There comes a time when they have to go..

Iris in and behind the pond, they had gone mad this year..

Couldn’t see the little bed at the back of the pond and as the Iris had escaped and into the bed all the plants were getting choked out of house and home.
It was not too hot so I figured the fish would not come to any harm whilst I took drastic action….

See folks there is a little bed there but Oh boy!!!!!!!! that was a job-n-half and certainly took some doing..

Thats better ….

I hate that protection but needs must, plans are afoot to try some new that I have found online..

……………………………………………………………………….

The bottom pond also needs sorting but is on hold as the hundreds of little frogs haven’t wandered off into the big wide world yet..

Such fun filled days I have……

That was a big job Lincs, I used to have hundreds of Iris and they do overgrow, I know, but also they are b's to dig up too, hey it beats going to the gym anyway. The garden is looking good.

Everything is looking good, Lincs.
Assume we're talking flag iris here. I got rid of mine a couple of years ago, tho' as GM says, they're not the easiest to dig up!! Still have the odd one which survived the purge. I do like them but they are just too thuggish for my small garden.

They are Iris for the pond but they liked the garden as well, huge yellow ones in the fishpond, luckily the ones in the bottom pond are the smaller variety, blue ones and lovely when in flower, as you can see they have also gone mad, all in baskets as well but it certainly doesn't stop them....

Job well done.

I like that you've now exposed a very pretty area Lincs - that conifer is just lovely.
Hope you aren't too achy and sore!

Really lovely. I love your garden. I'm sat in the garden reading this. I've been on at my husband about putting in a small pond for a while now and just (laughingly) said to him 'Well, she's got TWO ponds and I haven't even got one!' :-)

Diane the bike was a present to ourselves for our 40th anniversary, it came from Mr Scripps Garage in the village they use to film Heartbeat, I received a smaller one as a birthday present this year so I now have the start of a collection, lol....
Snoop there is nothing posh about me or my garden, lol, I'm hanging on but cannot wait to get eyes and knee sorted, bit annoyed at myself as I'm so careful when working inside and out and then twisted my knee getting into daughters car yesterday, felt quite sick at the time and had to count very slowly before telling my family that I was ok, we were in Scarborough at the time and I reckon they really wanted an excuse to pop into the hospital, its the one they use when filming The Royal, lol....

A job well done Lincs. I've got overgrown plants in my pond, but they are too heavy to lift out as they've escaped their large pots. I've no fish now so I don't suppose the frogs and newts object. I suppose I'll have to get a 'man' in if it gets too out of hand:-)

I have a man and his help was "Don't you hurt yourself" he earned himself a very dirty look, took the hint and retreated back indoors, LOL...

I'm slow catching up these days lol ...
You've done a good job of sorting the pond area out. I like the pebbles :o)

Lol Lincs, I meant the type of man you get in:-)))

Those Iris do spread and can take over, so, better out than in !!
Oh, and I think you we're given very good advice ... What would you do without him???? ;@))

They look so nice for a while and then suddenly....they end up everywhere obscuring many other attractive plants - I am speaking from experience here !!!
Really like your alterations.

Excellent blog, Lincs!
It's good to know irises can be bullies, as I will watch them like a hawk from now on. ;-)
I've PM'd you about your knee, incidently.
