Makeover part 2 the pond and steps area.

At the top of this bed is a pond, honest.
It has been cleared and emptied.
New liner.
Filled
Capped. You can see some of the celandine on this. Every plant I was keeping had its roots washed to clear the celandine, then put in a pot. It was kill or cure.
I have tried to match up the pics of before…
and after
Here is something of an overview from bedroom window. The extension roof gets in the way, but it gives you an idea of the layout. The first pic is now.
Before: This is the pond, what’s that you say?? where? It’s slightly overgrown, an unsuspecting burglar could have enden up in it without even seeing it:-)
After: I had to move these pots, as every time I watered them, the run off went in the pond. I’ll have to get some pot saucers or something ’cos it looks very bare.
before…
after
Hope you didn’t find it a bit tedious, it’s hard to know what to include (I have a million pics lol) but I have taken ages editing it:-)

It looks marvellous bornagain and its anything but tedious to see before, during and after. It looks like a prize winning garden.

Thanks Dylandog, I'm impatient for things to grow now:-)
12 Jul, 2010
Have you done it all yourself or did you get someone in to do it? Its looking really good.

Hi Lincslass, the pigeons really are a pain with their 'offerings' , but they are rather cute too. I've thought of buying some feeders which they can't use, but feel mean lol:-)

Thanks Mad, I love looking at before and after pics myself, but it's hard to get right, well it is for me lol:-)

Thanks treesandthi, I had a very nice man called Trev to do the hard landscaping, and help with the design from Goy member Louis and inspiration from pics on here too:-) I've had to do everything else, from sourcing and buying materials, synchronising everything, making cups of tea, digging up loads of plants and cleaning roots, buying lots of new plants, finding pots to keep them and dug up ones in. organising everything then deciding where to plant everything, digging hundreds of holes...need I go on? I still haven't finished...oh and watering everything as we've had a heatwave....yes, I deserve a medal lol:-)

Make the most of the sunshine on those fantastic patios. It looks great.

It's rained all day Trees, but I'm not moaning lol, I don't have to water tonight:-)

What a transformation,Ba..lovely..but a bit disappointed thre was no pic of you
reclining gracefully in your pond..hasn't it been warm enough for you ? Don't worry,I would have lent you my towel, that you "kindly"? referred to..We could have flat hair together..Lol.

Lincslass, there's one with a bad limp I always feel sorry for...don't know why, he's a right bully and sees all the others off:-)
12 Jul, 2010
Hi Lauram, very kind of you to say so, I love before and after pics too....of anything almost:-)
12 Jul, 2010
Thanks Skillen, I should have pretended to have done it all myself, but Trevor might get the internet one day and see the blog lol:-)

Hi Pansy, thankyou for your kind comments. I have 3 goldfish, and frogs of course. I did have a newt for a short time, but I think he found somewhere better, it is a bit bare at the moment. I do have 4 water lilies (still rather young) and an iris ensata and frogbit etc, but my oxygenating plants seem to have lost their weights and have floated to the top so I'll have to get more. My novelty fountain broke so I've bought a hozelock that doesn't float, but don't know what to stand it on yet:-)

Thanks Cristina, it just seems to take so long, need more patience:-)

Brilliant blog my friend~and yes, you do deserve a medal!!!! All that tea making and digging of holes too~you need to knighted!!

What a lovely area - and the pond is super...I wish I had room for one in my garden.
13 Jul, 2010
absolutely brilliant.

Bloomer, I did recline in the pond a few years ago, but not voluntarily,. We were in the garden with friends when it happened. Hilda, who was nearly eighty at the time, tried putting on a concerned face and asked if I was all right as I emerged dripping and cold...then she could contain it no longer and collapsed in a helpless heap. We laughed about it for weeks after, she a little too heartily if you ask me:-)

Thank you Hywel, all I need now is your view lol:-)
13 Jul, 2010
Thanks Flori, you could drop a line to the Palace ;-)
13 Jul, 2010

13 Jul, 2010
Thanks Sbg, hopefully the dreaded celandine will be a thing of the past soon thanks to your advice:-)
13 Jul, 2010
Wow, that's a fantastic make over, love the pond and the patios. Thank you for sharing these pictures, keep them coming is what I say!
14 Jul, 2010
Well done - and bye-bye Celandines - good riddance!
What a great transformation - you must be thrilled to bits. :-)))))
14 Jul, 2010
Thanks Mandym, I will be doing at least one more makeover blog, hope you like that too:-)
14 Jul, 2010
Hi Spritz, I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the celandine front, but I can't believe there won't be more for a few years before they're totally eradicated. The only problem is I can see soil between my plants, never mind, come next year it will look loads better...and I still can buy more plants! :-))
14 Jul, 2010
Sorry,Ba,but I admit I laughed too, about your pond experience, but not quite as heartily as your friend...far too polite for that,as you know...:o) Just keep your armbands handy..Lol..I'll bring a long pole....either to fish you out,or .....wait for it .....for the"Duck" weed! !Lol.
14 Jul, 2010
Groan.....:-)
14 Jul, 2010
I am not even going there, Bloomer!
14 Jul, 2010
No ,don't ...that Trev has a lot to answer for...does he know what he started?
Please don't accept strange gifts from any more men,Ba,..!!.
14 Jul, 2010
Well, not unless they are really young, tanned and tasty men that is Ba,....in which case, Bloomer and I will be right over......!
14 Jul, 2010
