I haven’t posted on here for a while so I’ve put some photos of my springtime plants for you to see … going right back to the early spring :o)

Crocuses are my favourite spring bulbs :-

.

A lovely Tulip from a stray seed :-

.

A potful of Narcissi by the front door :-

.

Here’s a new Hellebore that Beryl bought in Carmarthen last year …
It didn’t have a name :-

.

An old lady gave my mother a root of Pulmonaria when she and my dad first bought a house in the early 50s. The old lady’s father grew it so it must be very old.
This one in my garden is a cutting of a cutting of a cutting of a cutting lol :-

.

Prunus triloba – a lovely spring blossom that doesn’t last long enough for me.
I bought it in Woolworths for £1 many years ago :-

.

A bargain Amaryllis reduced from £5 to £1 in Tesco.
It had 4 beautiful flowers on it :-

.

Omphalodes capadoica :-

.

Clematis, John Paul ll … which the slugs love to eat :-

.

Aquillegias seed themselves all about the place. They even come up in the walls. This is a nice one – my favourite colour combination :-

Another pretty one :-

Maybe we’ll leave it there for now – I am having trouble with my new laptop … it keeps putting my photos into a folder dated January 2007 !
This confuses me – I didn’t even have a computer then.
Andrew the computer shop will sort it out for me next week :o)

(My old laptop got smashed when I dropped it due to painful elbows. It was beyond repair.
I also dropped a saucepan full of boiling potatoes lol)

Great pictures- I like the Narcissi and the Aquilegias especially, glad your posting their pictures!

Lovely photos, I like the story of the pulmonaria.

Lovely to see you posting again Hywel. A belated Happy Birthday. I do not know where 2017 has gone. Sorry to hear of the mishap with the computer and the pot of potatoes. Computers are like cars 'great when they are running well'. your plants are wonderful. I like the Hellebore for its colour but all the others are equally gorgeous. It does give your spirits a lift when you see these in the garden. The gifted pulmonaria which is still being treasured brings back precious memories for you I'm sure. The Prunus triloba was a great bargain. Woolworths did keep nice plants long before it became a supermarket staple.

Welcome back Hywel, we have missed you. Your garden must be so beautiful. I love the narcissi and the Omphalodes...and the aquilegias and..and...and!
I remember that Prunus from last year - gorgeous!

I hope you didn't damage yourself when those potatoes fell? Bella might like a blog I did a few days ago - greetings to her and of course to Beryl. Look after yourself.

Your photo's are gorgeous! Love the Omphalodes, the colour is so striking. As for the slugs eating the Clematis - you better put a note out, not allowed to eat the Pope!

Hywel great to see you back. I was only thinking of you earlier - looking at some fabulous cacti in an open garden :-)

Some gorgeous flowers there. Love the prunus such a lovely flower.

Hywel its good to see you on here, also to be able to acknowledge your blog, I guess you really killed that laptop, they don't bounce do they, don't mind admitting there were times when I felt like dropping mine as well, pleased you didn't get harmed dropping the pot of potatoes, bet you had a good swearing session.
Nice set of photo's Hywel, its a good year for the Aquilegia's isn't it,my blue and white one is all blue this year, shame but I know from past experience it will probably be back to two shades next year, I still have some lovely colours amongst them, you never know what you are getting, thats one reason I love them and just allow them their freedom...Beryl chose well with her Hellebore, its a lovely colour and your Amaryllis is a real beauty..

It's so good to see you are back with us again, Hywel! (Though I, myself, have been rather absent during this month!)

Your spring flower photos are very good & I like them all! Impossible to choose one above another! Though I confess to liking the Amaryllis! LOL!

29 May, 2017

Thank you all :)

30 May, 2017

You're welcome! :-))

I like you - if possible - to ID a Fuchsia I was given at church on Sunday. I'll write a brief blog & perhaps you might know of it.

So nice to see you here again and I hope all is well with you and Beryl.

Beautiful photos, the Amarylis was a lovely colour, lucky you to find that one.

Your aquilegias are so pretty. Ours have suffered this year and I can only think it is the lack of rain and the dry, cold air earlier on. The flowers are generally smaller than usual and don't last as long.
Each year is different I suppose but yours look fine!

30 May, 2017

Its lovely to see your garden and all its beautiful blooms and glad you were able to share it with us.

Thanks for all your comments :)

Hi Hywel, so nice to see you back. You have been sorely missed. You have some very beautiful flowers there, as usual :-). I also have a confession, the one and only fuchsias last year didn't make it through the winter. I had wrapped it up but in one of the storms, it got ripped out of the pot with all it's wrapping. Have bought an other one called Army Nurse and hopefully have better luck this time. Hope your elbow is better and you didn't get too hurt when you dropped the saucepan.

31 May, 2017

Thanks for your comment. Army Nurse is a lovely variety and hardy in my garden for many years. I hope it does well for you. Sorry to hear about the other one.
My elbows I'm afraid to say, have arthritis. They are still painful and I have to be careful how I lift things.
Hope you are all right too.

31 May, 2017

I'm so sorry to hear about your Arthritis, it can be so debilitating, Tim has started to get it in his balls of his feet which make it painful at times walking. A friend of ours swears by New Zealand green muscle tablets. Tim not very good at taking tablets but even he is thinking of taking tyem :-). My older dog Ben is even on it. Lol. I've been working really hard this last week on my front garden, most nights till 10pm out there and plan once I've finished to do a before and after blog :-). Glad Army nurse a good one. This time I plan to plant it in the garden rather then a pot. Anyway, good to have you back.

1 Jun, 2017

Thank you :)
I am no good at taking tablets either.
Sorry to hear about Ben.

1 Jun, 2017

Thanks Hywel, Unfortunately Ben is just one of those dogs that either hurts himself or gets illnesses, bless him, he even suffers with hayfever and this last Boxing day cost me £500 as he managed to get a bad cut on his wrist pad and had to be operated on. He is fine now but get a bit stuff so put him on the Green musle.

Hello Hywel you garden is looking good !! blinking arthritis seems to love elbows , knees and any other joint it fancy's ? Maybe elbow supports would help I wear a support on my knee .

2 Jun, 2017

Thank you all for your comments.

I hope Ben will be all right in the future Jen.

I've got supports Kidsgran. They help a bit :)

4 Jun, 2017

Thank you Hywel :-).

I was not aware you were ill or in discomfort. I am glad you are better. Your pics are so colorful. I like the tulip and did not know columbine reseeded. I wonder if it would in Vermont? I have a low key garden this year as I am thinking about all the maintenance. However to others, it might seem a bit too many beds, as it does to me also! But what can you do, if there are woodchucks, deer, rabbits and chipmunks that eat, eat, eat...Never mind the bugs. It is so sublime to hear the birds chirping and the the bee buzz that I could never give up on gardens....

14 Jul, 2017

Thank you :)
I've got arthritic knees and elbows and a ruptured disc in my back ... lol getting old now !
The Columbine reseeds all over my garden. I have to throw some of them away. They come up in all the wrong places.
Good luck with your garden :) Nice to see all those wild animals.
