Looks great! I love alpine sinks/troughs. You're lucky you've got someone to move it into position for you!

I felt as if I was doing this project with you all the way to the end!
I love anything like this and think you have made a wonderful job of it. Once it was in place, I bet you loved doing the 'pretty' bits!!

You were so lucky to find the sink - they aren't all that easy to come by these days. Its going to look great when those lovely plants have clumped up - well of course it looks good now!

How lucky, I love that sink, so difficult to come by, and it looks to be in perfect condition too......well done on the planting.....

Worth all the hard work and 'thinking time' it looks lovely especially with the heuchera surround

Looks good Gee. And to think, I couldn't even give two sinks away last year. They ended up going to the tip! I couldn't believe it.

Thank you all :)
I tried to obtain a sink via Ebay before I heard that my friend had one but the problem was finding one near enough to collect and, of course, some people don't have the sort of vehicle that could accommodate one. I have enjoyed planting it up etc and look forward to the little plants spreading.

It is beautiful Gee, well done to your grandson trundling it for you it looks really good on it's plinth surrounded by Heuchara and the little heart is a lovely added touch I'm sure your plants will do well with all the care and thought you have given to your sink project - definitley a swimming success :o)

Thanks you, Neellan, grandson and son in law have been round today to try and solve my recycling bin problem - I think it will be fine :)

Great to see the finished project Gee, it looks really well planted up and the plinth with the Heucheras in front really sets it off! Those little plants will very soon fill out I cant believe how much mine have spread just 1 year on;0)

How lucky and pleased to read its gone to a good home. Your plant choices are lovely. I bet it won't be long till it all fills out and looks like it's always been there.
I think the dwarf alchemilla is Erothropda (check spelling)

Really good to get a view of your reorganised garden Gee. I have 3 of those sinks. What my maternal gran used to call a 'slopstone'. She had one in her kitchen across the street. My brother has that one and it has a lovely brown conker like glaze. 2 were abandoned on a patch of waste land we once bought and one was donated by Alf nextdoor. One of mine is very neglected now and needs a turf out and start over again for about the fifth time. Your sink is about the right inspiration at the right time.

It looks great Gee all planted up... :))

Thanks, Dorjac and Holly. I have been surprised at how quickly the little plants have perked up since being planted but I hope they don't become too big :)

Thanks, Sanbaz, I was very lucky and even luckier to have help moving it - it seemed to weigh a ton even when empty :)

Gee thats great, they are really difficult to find these days, you can pay a lot of money for them now and to think we used to be pleased to get rid of them, I like the way you have planted it up and surrounded it with the Heurcheras and it won't take long for the alpines to spread and fill out, I like the way you have built it up, good idea to make the plinth, well done grandson and son-in-law as well, we all need some help with the huffing and puffing sometimes....

Great blog Gee. I love what you have done with the planting/positioning.

I wonder how your lovely sink container is getting on in this hot weather Gee? I have let my neglected sink die off. Waiting for the weather to cool down to be able to empty it out and replant it with some good alpines.

Hi Dorjac, it's doing fine with the plants slowly spreading out and in flower. The slugs did pay a visit - but I soon saw them off! The friend who sold me the sink came to see it and was pleased that it was being put to some use too. She is an enthusiastic buyer of plants but doesn't do any gardening and is not very good at looking after them so I often end up with her 'failures'. The most recent was a bedraggled looking Fatsia - it is now in a large pot outside my front door and looks lovely :) I thought the weather was cooler today until I walked Millie and we both came back hot and exhausted :)

Wow, they are really heavy aren't they, but it looks first class now, especially with the heuchera in front, which really finishes it off. Lots of hard work but worth it.
