I still have not turned my heating on and the grass is still growing fast so still mowing every week. The colour from flowers is quite striking for mid October.

Lovely photo`s Drc, its grand to see so much still flowering, frost here this morning but not bad enough to hit the flowers yet, I was still cutting the grass weekly, unfortunately my mower is having treatment, stupid thing gave up the other day, hoping its not drastic , lol...

Looks great!!
Grass is still growing here, but flowers are all kaput, unlike yours.

16 Oct, 2011

Gosh! You have so much still in flower. What is the large leaved bush with the cream 'bobble' type flowers? (note the highly technical description!)Don't think I've seen it before.
Lovely garden.

16 Oct, 2011

It really does look lovely. Lots of flowers out here still too and certainly no heating - it never goes on until 1st November, whatever the weather. How mean is that!?

16 Oct, 2011

You have a lot of lovely colour in your autumn garden. The two roses are lovely & the penstemon is always a great favourite of mine too.

16 Oct, 2011

I had to laugh at Ojibway's lovely description Denise - it's a Fatsia japonica, Ojibway. I must see if mine has any bobbles on it - lol. It won't have as many as the one in the photo, because it's growing in shade. Useful and a great architectural plant!

Lovely blog Denise and lovely colourful photos. Pleased to hear you're feeling better.

16 Oct, 2011

Thanks, Spritzhenry, for the name of the plant. I've looked it up and, of course, it is not fully hardy and it would have to be, here. Ah well ....

16 Oct, 2011

It has been an incredible October, and your garden still has so much colour in it.

16 Oct, 2011

It's nice to have some late colour :o) All still looking wonderful with you

17 Oct, 2011

Looking lovely, Denise, with lots of colour ... may I ask how much sun/shade your Heuchera bed receives? ... I am concerned ny Heucheras will have too much sun where they are now ... really don't fancy re-siting them though! . . . . .

17 Oct, 2011

Thanks everyone its been a warm and dry time here.

17 Oct, 2011

How wonderful to see so much colour in your garden at this time of year - and they all look so healthy. I love that pink Schizostylis and the Heuchera bed.

17 Oct, 2011

lovely pics Denise and still lots of colour there, :o))

17 Oct, 2011

What a fantastically colourful display Denise! All looking scrummy . . . I particularly like the white "daisy" type flower with purple markings (11th from the end!) - feel I should know, but can't think :((

(heating just gone on - silly me, shouldn't have been out in the freezing wind playing croquet . . .)

17 Oct, 2011

Thanks everyone. Hi Sheila 11th form the end is an Anemone St brigid, did you mean 7th form the end? thats an Rhodanthemum agadir - Atlas Daisy.

17 Oct, 2011

Well, maths was never my strong point, but yes - I did mean 11th - probably shouldn't have used the word "daisy"! That Anemone is new to me: how tall does it grow? Thanks Denise.

17 Oct, 2011

17 Oct, 2011

Sheila Anemone 'De Caen' or 'St Brigid' are corms planted in the autumn they flower from Spring to July usually. The height is 4-8" and they come in all colours, well worth planting as they come up year after year. Thanks PansyPotter.
