We have just returned from a lovely Holiday from Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon.,with our special friends,Carole (P.potter.) and her OH,Harry..and another meeting was arranged to meet up with Chris(Wildrose),and her OH John,as they live quite near to one of the places we visited on our Itinerary..unbeknown to Carole and I,there had been some secretive planning going on with another good friend, from Goy(.Shirley tulip) ,so what a lovely surprise we had, when she and her OH Michael, decided to have a last minute holiday nearby too..
To say we were gobsmacked, was an understatement ! but what a lovely afternoon we had together..albeit far too short..I thought you would like to see a couple of photo’s of us enjoying the obligatory Devonshire cream teas..:o)
…..
Waiting patiently….

Oh,yummy..well worth the wait..:o)

Needless to say,we didn’t bother visiting The Dartington Glass place,..this was more to our liking :o)
A lovely afternoon with special friends, always takes priority..Lol.

I hope Russell doesn't mind not being in the photos Sandra! It really was lovely to meet up with you all, shame we didn't have longer to chat as I'm sure we could have talked for ages :o)))

29 Aug, 2015

He didn't mind at all,Shirley, and he is on plenty of others on our Holiday:o) We thoroughly enjoyed our time with you and Michael..at last! and with Chris and John of course...A couple of times our paths have almost crossed, but we finally made it :o) We might end up in your neck of the woods one day,so be forewarned ..Lol xx

29 Aug, 2015

How lovely for you all. You look happy and enjoying yourselves.

29 Aug, 2015

It was lovely, and believe me,it took some organising..no signals at all on a Mobile, for miles around..Chris and I had to resort to confirming times etc from our hotel room phone,to her home number.it takes you back a bit :o) I finally got my messages two days later,in Dunster ! Lol.

29 Aug, 2015

Technology at its best. Sounds like our place. Mobile signal useless, broadband speed dire. You got there in the end though :)

29 Aug, 2015

We did,and surprising how you get by without it..Our Coach driver said if you go to a certain bench in the nearby Graveyard at the Church, you can sometimes get a signal ! Lol..I didn't bother :o)

29 Aug, 2015

How super Bloomer what a lovely surprise addition to your cream tea meeting bet the hour just flew by :)

29 Aug, 2015

PS great pictures Russell :)

29 Aug, 2015

My mobile doesn't have a signal at home either so it is a true miracle we all met up in the right place at the right time!!

Oh but it was so lovely to meet everyone and to be together. They are all delightful people and if only we could have spent longer together it would have been perfect.

I am so glad they all arrived in Devon at the same time and that we had this ideal opportunity to meet up. Happy memories of a special time.

29 Aug, 2015

Oh how wonderful ?
what a very special day thanks for sharing it xxx

30 Aug, 2015

Looks great, you need a selfie stick lol then you can all be on the pic :))

30 Aug, 2015

I was just thinking that Daylily but I don't know if Bloomer has a phone like that.
Bloomer, you've done it again! What a super day you all look to have had. It's also nice to put faces to more members of GoY.

30 Aug, 2015

Lol Daylily,my phone should be on Antiques roadshow :o) It took me long enough to master that ! and Julia, you know what I'm like with a phone, never mind a selfie stick..ha ha.
We never expected when we booked this holiday, that we would be so near to Chris, and for Shirley to come as well, was just great ..

30 Aug, 2015

What a treat - you all look so happy!

30 Aug, 2015

I think it's about time that you organised a GOY meetup Sandra:-) lovely pics (although I'm not on any) anyway I've met Daylily so there 8-p Hello Jane \o/ :-)))

30 Aug, 2015

Sorry Neellan, and Pam ..I scrolled down too fast and missed you out ! Oh dear..it must be jet lag..or more likely,Coach lag :o)
It was a lovely afternoon, which just flew by..thank you for your nice comments :o)and Chris..how did I miss you as well ? I think we did well in the circumstances, but perseverance won in the end..Thank you for your extra surprise..that was lovely to meet Shirley and Michael ..also many thanks for your parting gift of a pack of Daffodil bulbs for each of us,as a reminder of our day,in Springtime. It was such a caring thought :o) xx

30 Aug, 2015

Thank you Sue..a shame it's too far for you to have joined us..maybe one day we will meet :o)

30 Aug, 2015

Haha I know all this new technology! Hi June \o/ :))

30 Aug, 2015

Lol Ba..We would have loved you to be there, anyone with a good sense of humour is more than welcome :o) I will have to scour Brochures for future holiday's to see who we can meet next who are within easy reach..but it depends where the Coach Driver takes us on days out ..Glad you have met Daylily,so that's a start :o).x

30 Aug, 2015

I'm pleased you all enjoyed it Sandra ! it just wasn't long enough, was it !

30 Aug, 2015

Thanks Rose, and no,it wasn't long enough, but an hour was better than none at all..:o)

30 Aug, 2015

Hello Sandra: What a wonderful surprise that must have been to be visited by special friends. There's nothing like it. I'm glad you got the most out of your vacation. The pictures are priceless. To quote an ole Irish blessing...

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand

31 Aug, 2015

Thank you Paul..and for the poem..It just goes to show that distance isn't always a barrier,if you make the effort :o)
Another memory to treasure :o)

31 Aug, 2015

If only it was nearer to have met you all.....so much better in reality.......you all seemed to have had an enjoyable meet up over a cream cake or two????

31 Aug, 2015

That would have been nice,Julia..and only one Scone each, but a big one, with lashings of Clotted Cream..mmm ! :o)

31 Aug, 2015

Oh its lovely to see you all together, sounds like a good bit of jiggory-pokery took place to arrange it all but you made it, could cause quite a stir in the graveyard if the coachdriver tells all his customers its the only place to get a signal on their phones and everyone vying for that one spot, lol...Just changed the name from Goyers United to Cream Tea Brigade...

31 Aug, 2015

Lol,Sue..I would have rather have tried to send smoke signals than try my luck in the Graveyard..:o) I think Cream Tea Brigade, sounds just about right..we only had two all week though ..Mind you,we only had three full days there :o)

31 Aug, 2015

I think our photo was very nice, don't you Jane?:-)))) Unfortunately there's only Phyl still on Goy now, the other three from our pic have vanished ..... I wonder if it was something we said:-(

31 Aug, 2015

Sandra, I think it would be nice if you arranged our GOY outing in the West Midlands ..... you could hire a venue like the NEC, there's bound to be lots of us and John could pop over from Ireland too. I'm getting so excited now, it's so good of you:-))))

31 Aug, 2015

I think we'd enjoy meeting at a garden - how about the Nat. Botanic Garden of Wales?

31 Aug, 2015

amy
Amy

We were in Rockingham Forest that week and couldn't get a signal either , I wouldn't climb a tree ,I'm glad you had a nice time with lovely friends Carole & Harry you're getting to be a dab hand at this MI5 secret business Sandra ,I'm pleased it all worked out well for you all and lovely to meet two more GOY members ,hello to you both Chris & Shirley ! I'm disappointed not to have been a part of it this time, fingers crossed for next time xx

31 Aug, 2015

Now Stera, it's obvious when you think about it ..... the Midlands is erm ... in the middle of Britain and therefore it makes sense for is all to meet there ... and, hand on heart, it has nothing to do with the fact that I happen to live there:-)))

31 Aug, 2015

You make me laugh,Ba..:o) It would be nice to have the others back, wouldn't it? probably got fed up of us two ! Lol
Of course I could hire the NEC in Birmingham..After all,I do have a state pension which should just about cover it...not!
We once went to a venue there, not sure which,as it was a long time ago..to the Birmingham Military Tattoo...I kid you not,and it was brilliant..around Autumn time, but I don't know if they still have one each year..how very apt,as I'm just watching the Edinburgh one on TV...:o)

31 Aug, 2015

We do have coach tours to include the Nat.Botanic Garden in Wales,Sue..It may be a possibility one day..:o)

31 Aug, 2015

Isn't it an nuisance,Amy,when you can't get through to anyone,or vice versa? to be honest,I hardly use mine, but on this occasion,it would have been very handy, but we made it eventually :o) This time round,Carole and I were the innocent parties..all Chris and Shirley's doing :o)
I hope you had a nice relaxing break, and recharged your batteries..just in case we meet again ,hopefully.xx

31 Aug, 2015

Thanks Sandra for arranging and sharing our meeting up with our Goy friends, it was a lovely hour spent together and everyone just got on splendidly with each other, so much in common and such lovely people, Here's to more get togethers in the future ;0)))

31 Aug, 2015

Of course BA, nothing at all! If I still lived in the Midlands I'd be all for it...

Nothing to stop the South Walesians from meeting up though?

31 Aug, 2015

So that's your plan! Exclude the English! Flippin eck and it was my idea:-( Stera, what happened to the old GOY spirit? Have you forgotten our song of allegiance? All together now ......

Goyers united together we stand
None shall divide our happy GOY band
If any one tries they must understand
We've forks ,secateurs and weeders to hand. :-))))

1 Sep, 2015

now if you had chosen south devon you could have added us to the pic!!!!!!!!!!!
tbh i think we came back a week earlier

2 Sep, 2015

Everyone should catch the red eye to New York City.

2 Sep, 2015

Well...I might as well join in then ! How about Lincolnshire BA ! Sue ( Lincslass) would agree with me, I'm sure , as would Olive Oil, Marjory and many others I'm sure ! Oh yes...and me ! What do you think Sandra ! lol

2 Sep, 2015

Lovely to see you all together.

2 Sep, 2015

Glassware..scones and tea??? Yes. I think you made the right decision.Ha ha...lovely.Nice to see GOYers meeting up.
I was getting confused, thinking I'd already seen this blog but, of course this meeting was mentioned in Shirley's blog too!

3 Sep, 2015

Lol Paul, we like to get ourselves noticed on GoY!!!

3 Sep, 2015

Maybe another time,Maisiesdad..we get around a lot :o)
.....
Don't think we wouldn't come either,Paul..you just need to cough up the airfare ! Lol the least you could do .ha ha..
.......
Lol Rose,I think it's about time everyone who can, should come to Yorkshire..it is the biggest County, after all..and we might possibly be visiting our friends in Mablethorpe again, but nothing definite as yet..so might see you at Brigg again..:o)
.........
Thank you Klahanie..it was great to meet up :o)
........
I think I need to call you Paul 2,seeing as we already have Paul 1 in New York..I'm not surprised you get confused, with two of us posting blogs..it's the norm for me ! Lol
Thanks, the Cream tea was certainly the winner on the day..I have enough glassware to last me a lifetime :o)

3 Sep, 2015

Will look forward to it Sandra ! I think Yorkshire maybe a bit too far ! But...you never know !

3 Sep, 2015

I could hire you a few tandems and you could all cycle here, Bloomer.Nice bit of fresh air and excercise for you!!! Oh, it was Paul 1 you were going to see.........I don't need to hire the tandems after all!!!
Yes, Shirley....I've noticed you all like to be noticed. You're obviously not all shy little wallflowers like me!!!

3 Sep, 2015

Well flippin' 'eck, talk about jumping on the bandwagon! It was my idea for Sandra to arrange this meetup and, unselfishly, I decided it should be in the Midlands so no-one would be too far away .... now you're all at it :-(

3 Sep, 2015

Come on Rose,it isn't so far,if we meet on the border..Lol.No problem Ba..Paul 2 will call in on you, enroute, and you could come on his tandem :o)not too far as the crow flies, and you have already been to Holmfirth,so you can't say you don't know the way..Lol..don't forget your helmet :o) I'll meet you in Compo's chippy ...

3 Sep, 2015

Now that is an offer too good to refuse BA..... "And I'll look sweet upon a seat of a bicycle made for two"
But, I'll have to change my name to Daisy!

3 Sep, 2015

Lol,Paul..oops,sorry..Daisy..whatever ! :o)

3 Sep, 2015

Well, at least that will save the confusion with Bathgate Paul!

3 Sep, 2015

Good thinking ! not good for the macho pirate image though :o)

3 Sep, 2015

Even pirates can be in touch with their feminine side!

3 Sep, 2015

Definitely Paul. a pink eyepatch would look good :o)

4 Sep, 2015

Paul I'm sure you meant to say that I'd look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle made for two ... You old flatterer:-))))

4 Sep, 2015

Well........I'm old .....anyway!!

4 Sep, 2015

Just remembered to login B.?!! Lol. Great photos of you all, how lovely to meet up like this, I envy you, lucky lady, how delightful to put the faces to the names on here and have some afternoon tea to go with it. brilliant. xxx

5 Sep, 2015

Hi G.,lovely to see you again..:o)One of these days we might get to somewhere near you ! don't worry,we don't bite Lol. It's something we can look back on with lots of pleasure :o) Thanks for looking in :o) x

5 Sep, 2015

Lovely photos and lovely that you can meet together and have some catch up time.

13 Sep, 2015

Thank you Lindak..it really was a special day..:o)

13 Sep, 2015

Wow, how have I missed this......there you all are! Aww....never mind the Midlands....Ba won't read this will you Ba!.......I thought we were all going to get together at Brigg GC, its not far from the Midlands Ba....just up the road...and that one...and that one...........:))

12 Jan, 2016

I miss lots too Janey,so you are not alone..! It seems an age since we met up..but lovely to look back on,with special friends..I'm sure we will make it to Brigg one day,it's just getting something organised, and when people are available..holidays tend to get in the way, don't they?,or anything really....now don't go getting Ba all riled up again ,will you? ..lets see if she has something else to say :o) x

13 Jan, 2016

Yea we must Sandra.......no, no calm Ba......down girl!.....:)) X

14 Jan, 2016

I heard that Janey! I hear Brigg GC is a dump, much nicer ones here :-P :-)

20 Jan, 2016

I think a GoY convention would be a great idea,
But where would be suitable?
Prefer it not to be a 'dump' Ba!!! There must be somewhere that would welcome us!

20 Jan, 2016

I just knew you would rise to the bait,Ba.. Lol .. a clever ruse to get you back on Goy ..gotcha !xxx

20 Jan, 2016

Think you're clever don't you Sandra:-) I'll pop in when I can if only to keep you lot on line:-)

21 Jan, 2016

Chris, the Midlands is the ideal place cos it's erm .... In the middle .... and Sandra is the ideal Goyer to organise it. She is capable of great things when she sets her mind to it:-)

21 Jan, 2016

Erm,I think you are in the right area to arrange such a meeting,Ba..I couldn't possibly accept such a prestigious honour ! we all know I couldn't hold a candle to your leadership and dedication to all things Goy related :o)
I wonder if you have considered the price of train travel recently? I could almost fly to America for the same price..do you fancy meeting there instead? .and no,I don't drive ! :o)) xx

22 Jan, 2016

Sandra, I expect you to arrange coaches etc given you previous guide job, I'm sure you must still have contacts:-)

22 Jan, 2016

Well...my computer has been on the blink and here you both are arranging meet-ups in the midlands without me!
Dump, Ba??? It's right after the car park, not left...that is the dump! Received the award for best GC in Britain Ba...na, na,nana,na!! Are we back to using the old Magic Carpet again.....dig it out the shed Ba, that's it next to the broomstick and give it a good shake, no I'm not sitting in the middle, c'mon Sandra....we'll leave the smooth silvery bit for Ba, oh is it threadbare....:-D

22 Jan, 2016

This is getting us nowhere, we need positivity girls!! Looks like it's down to you Sandra - such a wise choice!!

22 Jan, 2016

You have lost me there,Ba..previous tour guide? but if you mean our Magic carpet..(thanks Janey, for the reminder ) ! lol..I had forgotten about that.ha ha.
So,get your act together Ba and get it's Mot done before spring/summer..forget the Coaches, the carpet is the only way to travel..:o)
Sorry,Chris,if you are puzzled,it's a reference to a blog that went on ,and on..and on,a few years ago ..such fun ! I think it is time for a change ,so I'm nominating you ! You already know your way to Bristol,so just keep going up the M 5..or is it M6? anyway, stop when you get to Birmingham..Ba will give you a lift on our Carpet..:o) xx

22 Jan, 2016

Ha ha, I think it was Floribundas 'a little lost in Somerset' blog. If you have a day or two to spare Chris you could do worse than read (and try to follow) this blog. You may need a lie down in a darkened room afterwards so be warned:-)
Sandra, when you applied for a position with BA Travel that was on your c.v. were you fibbing?:-)
Carole look what you've started! When I get the time I may read the Lost in Somerset blog again :-)

22 Jan, 2016

Lol,Ba..I had forgotten about Ba travel as well as that darned Carpet! I think I might turn back the pages and have another read too..erm,Carole ???? now don't you go involving that poor lass, who had nothing to do with all that,whatsoever..I shall enter a plea of not guilty on her behalf..:o) wheeeeeeee to you ! x

22 Jan, 2016

I think you have forgotten how much more advanced B.A.Travel was than the old fashioned Magic Carpet Company Sandra. I think you do need to read Lost in Somerset again to remind you:-)
