I'm lucky ... modern technology of camera zoom allowed me to spot this one :o)

Have you not Paul? We get them and Fieldfares, but we leave the windfall apples for them

Its always special when they arrive

used to get loads - but declined here - my sister has some because of her apple tree

That was easier for me...Silver Birch is definitely not a Scottish Island! ;) lol ...no alcohol tonight either!

Great pic Terra, lucky you, I've never seen one. The only birds that perch in my neighbours birch are wood pigeons:-)

Lovely to see your birds TT. We have not had many Redwings this winter. They usually arrive in a flock and descend on the yew tree to eat the berries and they do a good job of polishing off late apples. We have had an unusually large number of very large flocks of chaffinches. They come every few days. Whether its the same flock or different ones is hard to tell.

This is the first Redwing I've ever seen in my garden.

On a news about wild life they reckon we are going to get more wild life even some exotic kind so you never know Terratoonie you might get more.

There are already some types of parrot living wild around London ...
I'll tell Crocus that feral budgies could be on their way to visit ;o)

I get Fieldfares here most years after my Crab apples, not seen a Redwing before though xx

I was fortunate to spot the Redwing. I had my camera zoomed in on some Starlings and then saw the Redwing nearby .. just pure luck ... Must be nice to see the Fieldfares ... xx

They usually stay for a couple of days, enough time to finish all the apples on the tree and annoy the resident Blackbirds Lol xx

Apples do seem to be their favorite, with us having three trees in the garden and the neighbours a small orchard we are very lucky
