I was given this pretty planter of miniature Narcissii and Ivy earlier in the week,by my Daughter’s partner,as a thank you,and some of the tiny flowers have opened to day,to cheer me up,on such a miserable damp day..

The Ivy will be planted in my Chimney pot for a while ,and then transplanted to join the other two Ivies to cover the remaining part of the high stone wall.(just out of shot to the right.). Both started in display pots, some years ago,so it has a long way to go,to catch up ,hence the high hopes..:o)

Well worth feeding the family on a weekly basis :o)..I also had a Lavender bought recently too..no complaints from me..now,what shall I cook for them next week ? Lol

Now I have visions of you climbing up the roof to reach the chimney Sandra! Seriously, what a lovely, thoughtful gift from the lad - very pretty Ivy.
Weather here is dismal too with heavy rain and a thunder storm early on. I've been baking small cakes and a cottage pie - but I'd prefer to be outdoors in some sunshine! Graham is coming over tonight to watch the Albion match live on Sky TV so I shall be back on GoY no doubt. :o)

Oh dear not more footie........I wonder if OH knows about it? sorry Bloomer, got sidetracked there.
A lovely gift, and your wall is a picture, love it, I am a great fan of ivy when it is grown like that......stunning.

25 Apr, 2014

I bet Peter does know! I shall be in a different room to them as I just know how excitable they get - and why do they think talking to the TV will change the game? Lol!

25 Apr, 2014

I love gifts like that and isn't it grand to know you are appreciated...Raining harder here as well and also gone quite cold......

25 Apr, 2014

What a lovely thoughtful gift xxx

Shirley I have friendly seagulls flying up for the last match at Notts.......

25 Apr, 2014

What a lovely planter and a lovely thought ! Its been miserable here today too and cold ! Yesterday was like a summers day ! Weird weather !

25 Apr, 2014

So weird Rose......its been so cold and damp

25 Apr, 2014

Lol,Shirley..you get dafter :o) and you know we live in a Bungalow..no chimney or pot either ! just my well loved crown top one...Thank you,he is very thoughtful..and likes his food :o) enjoy your own space in the other room tonight,.. we will see you on here later then .? much more interesting than boring footie ! x

25 Apr, 2014

Thank you Dd..it was a lovely thought, and I look out at the wall from my kitchen window,so it makes dreary chores more bearable..:o)

25 Apr, 2014

Thanks Sue..never look a gifthorse ...as they say..:o)It has rained more heavily since teatime, and it's quite dark too,but it doesn't feel quite as cold..what a change from yesterday..

25 Apr, 2014

Thank you Pam..we both needed something to cheer us up today ! :o)

25 Apr, 2014

Thank you Rose.. I agree about the weather..:o( although it has been very dry here for ages,so it was welcome at first..but there are limits,so it needs to stop now..

25 Apr, 2014

Its got warmer here now 7.45pm, still drizzling though and very foggy and thats in town bet its bad in the countryside, right weird today, I agree my garden has had a good drink and my waterbutts are topped up again, anyway I've caught up with my housework so want to go back outside...

25 Apr, 2014

It's nice when somebody appreciates what you do for them :o) I like Ivies. They are so easy and the variegated ones give year round colour.

25 Apr, 2014

Your ivies have done very well covering hte wall - it Doesn't seem long since they were quite small. That's a lovely camellia too. Isn't it nice to get unexpected presents? And htat's a double, both ivy and container.

25 Apr, 2014

Garden gifts are the very best kind of gifts don't you think? I love wall covered ivies and they are great for the wildlife too. Wishing your wee ivy all the best, it's got a lot of catching up to do.
Liking the Camellia and Pieris combo - they really compliment each other well.

25 Apr, 2014

Pam, enjoy the visit from the 'Southerners'!

Sandra, our bungalow still has a chimney, but it was built back in the '40s so I'm not surprised! I have just been told by the men that I could kick a ball better than some of the Brighton players - it must be bad then!

25 Apr, 2014

It is Hywel..although it wasn't necessary, but a very nice gesture..I hope the Ivy does well, and it will be nice to have a different variegation from Goldheart..

25 Apr, 2014

Thank you Stera..they just take off all of a sudden, don't they, without realising..There is a Bowling green behind the wall, and OH has had to walk round the past two years,to keep it in trim at the top..we don't want the bowlers being entwined ,and he's no Sherpa Tensing to climb up it! Lol The Camellia has been at it's best this year, and still lots of buds to open..I shall use the pretty planter indoors at a later date..

25 Apr, 2014

Thank you Scottish..I was thrilled to receive it..We had bluetits nesting in the bird box on the wall, the first year we put it up,but sadly, none since..and we can't even see it anymore..we have a few cats that prowl around now,a shame,as it's good camouflage ..glad you like the Camellia and Pieris together, there are also similar toned Heucheras doing well in that bed too, gifted from a kind Goyer a few years ago..the bare patch in the centre is awaiting an Astilbe to get going..it's just starting to emerge :o)

25 Apr, 2014

Oh dear,Shirley, your Michael and Graham will be shouting at the telly then ! Lol..Is it all over yet,and peace reigns once more? stay on here, till it is..unless they won of course :o)

25 Apr, 2014

Sandra ... Seagulls 1 - Yeovil 0 ... I know this as they both yelled so loudly when the goal was scored a couple of minutes ago! Even Megan has come to sit near me to get away from them ... lol!

25 Apr, 2014

I heard them from here,Shirley..I am going to ring the noise abatement line, and the RSPCA for poor Megan ! :o))

25 Apr, 2014

Final score is 2- nil to the Albion so it's a very happy household now ... Megan is going out 'Mousing' for half an hour and I'm just going to enjoy the peace and quiet ... :o)

25 Apr, 2014

25 Apr, 2014

25 Apr, 2014

25 Apr, 2014

Lovely, thoughtful gift, Sandra...I'm trying to strike some yellow ivy cuttings, from Carolines garden, don't know whether i've taken them from the right place!!Oh well got two choices!!
Jeyes fluid eh!!on offer at Aldi.... just what I want to clean some algae from the patio, that the jet washer won't shift.Poor things been working overtime this week, our patio & Carolines drive. The kittens came running in when they heard and saw all the water, one slid the length of the utility room, cos its paws were wet thru...know I shouldn't have laughed but looked so funny...wished my camera was handy, might have win £250 on YBF!!lol.

26 Apr, 2014

Thank you Sbg..all gifts garden related are always very welcome :o)

26 Apr, 2014

Thanks Neena..and I agree,something that will live on for a long time,hopefully..unlike Chocolates,which won't ! Lol.
Although I'm not averse to those either ! :o)

26 Apr, 2014

They all seem to be having good offers,Pam..that is a good one for a Clem too..Sorry to rub it in,but the sun is shining this morning..but set not to last for long I fear..

26 Apr, 2014

Thanks Val,I'm sure your Ivy cuttings should take ok..good luck..The Jeyes fluid is £2.99p for 300 mls..I've wanted some for for a while ,for the same purpose as you,but put it off,as it's been more expensive at other places..anyway,at least I didn't have to pay for it :o) It will last me a long time too..

26 Apr, 2014

Lol Sandra Jeyes Fluid may not sound Romantic but Russell had you on his mind even with all the bargains around him in Aldi, hope he is also going to clean the patio with it for you as well [he is so devoted] ;0))

26 Apr, 2014

Lol,Carole..I bet I make a start first..!I usually do,but Russ always ends up doing most of it..I'm a demon with a brush :o) and no comments about being a scrubber either, young lady ! Lol.x

So nice to be appreciated and what a really lovely, thoughtful gift.
I love the last photo, a real springlike scene.

Using John's tablet to do this as we are getting a new computer at last! So, bear with me and I shall be in touch soon! It is dull and miserable here and I am missing the sunshine!

27 Apr, 2014

Welcome home,Chris..I hope you had a lovely holiday..and thank you..The little daffs are opening up well now,I'm so pleased with my gift:o) It gave a poor forecast for today..lots of heavy showers, and we haven't had a drop of rain ! nice and sunny since lunchtime..sorry you are having withdrawal symptoms with yours..a big contrast, from Cyprus I guess..:o(
You wil be pleased about getting a new computer..lovely..

27 Apr, 2014

all that culinary effort for a few daffs and an ivy!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously, you can't beat a family lunch. a brandy would do me nicely, but my son-in-law is a bit skint.

29 Apr, 2014

Maybe,Maisiesdad..but I have also had lots of other nice gifts..Flowers in abundance for Valentines day,and Mothers day,and a yummy Easter egg..whoever said the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, wasn't far wrong..and a Roast dinner,or home made meat and potato pie, shows his appreciation :o) well worth the effort .Lol.

29 Apr, 2014

Not too pleased about the new computer Sandra as it is Windows 8 and is completely different in every way! We pick it up tomorrow and it will take a lot of getting used to - if only I was 10 years old, then I would find it all so easy!!

30 Apr, 2014

Oh dear,Chris..I'm not good with new technology either..but sometimes we have no other choice,do we? Even Thomas is better than me at some of it ! I'm sure you will master it..stay cool :o) x

Our son's changed mine to Linux, which is simpler than Windows 8 and is also free. Its quite similar to the older Windows (eg XP) in its layout but not quite so helpful - finding things on menus takes getting used to.
But you can't run Photoshop, if that matters to you - the equivalent is there all right but again not quite as intuitive.
I don't know why Microsoft have to keep changing things and making them more and more complicated. I got fed up with all the presets, Styles etc, it just got too bossy. I suspect that now they have roomsful of techies and program writers they simply have to give them something to do. I have heard that people are leaving Windows 8 in droves.

What a lovely gift, I love ivy although it does get out of hand in my garden I wouldn't be without it. Birds like ivy too:-)

3 May, 2014

It is,Ba,and thank you...I have just been taking the ivy out of it,and was surprised to see two little plugs of it.. One is now in my tall Chimney pot (not on the roof ! Lol ) and the other in a wall trough..poor little thing is all on it's own yet ..not for much longer :o)

4 May, 2014

I bought lots of different fancy ivy one winter, only four have survived ... it was a moment of madness:-)

4 May, 2014

That's a shame,Ba..we all have those moments..too many ! :o)
