Paris.... Part two

Notre Dame a grand sight no matter what the weather does……

The gardens in front and to the side are very well set out, they even had veg and salad crops amongst the flowers, its a great place to relax (weather permitting)have a rest, snack and a cuppa and take lots of photo’s, there was an exhibition on whilst we were there and the queues were horrendous, as we’d visited a few years ago we didn’t join them, however we were in those gardens when the bells struck up, it was absolutely amazing and went on for a long time, I would have stayed longer but Sherryl wanted to make the most of a sunny spell so we moved on.

The view from across the river and a very quick change in the sky…….

As you can see one was taken whilst sheltering under the bridge, we spent a lot of time dodgng from place to place, lol…..

Pont de l`Archeveche, popularly known as the Love Lockbridge, you can see why, both sides are completely covered in locks of all shapes and sizes.

Lovers come to this bridge from all over the world, the idea is to declare your undying love, lock it away for eternity and throw the keys into the Seine, who says romance is dead!!!!!! looks amazing when the sun shines on all those locks but alas not in these photo’s…….
Arch de Triumphe

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier..

Placed under the arch in 1920…

A place for standing and pondering happenings of the past also events going on even now…..
…………………………………………………………………….. Early evening stroll up the Champs-Elysees and a browse in the shops and arcades, (note it wasn’t raining)

How weird is that!!!

Fancy buying an egg, nope!!! cannot justify the cost of even a tiny one….

Sherryl however did treat herself to a ring and a new handbag, the latter of which was an outlandish price to my mind, I was " informed" that it was Designer, Real Leather and was purchased from one of the very upmarket type stores in Paris so what did I expect, that put me in my place, LOL..
Then its past the arch, across the river and past the tower as our hotel is that way, might even arrive back there dry for a change….

The lights on the tower have been changed and although still looking good if you are seeing it lit up for the first time, Sherryl was a bit disappointed as they are not a patch on how they looked last time, also De Trocadero another place popular with all visitors and a particular place I was looking forward to seeing again was undergoing some work so all the fountains and lights were turned off and it was full of scaffolding and huts and suchlike a bit like a muddy building site..

Thanks for part two, Notre Dame looks magnificent, and that bridge! So Romantic........

Shame about the rain but you managed to find some nice shops to shelter in!

Great photos Lincs - I remember being given a huge jigsaw of Notre Dame a few years ago, I never did finish it!
Now shopping - that's more like it. My mum would have been the exact same as you. We often have that sort of mother/daughter thing going on in shops :)

must say...I really love the golden lighting on the Tour d'Eiffel. your photos took me back to our own visit to Paris last year. it was a really amazing break. We had a lot of good times...and the cathedral gardens were really lovely as you saw. The locks on the bridges are really romantic...I loved them. Thanks for sharing! :)

That's what it's for Snoop! ;)

Snoop we have to gad about, we do the same wherever we go, can't waste a precious minute when one is away, cram as many sights in as possible, we are dab hands at ending up in the wrong place and boy our tootsies ache at bedtimes but its all good fun.......
Pam I' ve told you all before that I DON'T like shopping but sometimes I can't get out of it, that bag took ages to choose but I have to admit it is a very good one, really soft leather and as you say its a special treat. We came out of the metro near Notre Dame on one of the days and found a marvellous indoor market, it was all things for the garden, now that one I could have spent a fortune if only I'd had an extra suitcase....
Sheila thats the only good thing about all the rain we were getting, at nightime all the lights were being reflected everywhere even from the traffic so it was very colourful...

Scottish my daughter had a jigsaw made for me as a xmas present, one of the big thousand piece ones, it was four of the photo's we had taken on our first visit, Notre Dame was one of the pics she had chosen and it was an absolute nightmare trying to sort out the four scenes, I had it in my folder for over two years and kept going back to it, only had about twenty pieces of sky to finish and biddy Caspar jumped onto the table last winter and knocked it flying, LOL...needless to say I have never got it out since.....

You are so lucky! we lived in Paris for about three years.
We just loved it. I was very sure that I wanted my three children to learn French. Learn it they did, We were having lunch in Brittany and a woman asked me why did I adopt three French children? she could not believe we were all in the same family and American. We never stopped being amazed at the most beautiful Architecture, and the food, andthe....I could go on and on. My absolute favorite city. Every possible Fete is celebrated, new windows each time, so perfectly decorated. Fresh bread every morning, and more. You have to take it hook line and sinker, or else you will not like so much about Paris. So enjoy it and love it.

I forgot to mention, your photos of Notre Dame made me cry they were so wonderful.

There are many fabulous buldings, bridges and statues it was difficult to choose which ones to show, I took over 900 photo's, cannot remember how many of those are the tower itself but it changes in the light all the time., my daughter read online that they are concerned about all the locks corroding the metal of the bridge but as you saw that hasn't yet stopped anyone......
Hywel we didn't go up the Tower this time but on our last visit we did both that and the Arch de Triumph, the views from both are well worth the effort and we have lots of lovely pics from that time, my knee and the rain, plus the very long queues put us off, standing in the sun for over two hours was bad enough, in the rain it was a big no thankyou...
