Beggar the weather...

Those were the words my door fitters announced themselves with this morning, they had already rung and apologised as they were running late, I had begun to wonder if they wouldn`t be coming at all, they arrived at 11am fitted my french windows at the back and a new front door and frame and left at 3.15am, at one point the poor chaps were in the van drinking a cuppa I`d provided and they were stuck for a while, it was horrendous, ironically the sun made a grand entrance whilst they were tidying up, lol..
Before..
After…
That is going to take a bit of getting used to as we had a huge sliding one for over 20yrs and could see everywhere in the garden…
I did have a wander around whilst the dinner was cooking, as you can tell the sun was hiding again although everywhere has dried nicely…
I`ve been waiting patiently for the next one to flower, I think they are gorgeous..
The biggest shock of the day is the next pic, I was amazed seeing these flowers this morning, lots of you will know I`ve waited donkeys years to get any of my cacti to flower, so I`m really chuffed even though there are only two….

Great doors Lincslass!! I notice how much further on your garden is compared to mine in Scotland, and your white roses are not suffering from rot with too much rain. I grow mine with sweet peas too. :o)

Hi Sue ...
Your garden is looking pretty :o)
The new doors and walls are a great idea.
Do you think they will be a lot better for you and the dogs ?

The doors look lovely Lincs and so does your garden despite the weather......especially the gorgeous poppy....
How have the dogs taken to being excluded.....but I don,t suppose youve been able to sit out there much...

Your cactus is beautiful Sue ! ... I had to say that lol.
Your new doors are lovely. I had brown ones like that in the old cottage, looking out to the garden. I miss them, although there are French doors here aswell, but it's not the same as the old cottage.
Your plants in the garden look great in spite of the rain. I don't think the plants mind it as much as we do.
It was nice to see you had company while taking the photos :o)

Thanks all, I`m pleased to say that both dogs are being very good so far as regards the doors, we have had no attempt from Brynner to put his paws anywhere near them, he has always insisted on laying on the inner doorstep but now I think all the framework has put him off, fingersxx naturally, it was good yesterday to sit outside with my coffee but as with all good things its back indoors today and look at the puddles instead, lol..
The dark poppies are a first this year, I was given some seeds last autumn from a lady who has an allotment next to my son, so I`ve been waiting for the outcome and hoping they came true.
Leigh the ones in the planter are called Love Lies Bleeding, never had them before, the ones in the garden are really struggling with all the wet....

Ooh, yeah thats really nice, how long did it take to grow, did you sow it? let me know how it does i quite like it! :o)

It is Lulu, Hywel probably knows the correct name, I have had it for over 10 yrs with no flowers hence the excitement, lol, Caspar is a British Blue Pointer, very comical cat, he thinks he`s a human and definitely owns us....
Leigh I did grow them myself, thousands in a packet so if you decide to grow some in the future don`t sow the whole packet ,lol, they are fast growing as well...

Haha, ive learned that already lol had to buy a greenhouse to house the silly amount i sowed lol :o)

Those doors are lovely Lincs, can't you see all the garden through these ? Your garden looks great inspite of the rain and I love that idea with the little bird cage.
