Valadel, the tall purple spire plant is Lysimachia or purple loosestrife, I pinched it from the local river.

Thanks for your kind remarks, both the cottage and garden I've made to suit our needs/likes. It's taken years to get the garden manageable yet nice to look at. The Cottage is a Country cottage in every way. Though small it has solid oak floors and tiled ground floor, muddy boots (and paws) no problem. We have no services like busses ect. but on three sides we have good views.

The perfect cottage with a perfect garden, just the right size.

Your garden is very scenic and peaceful, you should be very proud. I aspire to have something like that.

I often dream of having a garden where trees can replace shrubs and shrubs replace perennials with a stream running through.......I could go on. But contentment is 'our little patch' where eve we are. I often look up at an airliner and think, they can see more from up there but I can see more from down here.

Thanks all of you, I appreciate your nice words. As for 'planning' well I'm not good at that, I just stand there with a cuppa and envisage how it may look if, then I move things around. I have to say that it helps when you've others on line willing to advise. This is the first year that I've managed to get it all in flower all Summer. It's taken years lol That said there is a gap after the tulips and before the early summer. I use Wallflowers but they obstruct the herbaceous a bit.

i agree heron pepole on here are brill and ur garden is too. we had our 1st summer were its flowered all summer in spite of the wether . x

Purple loosestrife, common in the wild but beautiful even when in seed as the foliage turns red.
