I have been flat out working on the nursery this week but took sometime yesterday for a little fun.

18 months ago I bought this giant croc “which was a dog bed in its original life”

its nearly 2 feet long. So obviously I had to put succulents in it..

Well 18 months later and a few photos to watch it grow…and after it has been outside all that time i am over the moon with how it has grown.

It’s on a west facing wall and gets all the rain but is protected from the cold north winds. The compost is very gritty to allow the water to drain away through the croc holes.

Spurred on by this success I have been collecting old crocs not all mine! So yesterday i had a little fun…

After I mixed up some compost…50% sand and grit 50% soil…I filled the up firming up the compost into the shoe. I then chose a few over grown plants with plenty of shoots and took cuttings straight into the crocs. Some people use rooting powder and or leave cuttings to callous over but I find if I choose easy to root plants like the jade plant or this crassula then I find they root well by just poking them in.

I am loving the little pink ones… especially when placed by the giant one…

I am sure the croc material helps to insulate the roots they sure insulate my feet..crocs and socks are soo fashionable…he he he

Cant wait to watch my shoe collection develop…
Love shoes…

here are some others i did earlier….

Stilettos next!
Thanks for reading….:-)

Twice!!! Thanks Terra

Do it Jane....don't forget the pictures.

The giant croc is made out of the same stuff Dd2. I bought it for 4 pound at a boot sale. Look up Sasquatch dog beds.. 99 POUND! It started the croc planting!

No Stera they will stay in the tunnel till the are rooted and growing then we'll I just don't know.. But I will find somewhere for them to go. Maybe hang them up or fix them to a wall

Thanks for all the lovely comments and encouragement.
