Flowers from a friend.

My friend brought me a bunch of cut flowers from her garden on Friday. It was a lovely change from the usual shop bought we exchange.
We strolled down to Hull marina/Fruit Market for a bite to eat at lunchtime and then meandered past several eateries/bars/shops along to the Humber Street distillery/gin bar. We only had a couple of diet tonics ☺️ but the waiter kindly put our drinks in gin glasses! Sat in the sunshine and enjoyed the afternoon, at a safe distance from others.
My friend is due to go to Portsmouth next week with her husband, so, she said it was a trial run for eating out/social distancing.

What a happy way to spend the day. We've almost forgotten how to socialise! The flowers always mean more when they're freshly picked, so a lovely gift.

Thank you Julia, she had wrapped them so prettily too.
It must’ve been quite an emotional reunion for you and your friend! Especially with life being quite surreal over several months. I’m pleased you both enjoyed your time together;you probably had a lot to catch up on.
I can appreciate the anxiety beforehand.

Sounds lovely Kate. We ate out quite a lot when we were in Dorset last week. It felt a lot more like 'normal'. But then when we came home we slumped again when we realised that it is still far from 'normal'. Hey ho, at least we had a break.

That sounds like a perfect day out Kate, and what lovely flowers from your friend too. Made me smile 🙂 .

Thanks Karen, I’m pleased you enjoyed your holiday to Dorset - haven’t been there for several years. I think I can imagine what you mean about it feeling a bit more normal when you were there. You felt some sort of routine to being away, then you come home and it’s back to the way you’ve been living for many months. It’s almost like a little escape going away.
