TWEET and MOW

The gravel gardens continue to be happy and healthy
… geraniums, aucubas, heucheras, ferns, skimmias …
……………………………………………………………………..
Shrubs have been doing their own thing …
… pretty flowers on the Pileostegia viburnoides …
……………………………………………………………………..
and festive firethorn berries, vivid amid the conifers …
……………………………………………………………………..
with welcome late blossom on armandii and syringa …
……………………………………………………………………..
But Crocus budgie knows about my sore shoulder …
… he decided I shouldn’t tackle lawn mowing alone …
… so he sent out some Tweets … requests for help …
……………………………………………………………………..
Early next morning, a robin picked up the Tweet …
…………………………………………………………………….
and, as the sun rose, the dove cooed and twittered …
……………………………………………………………………..
… these Tweets were taken up by the Great Tits …
……………………………………………………………………..
… then relayed on to the little finches …
……………………………………………………………………..
… and to bigger, fatter feathered friends …
……………………………………………………………………..
The Tweets even travelled down below the climbers …
… to creatures camouflaged by autumn leaves …
……………………………………………………………………..
The first lawn helper to arrive was Conker …
… armed with his garden tool basket …
……………………………………………………………………..
Then Truffle …
… he was eager … couldn’t wait to get started …
… but his mower was out of control …
… Truffle, look out !!!
…………………………………………………………………….
…
… some of the spectators couldn’t bear to watch …
…
……………………………………………………………………..
…
be careful, Truffle .. you’re heading for the heucheras !
…………………………………………………………………….
Conker took over with his John Deere mower …
… much more manoeuvrable around curved borders …
……………………………………………………………………..
The robin stayed above, to supervise the tidying up …
……………………………………………………………………..
Truffle brought along his bucket-with-a-hole …
… useful as always …
……………………………………………………………………..
… a quick tour with the rake to clear the clippings …
……………………………………………………………………..
… and the lawn brooms completed the task …
……………………………………………………………………..
… Tweet, tweet … Great job ! … Well done !
……………………………………………………………………..
… evening … and time for a well-deserved rest …
……………………………………………………………………..
… bed time for everyone …
… except for Quality Control on night patrol …
… making a final inspection …

10 Oct, 2013
Lovely blog TT. Your gdn & dogs look fab as always. Hope the shoulder's soon better. Hope it's not a frozen shoulder cos that takes quite a long time.
10 Oct, 2013
Hello Feverfew ..
thank you .. shoulder and neck have been causing pain for some while ... physio exercises not helping so far !
10 Oct, 2013
A very welcome blog on this cold morning, brrr, we've been spoilt this year and it comes as a shock to the system.
Lovely photo's Terra, Crocus had Conker and Truffle well organised with their tasks, I could do with their help training up my team as they haven't got the hang of it yet, they are very good at apple scrumping though...
Your garden is as lovely as ever, its a treat to see all your visitors, I listen to my robin singing his little heart out but he's staying up high whilst Caspar is still going outside and I've noticed an increase in finches visiting which is good as they were missing for a couple of years.
Didn't know you had a bad shoulder, what have you been up to??( we are a sorry pair this year)
Lovely photo's and blog Terra...
10 Oct, 2013
Hi Sue ... Thank you :o)
This year my garden is full of sparrows .. amazing that none of those got into this blog !
Not sure how I damaged my shoulder, but the problem is making my upper arm and neck painful too ..
Such a good thing I have my helpers to do the heavy work ;o)
I hope you are able to be fitter and more active next year...
10 Oct, 2013
what a wonderful blog! thanks for sharing TT; brightened up my day and, I think, a lot of other people's as well. your dogs are amazing, there must be a lot of training in there.
never seen a gravel garden with plants in pots before: will they stay in pots, or is that just to acclimatise them before planting? if they stay that way, gives me another whole new area to think about.
10 Oct, 2013
Hi Fran .. Thanks...
I hope your house move plans are going well.
Re. my gravel garden photos, the back 2 rows of plants are in pots, and the row at the front are planted in the ground.
It is one of my favourite garden areas.
My dogs have just finished today's tricks practice. Indoors today and VERY enthusiastic ... Both dogs rushing at top speed around the room, towing various wheeled toys. Lol.
10 Oct, 2013
I go up tomorrow to sign up and pick up the keys; theyn it's officailly *mine*, and the packing frenzy starts. Never been that far by train, will be a little adventure all its own. *s* moving 200 miles further north at onset of hte cold season - why could'nt they have let me know about it in the heat wave?!!
10 Oct, 2013
Hi Fran ..
you'll be fine ... at the moment the cold weather is in the East ! It will be lovely for you to have the better surroundings ... safe journey :o)
10 Oct, 2013
Thinking about you Fran!
Terra, this is probably your best yet. do your helpers have a shed of their own for all their tools? the picture of Conker at the end is a winner!
10 Oct, 2013
thanks, love, that's reassuring! I need to go at least once by train, just to prove to myself that I *can* - so long as someone points me to the right platforms at Euston and Birmingham on the way out! on the way back doesn't matter so much; I'll have my new house-keys and if I end up taking a slight detour, well ...
10 Oct, 2013
This is a really great blog, TT! I loved very moment of it! Your garden looks so immaculate, but with Team Terra to help you it's no wonder it looks so good! It's simply amazing what you can get your dogs to do & you even rope in wildlife! You are so "up to date" with your "tweets" even though they were actually done by Crocus the Budgie & the birds!
However do you manage to train your dogs so well? It amazes me what you can do with them!
I really hope your shoulder gets better soon. I have a similar problem but in my case it comes from hauling too many too heavy bags of produce home from the allotment during the last few weeks.
Glad to hear you are getting the keys to your new house, Fran. All the very best as you set out on your travels!
10 Oct, 2013
Hi Terra Another prize blog. Crocus, Truffles, and Conker expressions took the biscuit. Tubs gets around also (LoL). Take care Tony.
10 Oct, 2013
Hi Balcony .. Thank you !
I hope your shoulder pains disappear quickly.
You did well with your allotment this year ...
lots of produce !
Thanks, Tony ...
I hope you get Tubs on camera soon !
Hello Stera ...
Glad you like this ...
Conker and Truffle have more garden tools than I do !!
11 Oct, 2013
First rate blog as usual TT, and your garden is looking amazing. Hope you get some respite soon from your painful shoulder.
11 Oct, 2013
Hi Stroller ..
Thanks for visiting ...
Hoping my shoulder eases up soon ...
11 Oct, 2013
TT I love your Blogs, especially when your 'helpers' are involved, and this blog is no exception. Super pics, wonderful captions. Hope your shoulder is better soon.
11 Oct, 2013
Thanks Waddy ..
We enjoyed making the blog .. fun taking all the photos, and writing the captions :o)

11 Oct, 2013

11 Oct, 2013
Thanks ... several all at once is okay by me ;o)
11 Oct, 2013

11 Oct, 2013
... Pembroke here I come ... ;o)
Thanks Hywel ..
Paws are doing their best to look after me very well. :o)
12 Oct, 2013
Absolutely brilliant Terra, as usual. You have some lovely plants there ! I was wondering where all our birds were, and the other morning watched our resident sparrows ( at least 20 , who nest in our pyracantha ) come out and cleared other birds off !
12 Oct, 2013
Thanks Rose ..
Lately there are about 40 sparrows in my back garden ...
... but they stay away from robin's special corner :o)
12 Oct, 2013
I always enjoy your blogs Terratoonie. You have a wonderful team to help you. Take care about that shoulder .
13 Oct, 2013
Hi Klahanie ..
Thank you... I'm hoping my shoulder will stop hurting soon ..with the help of Team Terra :o)
13 Oct, 2013
You're so lucky to have all these helpers Tt, no wonder your garden looks so fabulous in every season:-)
13 Oct, 2013
I missed this one,Terra..off on a short break for a couple of days,so just catching up..Lovely blog and pics as usual..the boys must be a great help, and I think Crocus is keeping watch over those birds..in HIS garden :o)
One can't be too careful Lol.You seem to get a lot more birds than I do.I love all your pots, and borders..:o)x
13 Oct, 2013
Hi Sandra .. Thanks ..
shall we go off and find that masseur in Pembroke ? ..
would be interesting .. Lol.
Yes.. plenty of birds around here ... quite a lot of trees in the neighbourhood .. :o) x
13 Oct, 2013
Thanks Bornagain ..
I try to include lots of evergreens for all year interest.
13 Oct, 2013
Yes indeed,Terra...:o) I know where Sue lives, ,so I will ask her to have the kettle on..she might regret giving it to me! Lol...looks like we might have to share the one beefy Masseur ? :o)) x
13 Oct, 2013
Lol. Sandra ... :o) x
13 Oct, 2013
Oh, what a great blog. I would love them around my garden. ;o)
13 Oct, 2013
Thanks Alex ..
I'm sure my dogs would enjoying helping you with your gardening. ;o)
13 Oct, 2013
I love those working dogs of yours. I bet they make your gardening fun and speedy. The 'night' patrol guard is ship-shape too. Very good reading.
14 Oct, 2013
Hello GMRainbow ..
Thanks for visiting.
Yes, you're right ..
...my helpers do make every gardening task fun.
... and the Night Patrol is doing a good job of reducing the slug population... :o)
14 Oct, 2013
Your dogs are so well behaved and well groomed as is your garden. It looks too good to be true. I know that people tidy up before they take pics, but yours looks as though it were always perfect. Good job all around! I forgot to say how I laughed when going through the shots....
14 Oct, 2013
So excited to think you two are coming for a massage - we have a spare room!
14 Oct, 2013
Nice to get lucky now and then Sue :o)..we will behave impeccably..I think..maybe Terra will, more than me, but I will try my best...Could you arrange a home visit for the Masseur? you might as well have one as well :o)
Three birds with one stone,so to speak...or a few stones between us,is more accurate Lol.
15 Oct, 2013
Hi Wells ..
Thank you .. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the blog and photos ... I try to keep the garden tidy ... lots of leaves falling right now !
16 Oct, 2013
Stera/Sandra ...
Not many stones on me ...
... not many pounds either ...Lol.
Three for two sounds a good deal ... ;o)
16 Oct, 2013
Not many on me either,Terra,so there won't be a lot to massage :o) x.
16 Oct, 2013
lol get a pysychic to do it - don't they say "the medium is the massage"??
16 Oct, 2013
Lol... Fran .. and Grease is the word ..
... anything to mend my shoulder .. ;o)
16 Oct, 2013
Lol Fran. For three of us a home visit should be no problem. But we would have to carry the massage table round and up the hill unless you want to lie on the floor! Is your poor shoulder no better TT? What have you done to it?
16 Oct, 2013
Erm,I don't think that would do us a lot of good Sue..would we have to carry the Masseur up as well ?? Lol.
have you got a good strong garden bench? we all know how to improvise :o)
17 Oct, 2013
wouldn't a masseur who does home visits have a folding bench as part of their kit, so to speak? or if not, might they be able to borrow one for the occasion?
my hypnotherapist has a folding bench, for people who can't relax properly in a chair; he can lift it with one hand, so it can't weight too much.
17 Oct, 2013
I don't think he does home visits actually Fran. It would really be a lot easier for us all to pop down the road! Plenty to massage on me so I can make up for you two skinny ones. I am due a visit actually as I was promised a session for my birthday! So let me know when you are coming...
17 Oct, 2013
Ok,Sue..anything for an easy life :o)..I'm alright going downhill..been doing it for a while .Lol
17 Oct, 2013
Very entertaining blog Terra ... aren't your helpers just priceless?!!! Hope the aches and pains have eased off ... :o)
19 Oct, 2013
Me too Sandra, and seem to be accelerating!
19 Oct, 2013
Thanks Shirley ..
Aches and pains still not good ...
... but my helpers are a blessing ! :o)
20 Oct, 2013
:o)
20 Oct, 2013
Hope your shoulder soon improves TT. Your gravel garden is very pretty. The team look so spruce and elegant and very helpful too. Try an osteopath, perhaps. In my case for a sore elbow....expensive but effective.
21 Oct, 2013
Hi Dorjac ..
I'm glad you like my blog and garden ..
Unfortunately, my shoulder is still causing trouble ...
Thanks for your advice.
21 Oct, 2013
That was brilliant fun! Thank you :)
22 Oct, 2013
Hi Kimberly .. Thanks ...

it was fun making it :o)))

Those are amazing photos. I can't believe you can get Conker and Truffle to pose for their photo-shoots so well.
With my dog, Puccini -- it would be impossible! :>)
