Front Border mingle..

Just to show you how it is looking at the moment..I must say,i am happy with what is in flower now,and still Fuchsias and ‘Lucifer ’ Crocosmia’s to bloom, but they won’t be long.
Starting from the left..
Sidalcea…there are three in total spaced along the length of the border..
Lychnis…I love the contrast of the silver foliage, with Cerise flowers..
Lysimachia..a gift from Carole..with Photinia Red Robin, just visible behind..
White patio rose,(unknown) £2 bargain from Morries..:o) with blue Polemonium,(Jacob’s ladder,)
Erysimum,Bowles Mauve..what a trouper! This was a cutting ,planted out last year, and it still hasn’t stopped flowering..new ones still coming from the base. This has to be my favourite Perennial of all..Fuchsia ‘Empress of Prussia behind, awaiting her moment of glory..She will get much bigger yet..This is my original one,12 years old,and many a cutting has been taken from her..hasn’t it,Carole ?? Lol.
Almost at the end of my section, but by no means least..One of my cuttings of ‘Fragrant Delight’ Rose..with Campanula that seeded in the wall..looking bigger than ever this year,,I no longer have the one in my border,so it lives to remind me..
and finally,an overall view from the left..
I know a lot of you have seen this many times before, and there isn’t much change..only they are bigger ! It’s getting hard to find somewhere to stand,so some serious pruning, cutting back ,and dividing will be necessary for next year.I’ve already lost a trowel, well two actually, but I found one..:o) and a pair of Secateurs in there somewhere…might be me that gets lost,if I don’t
make an effort… Thank you for looking..xx

Thank you,Neellan,it's not a chore when you love tending it,is it? It's just lucky it turns out how you want it :o)
25 Jun, 2014
I love that Sidalcea (complete with Bee) ... and the bright Lysimachia too ... all looking grand and a real credit to you Sandra. :o)
25 Jun, 2014
I agree with Shirley on this. Its a beautiful border, and looks so attractive.
25 Jun, 2014
Lovely border Sandra. My neighbour gave me some Lysimachia las t year, first time flowering for me, she called it 'loosestrife' no idea what it looked like only that it was yellow, its lovely and I love the Sidalcea, they look so good together.
26 Jun, 2014
Sorry Daylily,I jumped past you there..Thank you for your nice comment,,I mentioned I was happy with mine too...but for how long ?? :o))
26 Jun, 2014
Thank you Shirley,I hadn't noticed the bee :o) those Sidalceas were staked earlier in the week, and have garden twine around them ! they flop to the ground so easily,if we get rain...and this year,I wasn't going to get caught out again.!
26 Jun, 2014
Thank you,Cinders..It's good it's a big border,to be able to let these do their own thing, but it was daunting at first, where to start..Once I got rid of all the Builders' hidden treasure' (almost a skip full) removed the boring landscaped attempts, and lots of decent stuff dug in,it only took me 12 years of trial and error,to get it as I want it ! Lol...
26 Jun, 2014
Thank you Val,I love both those too.I know Lysimachia can be a thug, but I find it so cheery and bright..It's not hard to pull up any you don't want,to keep it in check..
26 Jun, 2014
Bloomer, this looks fantastic! You've managed to get just the look I've been trying to achieve. I wonder if I'll have to wait a few more years with lots more trial and errors too? Perhaps you should come for lunch sometime and give me some tips lol! ;0
26 Jun, 2014
it does look lovely Sandra and so healthy ,I particularly like the way the Campanula has seeded itself in the wall I would love walls like that ! I hope you find your missing tools we've lost many things like that including shed keys ,Tony dug some secateurs up with the potatoes last week Lol ...
26 Jun, 2014
It does you credit Sandra, a lovely mingle and so colourful, the Campanula is doing a grand job as a backdrop for the others...I gave myself a pat on the back for retrieving my fav trowel and a pair of secateurs a few weeks back only to lose the other trowel on the same day, lol....

Lovely Blooms Bloomer xxx
26 Jun, 2014
It's looking absolutely fantastic Sandra, and I agree about the Bowles Mauve - such a trooper!
26 Jun, 2014
It looks better each time you show us this Bloomer - I love the Campanula in the wall.
26 Jun, 2014
Wow!!! fabulous border Bloomer, I haven't seen it before :-),love the Lysimachia Red Robin combination I might have to pinch that :-)
I lost a penknife several years ago while dividing a plant still haven't found it lol.
26 Jun, 2014
Fantastic border Sandra you do so well to keep it looking so healthy and well cared for, yes I have lots of cuttings from your Empress they are all starting to open now! I was looking at your Lychnis I used to have the Cerise one and the white one too, but my Cerise one has disappeared just got the white species now perhaphs we could do a swap if you would like the white one too;0)
26 Jun, 2014
Lol,Waddy, and thank you..I don't think it will take you as long as it did me,but it has kept me occupied :o) I was always moving things around..and I still do ! There are two Miscanthus Zebrinas in there too.,which I had split last year..Can't see them at all,but they are holding the Crocosmias up ! :o) Most of my tips have been from GoY,so 'not all my own work'.xx
...........
Thank you Amy,We love that stone wall too..The Campanula seems to prefer it there...I tried shoving a rooted piece in it,a few times, but it didn't work..I still haven't found those Secateurs! Using a pair from Wilko's ,which are much sharper than my old ones! .did your spuds come up,ready chipped ?? :o) I know what you mean about the shed keys, but mine don't get lost, they are usually in the shed, after I've closed the padlock :o)
.........
Thank you Sue,it seems the Campanula is well liked by you all..Nice to have the unexpected sometimes..but some are more welcome than others :o) I'm so glad I'm not alone,in losing things...The times OH has had to go looking behind the fence, where I put stuff that won't go in the Compost bin..I have a bad habit of putting any tools in the trug I am filling,so I know where they are !! ..but forget :o)
...........
Thank you Pam,I'm glad you like it..nice to see you back :o)
........
Thanks Sheila..I know Bowles Mauve is a favourite of yours too..Did you manage to take cuttings from yours last year,or was it this year? Mine are doing well,so I will be having more in other parts of the garden..:o)
.........
Thank you Scottish..and kind of you to have looked ,and remembered it from previous years..I had wondered whether to post yet another blog on the same border,in case it was overkill..same old, same old ! .
............
Welcome to my front border, Simbad, and thank you so much..It seems miniscule compare to your beautiful garden..I like the Lysimachia with the Photinia too,and considering I never gave that a thought, when planting,it's turned out to be a nice Combo...I think it will look better next year, when the Red Robin has grown taller..I can't believe how we lose things so easily..especially when we have just been using them..:o)
26 Jun, 2014
Thank you Carole,I love it this year..it has matured so well, with the mild winter, and lots of rain..plus some glorious sunshine..can't ask for more, can we? How strange,Carole,as I used to have White Lychnis ,and lost mine as well ,so a swap would be great :o) I don't even remember planting the Cerise one at the front of the border,as I have one further back, for height..saying that,it has been in every border I have, over the years..so no surprise there :o) All from a 50p root in a bag from Lidl..Lol.I usually split mine,do you save seed? I'm far too tidy, and cut all mine off when they finish flowering :o)..maybe I missed one..ha ha..
26 Jun, 2014
Quite delightful, it is hard to achieve a look as good as this
26 Jun, 2014
I split mine too Sandra, we will do the deed in Autumn lol
26 Jun, 2014
That is so kind of you to say so,Denise, thank you..I must go and check on your day lilies, among the mingle..I know where they are ! :o) I've just noticed you have added it to Border Ideas,...oh,thank you,a compliment indeed ..:o)
26 Jun, 2014
Ok Carole,it will take me till then to decide where to put yours ! :o)xx
26 Jun, 2014
It's nice and colourful Sandra :o) and it's good that wall must give some protection and hold some heat.
I like the way it all knits together to give a very pleasing effect :)
26 Jun, 2014
Thank you Hywel, and yes,it certainly does both...my own little micro climate ! :o) I'm pleased you like my planting, not planned as such, but a happy outcome ..:o)
26 Jun, 2014
That's the best way :o))
27 Jun, 2014
Yes - thanks Sandra - I did take cuttings from the Bowles Mauve last year, and they are in flower this year. Such a treasure!
27 Jun, 2014
All my cuttings seem to have taken from a few weeks ago..so I will be planting two in the back garden, and giving my daughter a couple for their new house..I wonder if they would be ok in pots? their garden is more like a football field at the moment..no borders, just turf !
28 Jun, 2014
A bloomin beautiful border Bloomer.....love it, well done you.
29 Jun, 2014
Thank you Angela..it is my favourite part of the garden..and the biggest..
30 Jun, 2014
It's beautiful Sandra, I love that sidalcea. I have some lychin which I also love, a gift from the birds:-) Is Fragrant delight a little more peach than your pic shows? If so I have one of those too, but I can't believe yours is from a cutting you clever thing, that's what I call a proper gardener! By the way, I never tire of seeing your lovely border through the year:-))
30 Jun, 2014
Thank you,Ba,I love the Sidalcea too.Just been pruning down some of the spent stems,so I usually get a smaller amount of new growth later..If it has one fault,it is quite an untidy plant..The Fragrant Delight Rose is more a peachy shade at first, but fades to pink,as they open..This pic looks about right..I have another cutting like this in the back garden..quite easy to do,you just have to be patient :o) I don't know about a proper gardener,my dear..I break all the rules, and keep my fingers crossed,a lot ! Lol but thank you for the compliment :o) x
