Autumn Colours.

Our garden is looking a bit ‘tired’ if you know what I mean, but I have tried to find some nice examples of early autumn colour.
The day was very calm and still, but lacked sunshine. Everywhere had the feel of getting ready to go to sleep somehow!
Just pics from now on….
And finally, a distinct lack of any colour on my fairy door used as my avatar! The fairies have become very lazy recently as you can see from the neglect of their property!! They said that they are going for the ‘rustic look.’
This is how the doors used to look when the fairies first moved in!
As the days get shorter, stay warm and cosy, put your feet up and get out the seed catalogues!

It's all looking beautiful Chris, is that perovskia with the sedum? and which is that lovely rose? It's a poor show when even the little folk grow lazy ....perhaps they'll rally in the spring ....that's what I'm hoping to do lol. We've had two days of amazing sunshine and the squirrells are behaving very oddly, I'm wondering if they think it's spring? they'll soon be disillusioned if so:-)

I love all the autumn colours, Chris . What is that tree in front of the Virginia creeper? Are the leaves usually like that? It all looks lovely to me, Chris. Perhaps the fairies are going to hibernate for the winter! Hahaa!

Wish I had little people - even if they are lazy :))

Beautiful colours Rose and such lovely photos, maybe your fairies will do a makeover sometime after the cold and damp weather has past!!

These comments were so nice to read and I shall try to answer your questions by myself because my fairy folk are fast asleep!
BA It is Perovskia Blue Spire and I like the frosty look it has now.
Rose It is a twisted hazel - looks lovely in the spring with catkins but the curled up leaves in summer are not very attractive! I am sorry but I am not sure which rose it is, a rambler with no scent is all I can tell you.
Yet again the south west is about to have the worst of the weather so enjoy the sunshine everyone whilst I grab my brollie!!

Still looks lovely Rose, the virginia creeper is wonderful.
Enjoy your seed catalogues, I'm expecting a seed parcel in the next couple of days from another chat site I belong to we're doing a seed swap, we've all sent some to the organizer to start it off then we take some out and replace with a few we've collected when we recieve it, apparently its started its journey and weighs 200grams!!!!!!!!!!!, I'm first on the list, exciting :-))

What a lovely blog :o) Your garden is beautiful. It's full of late season colour, and very interesting.
I like the fairy's door lol .. it's pretty. I like it as it is I think - it sort of 'fits in' if you know what I mean ...

You are all very kind but I must be honest with you - especially Meadowland!!!
Our garden is looking very bedraggled at the moment and is quite depressing really but I didn't take pics of those bits! I found it very difficult to find decent ones - thank goodness for the virginia creeper is all I can say!!!
Hywel. I know exactly what you mean about the little door and it does fit in with its surroundings. But, don't tell the fairies that I said so!

I think your garden looks lovely! It can be a very "in-between" time in the garden. I'm always torn between a real tidy-up and a more relaxed approach (guess which usually wins?). It's lovely to go round and spot all the lovely little corners. "Live and let live," I say!
