes I agree with you, I think it's important to grab them early. I plan to get her to plant things she can eat, next year.
24 Jul, 2014
Wildrose; Thank you for your compliments. Will you be over wintering your Dahlia tubers? I have done in the past, but they've got so big now I'm not going to bother this year. I'll leave them in the ground and just hope we have a mild winter again ;)

28 Jul, 2014
Are you very, very frightening? Lol!

I notice you said less pots Waddy. I always think i'll have less pots and still they breed. At the moment even if something special is in the ground it will need watering, so can't win.
