What a good way to while away the cold winter days, it must have taken ages. I'd no idea that there are so many different wellies. What will you think of next?
10 Feb, 2010
Thanks, Sue. xxx

It's so nice to look back at how the training has progressed , I must say they are all looking very fit and i'm sure they will do us proud and give it 100% .
I have heard that the flowerpot people are not to happy in the snow , they crack up easily , It might be a point in our favour .. fingers crossed .. :o)
10 Feb, 2010
I think that there should be a new category on Goypedia -cheering-up-ideas-, obviously this one but Piersdad and his mechanical pets is another, that way we wouldn't lose them but could have a browse when we need it :?)
10 Feb, 2010
Good point about the Flower Pot People, Amy...
....cracking up in the sub-zero temperatures...
....hat could improve our medal total..;o)
10 Feb, 2010
That's an interesting GoYpedia idea, Pam... :o)

In case anyone was wondering about Bruno and Barney, they won't be going to the Winter Olympics because bears hibernate in the winter
10 Feb, 2010
Hello Lincslass..
"Men's Ski-Cross"...that really is a new event for the Winter Olympics...
Morgan and Brynner seem the obvious choice ;o)
I agree that the blog is just the start ...
.... everyone's comments are really funny...Lol.
Sandra.. In The Boot ....
Andrew would have been the one with the robin on his wellies..Lol.
Hi Andrew.....

10 Feb, 2010
Fantastic blog TT- i think it will cheer everybody up! love the commentry and the pics- well done yet again. I thought you would have put Conker the postman in and Truffle in that brilliant red hat! lol :~))
10 Feb, 2010
Hi Skillen... Thanks...
...when I write blogs I seem to come up with more and more ideas.. and the blog grows longer and longer, . so I often end up leaving out my own pics..Lol.
Conker is not yet quite fit enough for this Olympics... and Truffle is still too young to compete, but Truffle has his sights set on London 2012... his speciality could well be the pole vault.....or chasing the discus and not bringing it back..LOL.
10 Feb, 2010
Lol - Terra maybe Conker could have the job of handing out the medals and Truffle would be pretty good at sniffing out the flower pot people!
10 Feb, 2010
Good idea, Skillen...
Conker would enjoy awarding the medals... and Truffle is ready to chase all frisky Flower Pot People... :o)
Good luck to Felix in the Bobsleigh. x
10 Feb, 2010
Felix says thanks he's been practicing and is quite confident he will win- I'm not so sure...... lol ! x
10 Feb, 2010
ps - he thinks if he wins he might have a chance of meeting up with the beautiful Blodyn!
10 Feb, 2010
I am going to shoot you down now Terra ----He's MAN not a person !! HE HE HE !
10 Feb, 2010
Hello again, Skilllen...
We have every confidence in Felix....
..he did so well in the recent time trials and his style is exemplary
... and if he chases Blodyn, he'll break all the speed records..Lol.. :o) x
Hi Skillen....
FPP, FPM, FPW......
.... if, for your birthday, you find an FPW concealed beneath some wrapping paper, your two FPP's might start breeding and you'll have little FP babies everywhere..he.he he... :o)
10 Feb, 2010
my chickens are realy trying hard to organise them selves...lol loving all the wellies...;-))
10 Feb, 2010
great blog,really interesting and funny,excellent.
10 Feb, 2010
Fabulous TT........you've done us proud again!! All raring to go for the Winter Olympics.....Lexies already booked her time off school.....:o)
Really fun....loved it!! XX
10 Feb, 2010
Wonderful Blog great variety for a Winter Olympics
10 Feb, 2010
Hahaha !! Great job TerraT!! Love the "disorganized" chickens in the snow! And Thecottagegardner's pup looks like a contender for the Gold, for sure! lol
11 Feb, 2010
Loved this TT . My Megan was thrilled to see that she was part of it.
11 Feb, 2010
Thanks Sandra, Suey, Janey, Sixpence and Charlie...
Those chickens really MUST get organised...:o)
Looks like Lexie could miss a few school lessons...what a cutie she is !
Yes, Thecottagegardner's Holly certainly is good at those "aerials"...Lol.
11 Feb, 2010
Hello Helen..
Megan's photo is fantastic...
I could imagine your having that pic in a frame on the wall..:o)
11 Feb, 2010
Another brilliant blog Terratoonie you are very clever,it is great to see all the pets are there some great photos of them.Plus all the bonny wellies, it is so good I dont even mind all the s - - w because after all it is the Winter Olympics!
11 Feb, 2010
Thanks, Mavis...
Odd thing about the snow, is that on TV this morning, they were reporting from the Winter Olympics that lots of snow is having to be brought in by truck to some areas because it is too mild there... not enough snow for the winter sports !
11 Feb, 2010
Hmmm - do you think London will be bidding for a Winter Olympics soon?
11 Feb, 2010
probably Andrew we had a covering again yesterday and I understand that the south east have had it back again! still it gives us some more snow for 'training purposes' :0))
11 Feb, 2010
Hi Andrew...
This winter, with so much snow, Britain could have hosted the Winter Olympics quite easily..Lol... Bernie and Bruno ice-skating on your raised pond... :o)
Lol. Pam... good luck with that last-minute training...;o)
11 Feb, 2010
P S i'm backing Lexxie for the " prettiest snow dog " competition!
11 Feb, 2010
Lexxie is sooooooooooo cute :o)
11 Feb, 2010
Thanks for all your hard work in assembling this, brightened up my morning!
11 Feb, 2010
Hi Gillian..
Glad you enjoyed this...
My thanks to Tori for her super photos :o)
11 Feb, 2010
Extra practice going on in this corner of Kent this morning. Lots of snow so when we get to the Olympics we will be very much at home (if they get some more snow!). When will our tickets be arriving? :)
11 Feb, 2010
Hello Gee...
There's been a change of plan....
Due to shortages of snow in the Vancouver region, some of the Winter Olympic events are being held in your back garden...
If you get everyone involved.. Chloe, Stig, Poppy and the tortoises....will you be able host an alternative Winter Games ?
May I suggest your wellie-shaped biscuits as refreshments..? ;o)
11 Feb, 2010
Well done Terra, another brilliant blog to keep our spirits up in this cold weather.....which I hope doesn't go on for too long or you'll be exhausted by the time spring does eventually come!! Our wellies will all be worn out too.
By the way I'm a little concerned that Terry60 shaves his legs and wears red polish on his toe nails......LOL!
11 Feb, 2010
Hello Lily...
Yes, Terry60 is full of surprises ;o)
No, we wouldn't want your wellies full of snow all summer.... !
I'm hoping that once the Winter Olympics are completed, we'll all be warmer and ready to get into our gardening...
11 Feb, 2010
Loved it TT :o)) :o))
11 Feb, 2010
Thanks Pam. :o)))
11 Feb, 2010
well done, terratoonie lot of work went into that blog, myself and lucy loved it ,ps so does lucky
11 Feb, 2010
Done it again Tt, there's a big smile or possibly silly grin on my face too:-) So thrilled to be taking part and I'm taking my training very seriously, don't worry, I won't let the side down. It's do or die as far as I'm concerned:-}
11 Feb, 2010
Thanks, Joebell
Gold medal for Lucky ! :o)
Hi Bornagain...
You do your training with such enthusiasm ! I'm sure you'll be giving a perfect performance in those wellies. Lol.
11 Feb, 2010
Oh great blog Tt well done!!! I really enjoyed that was so funny Lol :~))))
11 Feb, 2010
Hello Mobee...
Very pleased you enjoyed this...
...good to have a giggle to get us through this winter weather :o)
11 Feb, 2010
No problem, TT, but all wellies must be taken off at the front door and then replaced before going into the garden. At the moment my side gate is inaccessible because of a snow drift. We might also have to have another event - who can sink furthest into my boggy garden - loser has to leave their wellies behind :)
11 Feb, 2010
Terra, don't you think we need to enlist cheer leaders or a barmy army? After all we don't want to be at a disadvantage and who knows what the f** are planning. I'm sure you will find many volunteers in the ranks of Goy....It makes you proud to be GOYISH doesn't it...gulp...no, I'm all right, it's just something in my eye. :-)
12 Feb, 2010
TT - brilliant blog as usual - I chuckled all the way down - xxxxx
Just to prove I mean business re training - we had a snow storm this morning to get us into the Canadian spirit - quite a feat in Rome since the last sprinkling of snow was in 1986 !!
Another eeensy teeensy weensy problem - for whom do I don my flowery flip flops ??
Will it be like when hubby and son make me sit through Italy vs England/Wales/Scotland world cup matches ?? I end up cheering whoever happens to be playing !! The crunch really came yonks ago in the finals ....
12 Feb, 2010
I have internet problems today.... I blame those Flower Pot People... trying to sabotage our last minute Wellie Olympic plans....:o(
Hi Gee... Your wellie requirements seem more than reasonable...
The boggy garden event leads me to ask if you are trying to monopolise GoYpedia Flood Damage for just your own pics ? ;o)
Bornagain... Great idea about the cheer-leading... as you can see from my delayed appearance on GoY today, the FPP tried to take over my laptop...
Please amass a team of cheer-leaders... you might get inspiration from watching a few TV episodes of "Popstar to Opera Star"... on that show..they sing a lot... and sob a lot ...
Thanks, Terry60....
Your picture really says it all..... red, white and blue....
Team GB.... and clever of you to arrange for the snow to fall over Rome... to perfect your final flip-flop training..
Well done :o)
12 Feb, 2010
Terra I've never seen Popstar to Operastar except on Harry Hills TV Burps and now I wish I'd watched it. Don't know if I'd care for the sobbing though...Goyish stiff upper lip and all that :-[}
12 Feb, 2010
Hi Bornagain...
Popstar to Operastar is on TV again this evening, and repeated tomorrow morning... if you think you could cope with the arias and the emotions.. ;o)
12 Feb, 2010
Goodness TT so many photos to comment on I don't know where to start. Brilliant blog and photos as always. If I was ever going to wear wellies, the pink ones with the flowers on would be my first choice. The flower pot people look like formidable opposition, and those chicken need taking under control.
12 Feb, 2010
Hello DoctorBob..
You in pink wellies ....
... now that would be something special...Lol.
We are having trouble organising the chickens...
.. we think the Flower Pot People might be trying to get the chickens into their own team... Flower Pot Poultry .... :o)
12 Feb, 2010
I see there is a lack of snow in Vancouver, perhaps we can send some over.
12 Feb, 2010
Yes..Vancouver needs snow !
Gee19 was ready to send a whole lot of snow. She is struggling to keep the Wellie Olympic flame alight in her garden.... have you seen her recent photo ? :o)
12 Feb, 2010
TT brilliant funny blog fabulous photos so many lovely pets Lexxie was proud to be chosen and had a haircut specially to go faster! love it you're patience in compiling your blogs is rivalled only by your sense of humour super thankyou for the miles of smiles!!
12 Feb, 2010
Fantastic blog Terra, cheered me up after a long week.
13 Feb, 2010
Hi Rbtkew ...
..... have a relaxing weekend...
I'm pleased you enjoyed this blog.
Thanks, Neellan..
I'm impressed to hear that Lexxie has had a haircut to increase her speed ...
... very brave of her in this chilly weather..Lol...
I'm lucky in that everyone so kindly allows me to include their photos ... :o)
13 Feb, 2010
Love the blog TT - great selection of pics. Holly has been training really hard & even though the river still has ice in it, she was out swimming with her brother Buddy this morning to build up her stamina for the big event. Still practicing those aerial moves to achieve the perfect score for the team. Good luck to all competitors & a big hellow to Lucky & Lexxie - you are just gorgeous !
13 Feb, 2010
Hi cottageg...
Good to learn about Holly's last-minute training, with Buddy for support...
...We're hoping Buddy is getting ready for London 2012....
Holly's aerial moves are spectacular ..... definitely something to daunt those Flower Pot People....she is one of our very best hopes for a gold medal...!!!
..and... yes... Lucky and Lexxie are stunners, aren't they ! :o)
13 Feb, 2010
Well yet again TT you have come up with a brilliant blog and photos, it amaizes me how you think up all these blogs, every one you do is a cracker :o)))
13 Feb, 2010
Thanks, Clarice...
The members' photos give me lots of inspiration, and I'm lucky everyone agrees to my including their pics...
I hope Smokey is feeling okay this weekend.. xxx
13 Feb, 2010
He's not been to bad this last couple of days. Thanks for asking xx
13 Feb, 2010
That's good to know, Clarice...
I'll be thinking of him at his appointment next week.xx
13 Feb, 2010
Thanks TT xx
13 Feb, 2010
Thanks for a great blog TT,
I have had some internet problems recently, hopefully Rachel has sorted me out!
Glad to see the Welsh wellies made it! :))
13 Feb, 2010
Thanks, Rachelsmum...
Well done Rachel on fixing things ...
I've also had internet trouble in recent days ....
... it is so frustrating isn't it !
Your Welsh wellies look like gold medal winners to me...
Lovely to have you back on GoY. :o) x
13 Feb, 2010
Lexxie says thanks for the nice comments to Pamg Thecottageg and TT :O)) x
13 Feb, 2010
Yet again, a fabulous blog. What about events for the summer olympics - I could manage pruning javelin ...........
13 Feb, 2010
I'm training TT, everso everso hard, in fact I'm quite breathless with exasperation !!!!
I've just had a vigorous battle with the double duvet cover - do you any of you lovely people out there have a miraculous way of filling these flippin' things without losing the will to live????
I've tried rolling the duvet up like a sausage and then trying to unroll into the cover -. I've tried prising and pushing it into the cover like you do with a pillow case - not easy with yards of arm breadth missing - I've tried doing the corner to corner technique and then found I've been battling with the wrong corners!!! Help !!!
14 Feb, 2010
Nice to hear from Lexxie....good that she found time between her busy schedule of Olympic events to speak to us...Lol.
Hi. Gardenmad1... Glad you enjoyed blog... My goodness, you are very keen.... we're in the midst of the Winter Wellie Olympics and you're already training for Summer events ... You'll definitely be in our team for your Pruning Javelin event... please keep us updated with your progress....:o)
Hi Terry60 ...
The dreaded duvet battle.... thanks for being so honest about your various challenges here... in fact this could be your sport for the 2012 GoY Wellie Olympics..... Summer Bedding Styles .... nice garden theme to that title...Lol...
..... I'm a "grab the corners" contestant myself....
14 Feb, 2010
Just marvellous TT ... I think I could do the luge run on my 'flip-flop' (just needs some runners underneath) or maybe a few of us could hope on and try our luck as a bobsledding team with our softer bobsled. Had a great chuckle at your blog ... great stuff!
14 Feb, 2010
Hi Bernieh...
I bet you could get up to some fast speeds on your flip-flop..Lol...and the soft bob sled...
Glad this gave you a chuckle... and thanks for helping to make our GoY team genuinely global. x
14 Feb, 2010
Hi Tt. Iβd be a good candidate for the soft bob team good low centre of gravity !
Terry60 ~ Personally I prefer the inside out technique
Step1. Place arms inside duvet taking a firm grip on top corners.
Step2. Now in one swift move turn inside out (donβt be disheartened this move comes with practice approximately 30 years)
Step3. Now repeat step 1.and 2. But take firm hold of the top corners of the duvet as well.
Step4. Place lower end corners 0f duvet into place and snap shut.
Step5.Fling on bed and walk away.
Step6. Fill kettle and make Tea or Coffee find chocolate biscuit and relax
Alternatively
Stuff duvet into cover and place a peg in each corner this holds duvet in place thus allowing duvet stuff~er to remain in control!
14 Feb, 2010
Hi Sue...
Joining Bernieh in soft bob team ! Great !
Looks like this could be one of our best events...
... Thank you. ;o)
I hadn't realised this duvet stuffing could be so involved... Maybe everyone should attend several courses to learn how to do it efficiently and with panache... or perhaps you could write your own blog with photos to illustrate...?
... special pics of the duvet cover and chocolate biscuits please.. Lol. xxx
14 Feb, 2010
Oh heck Sue - I'm more disheartened than ever now!!
Like TT says, some idiot proof pics would help immensely ...I can just about cope with the single versions - it's the nerve-wrestling double ones that send me into a twist ..
Mind you, the best bit of the whole exercise is the cup of tea with a chocolate digestive .... !!!!
14 Feb, 2010
Well what can I sayβ¦. you make me blush with embarrassment. I didnβt realise my duvet tango would be of such interest I will see if I can put together visual instructions ASAP!
14 Feb, 2010
Bluethumbs2 has just put a pic on GoY of snowy duvets for plants... seems to be the theme of the day....

Looking forward to your instruction blog Sue..with pics.. Lol.

Now, I don't know about that Bernieh and Sueb! Felix is quite miffed that he has got a bit of competition - he has decided to go out and practice even harder - fleeing up the garden and firing himself up and down the trees in the woods at the back. He thinks he's at a disadvantage 'cos there's no snow at the moment. I told him not to worry as Bernieh wouldn't have any snow - EVER -and she would probably fall of her flip-flop at the first obstacle! That seemed to passify him for the time being and he's now decided to go for a sleep!
14 Feb, 2010
Och TT just missed Fourseasons garden and now I'm miffed!
14 Feb, 2010
Lol ... so true Skillen ... but have you heard the story about the Jamaican bobsled team? No snow either ... I think I'm in with a chance here!
14 Feb, 2010
Whatever the weather we're in with lots of medal opportunities... Bernieh sliding down the sand-dunes, and Felix busy with altitude training by sprinting up the trees. :o)
Sorry you missed the Fourseasonsgarden show, Skillen....
... If I hear of any repeats, I'll let you know..
The programme was very interesting... showing, as you would expect, the work undertaken each season, to keep the garden looking good...
14 Feb, 2010
Aye Bernieh - but they didn't win did they! We'll be getting some more snow here next week, so Felix will be getting a lot more practice in then. As I am a connossieur (spelt wrong hehe) of flip flops I will be choosing a slick hi-speed model for him to use. Still confident? lol x2.
14 Feb, 2010
Thanks TT, I would have really liked to have seen it.
14 Feb, 2010
Have you seen the size of the flip-flops downunder, Skillen? We make 'em big! I'll be done that tube in no time ... and if there's a bottle of scotch (whisky) waiting at the bottom, well you'll see me and my flip-flop flying! Felix hasn't got a hope!
14 Feb, 2010
Have you got a class for yorkie throwing TT.... as Ella is nearly 14 she cant get on the chairs anymore and i spend all day lobbing her onto the settee or her favourite chair.... lol..... Ella and i have been practising a lot today..... shes getting her landing very good... : O )))
14 Feb, 2010
LOL Bernieh, I must admit I DO like your flip-flops and they would be at the top of my must have list, but I have told Felix what you say and it's just made him even more determined to win. I will be putting a cooked chicken at the bottom, so we will just have to wait and see.........
14 Feb, 2010
This team rivalry is very healthy.....
we still have lots of events in the Winter Wellie Olympics, and then London 2012 will be in our sights...
Congratulations to Ella on her landings... so useful for a great variety of sports... trampolining, artistic skiiing....
Seems like those flip-flops are so huge, they could be used as snow-shoes... or for white water rafting...
Please keep up the training in all weathers.... food and drink incentives are not only permitted, but are actively encouraged.. :o)
14 Feb, 2010
Right ... it's on! Training begins tomorrow.
14 Feb, 2010
Lol. :o)
14 Feb, 2010
I'm glad everyone in steping up their preparations.
Did you realise now the snow has disappeared, that Blodyn is making a round trip of 50 miles a day to train on a skee slope. ? It should get some of the fat off her lol.
I hope that chap in sandals doesn't suffer from chilblains :((
14 Feb, 2010
Hello Hywel...
Those sandals are soooo stylish....
could become standard kit for the Summer 2012 Olympics !
Wow, Blodyn is very dedicated, isn't she !
I hope you are increasing her calorie intake to match this extra exercise ;o)
14 Feb, 2010
Good luck to Blodyn for the cross country skiing Hywel and may she keep up the practice!
Bernieh - I would stick to the sand-dunes if I were you, four legs are easier to balance on a flip-flop than two! :~)))))))).
14 Feb, 2010
Blodyn is too fat so she isn't having any more rations lol.
Actually she has become very greedy lately. maybe it's the cold.
14 Feb, 2010
i think your right hywel, my brothers cat has piled the weight on this winter to, once they are out and about in summer may loose a bit :o))
14 Feb, 2010
I hope so.
14 Feb, 2010
I'm enjoying this 4 way conversation which has developed.... Australia, Scotland, Wales and England.... proving that the Wellie Olympics team is made of members from all around the world..Lol.
14 Feb, 2010
lol Terra :o)
14 Feb, 2010
Of course, some may say that Blackpool is a country all of its own..LOL.
14 Feb, 2010
oh most deffernatly Terra, im sure there isnt another like blackpool lol
14 Feb, 2010
okay, then, Sandra... that's a 5 country conversation ;o)
14 Feb, 2010
Done ! :o)
14 Feb, 2010
hahaha nice one ;o))
14 Feb, 2010
Great to see everyone taking their training so seriously Tt, but I'm a bit confused. Is duvet covering a legitimate part of this years winter Olympics, or do we have to wait for London?? We've recently bought a kingsize bed so I think I should be in a different league from Terry who, by her own admission, is not really competent at the doubles yet and I don't think she will be ready for London even if she starts practising on kingsize now. :-)))
14 Feb, 2010
Yes TT we need input from Irish as well don't we? Terry60 will really have to practice the cornering technique or she won't even get into the first round ! Sueb has obviously got it down to a tee and I reckon she'll win hands (and thumbs) down! Meanwhile as Bernieh has been sooooo quiet for an hour or so, I think she has realised that it's no contest against Felix. Bornagain, I think you have every chance to catch up with Sueb, but not with a kingsize!
14 Feb, 2010
Lol. Skillen...
I reckon Bernieh is sleeping under a very tidy light-weight duvet......
Can't wait for Sue's duvet blog...:o)
14 Feb, 2010
Hi Bornagain...
The duvet sports are scheduled for London 2012...
Could be every duvet cover will be as the flag of that country...
.... to make a spectacular opening ceremony display...:o)
14 Feb, 2010
Brilliant idea! Forgot, you're right, Bernieh will be well tucked up. Clarice says the four seasons garden is on next Sunday too. :~))
14 Feb, 2010
its on bbc catch up to skillen ;o)
14 Feb, 2010
Is that on the computer San?
14 Feb, 2010
yes skillen then look under G for gardeners world and you will scroll down and see it there
14 Feb, 2010
Thanks San I'll do that :~))
14 Feb, 2010

14 Feb, 2010
This is the cutest blog! Hope Canada gets its frist gold medal soon for this Olympics!
14 Feb, 2010
Hi Raquel..
Thanks. Yes, it would be lovely if Canada could get an Olympic gold on home ground :o)
14 Feb, 2010
Four Seasons is also on i player, I watched it tonight:-) If only you could recruit them for the Goy Olympics Tt, there would be no contest, they never rest:-)
14 Feb, 2010
Sorry TT had to drop out of the conversation yesterday. Had to dash off to the smallest room where I spent the afternoon talking to him upstairs on the big white phone:0(
Sorry Skillen My duvet is Queen Size. Your going to have put in a lot of training! Should have blog ready in a day or so.
Bernieh ~ I put in an hours practice for Soft Bob this morning I sat in the empty bath and did lean to the left lean to the right and pass the wine bottle back (it was a full unopened one was worried about spillage) I will try with on open at this evenings practice session.
15 Feb, 2010
Hi Sue...
Sounds like you are working your way back to tip top fitness...looking forward to your blog... and we'll try to spot the wine bottles in the photos.Lol.
15 Feb, 2010
this duvet competition should have a 'pairs class' for the larger duvet and points for style-- been watching the moguls and they get points for style and jumps--- at least we'd get a soft landing :0)
15 Feb, 2010
Oooohhhh - I don't like this feeling of defeat but all this talk of queen and king size!!!!! It was bad enough with doubles..... Hey, don't I get poetic's licence 'cos of lack of practice, as it hardly ever gets that cold here (heheheheh) to use those mind boggling contraptions -
Mind you, watch out tho', as once I see Sue's blog of how to do it properrrrrly - there'll be no stopping my progress and prowess ...... now, as for stacks of wine bottles, I quite modestly reckon I'm leagues ahead of everybody
15 Feb, 2010
I hate to say this, but quite frankly I'm noticing a little oneupmanship creeping in here....and in our own team members!....Come on chaps Goyish spirit and all that.....don't forget who the enemy erm competition is... the fiendish FPP. I bet they're laughing up their sleeves and it wouldn't surprize me if we had a double (or even a kingsize) agent formenting all this internal competition. Three cheers for the multicoloured (green background) Goy Flag...hip pip...
15 Feb, 2010
I'm wondering whether the Flower Pot People are practising with their own duvets in the Flower Beds..? Their secret weapon could be the Weed Suppressing Membranes...
15 Feb, 2010
Wow, this blog has proved popular TT - well done - a real community spirited blog. How on earth are you going to top this? What's the lowdown on how the team's doing - any medals / podium finishes? you'll have to give us the rundown of the results. Hope we're ahead of those FPP's?
15 Feb, 2010
Hi cottageg...
The FPP were doing well in the speed skating, but were then disqualified from that event, for dropping compost on the ice and slowing up our team members...
... we are doing well on the medals table.... and some GoY members are so inspired, they're already planning their events and training for 2012... :o)
15 Feb, 2010
Tt, I think you're on to something, we really must pull our fingers out. Tcg, I take it from what you say that you are not a team member?? perhaps you could join the cheer leading?? You could play a very important role in our triumph. Do you have a ra ra skirt preferably made from bamboo or grass? or anything you could use to wave about ? :-)
15 Feb, 2010
Cottageg has been training Holly for the free-style skiing Ladies' Aerials... Holly is one of our many hopefuls for a podium position...:o)
WINTER WELLIE OLYMPICS LATEST ...
A member of the Flower Pot People team has been disqualified for taking a banned substance....traces of Baby Bio were found in his terra cotta body parts........
15 Feb, 2010
Just shows they can't be trusted Tt. I'm sure Cottageg is working hard as Holly's personal trainer, but I think you will agree that Holly is the one doing the main of the work and I'm finding it hard signing up cheer leaders and my arms are sooo tired from duvet practise (kingsize):-( Pamg, I like your idea of a pairs classvery much, it would be make the sport a little less dangerous. A few years ago, a friend of mine climbed in, just to position the corners, her body was never found. I don't think people appreciate the sacrifices we make:-(
15 Feb, 2010
Yes. Pam suggested points for Style with the duvet, as well as points for Jumps, Landings and other moves....
...one of her best ideas this year, I think you will agree....
... we could well need to refer to her for more technical advice as the Games progress.... :o)
15 Feb, 2010
We've crossed in the ether Tt. After a great deal of thought, I would like to put Pamg's name forward for some sort of recognition, a title perhaps??
15 Feb, 2010
Cracking blog, really had a good laugh, keep them coming TT.
15 Feb, 2010
Thanks, Dotty....
I'm pleased you enjoyed this... :o)
15 Feb, 2010
Still no word from Bernieh? hmmmmmmm........................
15 Feb, 2010
Shh! Sheβs still sleeping sheβs had a hard weekend what with fretting about school and Down Dune Flip-Flop and Soft Bob training.
15 Feb, 2010
Great blog! Too much time on your hands! Chomping at the bit now for spring....
15 Feb, 2010
Hi Mike... Thanks..
I've written lots of blogs in the past few weeks...
..can't wait for warmer weather and spending more time in the garden :o)
Good evening Skillen and Sue... :o)
15 Feb, 2010
Evening TT,Conker, Truffle and Crocus hope you are all in good form :~))
Sueb - I'm not in the douvet contest as the other half that is my husband is much better at that than me, hence I have never got the hang of it! No - my part in all this is to make sure by hook or by crook that Felix wins the mens' bobsleigh competition. Now I remember that Bernieh did say she was starting her training today and I suspect that maybe she has fallen off her flip-flop OR got lost in the Great Barrier Reef! :~))))))))).
15 Feb, 2010
Do you think we should send out a search party? We could send a message via bush telegraph to Skippy (last seen eyeing up Bernieβs lawn).
15 Feb, 2010
lol Sueb..... nah, as I said - Felix will win the bobsleigh by hook or by crook.
Bernieh will probably have a compass in the sole of her flip-flop and find her way back.................eventually lol !
15 Feb, 2010
I'm sure with all his training Felix will be sure to bring home a gold medal. The Goy cheer leading squad will be sure to add extra encouragement I thought I heard Born-again singing "Give us an F Give us an E give us an L"
I'm just a bit concerned now that Bernie may have fallen off her Flip-Flop hit her head on a big shell and gone walkabout. Are you sure about the compass. Did she have a skid lid on?
15 Feb, 2010
Yes Sueb I think Felix has every chance (now that B has gone AWOL). It's nice to know that the GOY cheerleaders are behind him.
As for B - I overheard a conversation between Uma and Linclass discussing her winterpot man and her 'ladies'. I can only assume that they have sneaked across to the other side of the world to sabotage Bernieh's efforts and shatter her dreams! Lets hope indeed, that she has her skid lid on! As for the compass, I used to have a pair of school shoes with a compass in the heel, so here's hoping.
15 Feb, 2010
PS. All the best with the douvet throwing! :~)).
15 Feb, 2010
Fantastic blog, TT!!! Very interesting and funny one!
Think, GoY has already have its own GOLD-medalist in Super Blog-writing...it's YOU, TT! Congratulations! :)
15 Feb, 2010
Good b
15 Feb, 2010
Good blog, and I smiled a lot about the duvet-covering antics. Suddenly sheets and blankets and those "hospital corners" my Mum showed me seem like a better idea....
My top tip for duvets ( to think that in the UK we used to call them "continental quilts" - or was that only my strange family?!) - get someone else to do it, lol!
For the German/French/Belgian etc teams, there's the added challenge of flopping the whole duvet out over the windowsill every morning for the traditional airing! We Brits are not that thorough. : ))
15 Feb, 2010
Hospital corners - mmmm now you're talking - I'm afraid none of you stand a chance as I quite modestly win hands down - I am altogether quite superlative at those, on account of all that heavy training from my sister - she's a nurse of the old school, as of the Emergency Ward 10 ilk
..... Buuuut as for those flippin duvets - continental quilts they may be, but this poor soul on the "continent" (i.e. moi) risks having serious migraines each and every time ....
By the way Bornagain - did your friend ever emerge from that corner ?? She's probably hibernating in the warmth of the feathers and will come to life next Spring !!
16 Feb, 2010
Wow, Terry60...
...these world-wide duvet discussions are becoming mind-blowing !
Crocus the budgie is having a very heavy moult and offers his fallen feathers as extra duvet filling....
Thanks Weeding and Uma ...
..... and a special award to Uma for noticing that devious Snow Pot Person lurking in her garden.... Lol. :o)

16 Feb, 2010
Terry, I'm afraid after 6 months ...police....dogs...psychics etc, the search was finally called off. What??? Oh the duvet?? Her husband had it framed and mounted as a memorial to his brave but foolhardy love. Every year on the anniversary of her disappearance, all her friends and team mates gather round the duvet and we drink a toast to our absent friend:-(
16 Feb, 2010
Oh dear Bornagain, a bit tragic aint it?? I think I'll resort back to my faithful cotton sheets and woolly blankets before the same happens to moi ....
16 Feb, 2010
Probably safest T, do you really need woolly blankets? What's the point of the cats lol:-)
16 Feb, 2010
I have them as well - AND they DON'T budge an inch either once they've made themselves comfy ... !!
16 Feb, 2010
after many years practice and giving training classes I would be delighted to be Honorary Coach for the Goy Duvets (specialising in the belly flop :-)
16 Feb, 2010
I had a friend once Bornagain who went to be a Homepride flowergrader(remember them?) well she went into a bag of 'self raising' and was never seen again.......
16 Feb, 2010
Come on clever clogs - how do YOU fill the flippin' duvet covers then Pam and stay sane at the end of the ordeal ???????
16 Feb, 2010
I hear there's a duvet blog in the pipeline from Sueb....
... so please keep a look-out for that one....
...should be good ! :o)
16 Feb, 2010
work in pairs Terry :0) ( maybe its that I can talk the talk but can I walk the walk?
16 Feb, 2010
Pamg, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, but it's some consolation to think that it's all in the line of duty. I'm sure Capt Granville would be very glad of your help with coaching and perhaps you could have a title too General Pam??? Sounds good to me. Should we put it to the vote Terra?? or could you as our Great Leader put it through on the nod??:-)
16 Feb, 2010
Work in pairs Pamq??? It's bad enough when there's one of us in a flap but two of us - it doesn't bear thinking about, especially when one goes missing....
I surrender and await Sueb's duvet blog with trepidation ...
16 Feb, 2010
well you see Terry you've heard of the sock pixie --you know-- the one who steals odd socks-- Well the lesser known duvet pixie is 2nd cousin to the flowerpot man and we All Know about them....
16 Feb, 2010

16 Feb, 2010

...yes, very scary.....every time I tried to use the keyboard, the FPP made me type different words...
more snow...? my garden has had lots of rain today...
16 Feb, 2010
thats what the bbc weatherman said-- showed a line from about bristol across to above kings lynn -- we'll soon have had as much as vancouver! Lol
16 Feb, 2010
Terratoonie, you must thank Crocus for donating his spare feathers to the douvet throwers, that was very noble of him and along with Sueb's tutorial I'm sure our members will win hands down. Do not worry Terry60 you will soon get the 'hang of it'. The scores are looking really good so far- very encouraging.
TT, I hope you have evicted ALL the FPP's from your premises, I thought Truffle was supposed to be in charge of that?
16 Feb, 2010
Hi Skillen...
Crocus is still moulting feathers...
He is very dedicated to the duvet cause...
...Green and Gold feathers because of his antipodean ancestry...
He secretly supports Bernieh and the Australians...Lol.
I hope tomorrow to add another comment with a bulletin of the Latest Wellie Olympics News...
...if we can keep those FPP's under control....
Truffle will do his best to be on the alert....:o)
16 Feb, 2010
Oh NOooooooooooo! I'm shocked and horrified!!!!!!! Not Crocus too! His cage has obviously been taken over by microscopic FPP's (probably hiding in his millet) as we speak. First you TT and now Crocus - I can't believe he's supporting Bernieh and the Austrialians secretly or otherwise! You'll need to get Conker on the case as Truffle is just NOT doing the job properly!!!!! :~(((((
16 Feb, 2010
I'll take all the support I can ... thanks Crocus! Too much disrespect shown in above comments! Here am I ... bibbing and bobbing and flipping and flopping ... wearing out my little soft bob with all the practice after work ... I haven't got the time to be GOYing! Too busy soft bobbing on the those whacking great gargantuan .... yet surprisingly comfy ... flip flops!
17 Feb, 2010
TT - is the team entered in the caber tossing this year. Our pic (no 216) picked up by BA shows some great training resources for any budding candidates. Have suggested that Buddy starts training but don't know if he's too late for this years event. Perhaps he'll be ready for 2010 of the Scottish Heelin' Games ?
17 Feb, 2010
A bit late catching up here.... I had my poet's hat on this morning...I was so busy writing a blog, I forgot to put out my wheelie bin for trash collection ... never mind ! Lol.
I must report that Crocus is still moulting in green and gold and cheering loudly every time an Australian does well in the Winter Olympics... at least he isn't cheering for the FPP..... I checked his millet pack and it says "Bob Martin"..is that an alias for a Flower Pot Person Bob sleigh competitor ???
Bernieh's flip flops are going to be great for London 2012 ....surfing down the Thames... could be another gold for our global team :o)
Cottageg.... I found your photo, thank you. Secret training location for your caber training methinks..... Keep up the good work.... we'll need Buddy and team for the summer Olympics. !
17 Feb, 2010
Buddy is excited at the news & can't wait to get into training TT. He's been trying to shed a few of those winter pounds over the last month so this will give him a target to set his sight on. Doggy Power !
17 Feb, 2010

21 Feb, 2010
You've certainly disproved the old saying, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" TT in my case. Off out now into the pouring rain AGAIN.
22 Feb, 2010
Same as Neellan.... snow here all weekend !
Great for my pets' Winter Olympics sports...Lol.
22 Feb, 2010

My poor finger was starting to show signs of Repetitive Strain Injury Lol...mmm,
a lot of people claim for that now don't they..NO,I'm not one of the compensation culture lot,but some of those FPP's don't look short of a bob or two:o))

Tests after their Olympic events showed a high amount of a

weed-killer in their terracotta.....they almost got away with it...
..but their protest was not upheld...

I don't usually follow sport, but I must admit this has got my blood racing! Who would have thought...more or less a walk over. Well done to all our brave athletes and not forgettiong their trainers. Give me a G..give me an O...give me a Y...Roll on london, we are ready, especially the Goy Duvet Team (King, Queen, Double, single, and Pairs) and our dedicated Coach Sueb:-))))
24 Feb, 2010
Wow, Bornagain...your enthusiasm is infectious...
I'll put on GoY a final medal count this weekend...
.. but luckily, it does look like the GoY Wellie Olympic Pets are well ahead...
I hope the FPP don't have any sneaky moves planned... :o(
24 Feb, 2010
I caught one flowerpot person smirking in the sunshine today despite their poor showing, have they no shame? Hooray for goyers a well earned lead for the Pets
25 Feb, 2010
I saw a FPP today, looking really tatty and old.....but I think it was a disguise, he was probably very alert and keeping an eye on things.....hoping I'd lead him to TT, but I fooled him and snuck away out of the back entrance...tee hee
25 Feb, 2010
Well done Pottygardener....
I had internet problems this morning, caused by the Flower Pot People, so I'm sure you're right... the FPP are still very alert...
Hi Neellan...
Yes, the GoY Olympic Pets are doing well... let's hope there's no last minute mischief by the Flower Pot People. ! :o)
25 Feb, 2010
Fingers crossed they love Wales so much they stay and keep out of mischief.......Olympic and Computer type mischief that is :o)
25 Feb, 2010
Sorry Terra, Morgan and Brynner have been training verrrrrrrrrry hard !!!!!!!!!!!, but with lack of snow and Brynners dislike of all flowerpot shapes, (male or female) it`s insubordination in the lincs team, NAUGHTY Brynner insists they`re in the tug of war team............
26 Feb, 2010
not long to go now but last minute training could be a little damp ( been raining since yesterday and looks to continue :-(
26 Feb, 2010
Hi Neellan...
It seems the FPP are world-wide....
we need to be ready to photograph them at every opportunity in lots of different counties ! :o(
Ahhh.... Lincslass...
I'd heard rumours that there was some rebellion going on up there with the Lincspets..
Truffle is also very keen on tug of war and is extremely strong !
Do you think that if Truffle and Byrnner train hard and team up, they would be an unbeatable duo for the 2012 London Olympics Tug of War event ?
Hi Pam.... My garden today is windy, as well as wet...
Yes, a lot of damp training lately... Wellies very necessary..:o)
26 Feb, 2010
Very! but the scottish team must be getting plenty of practice-- unless they can't find the course ! ( looks as if the're having a bad time ' north of the border')
26 Feb, 2010
Yes you're right Pamg, more snow this side of the border yesterday and today. Felix for one has been getting in some extra practice now that he's in the final of the bobsleigh event. I've been away for a week in York and thought that he might have been taking it easy in my absence, but he is still working VERY hard as is is very determined to win. Hopefully we'll find out tomorrow!
26 Feb, 2010
How is the snow situation today ... and the rain ?
Yes, we have high hopes of Felix being our winter athlete with the most medals... Well done to him on putting in so much extra training ! :o)
27 Feb, 2010
Oh Wow TT,what an honour!! Can't wait to tell him. He's still out there practicing. The snow has melted but there is a patch left down at the foot of the garden which he is using. Just looked out and - HE'S NOT THERE!- hope he's not slacking at this late stage in the games! No I don't think so he's probably taking a well earned break.......
27 Feb, 2010
Not to worry, Skillen, that Felix has disappeared temporarily...
just a routine test...
The committee is doing drug tests on athletes today....
...as you know, the Flower Pot People were strimmed of all their medals because an illegal substance... weedkiller... was found in their terracotta...
We've heard that Felix achieves his excellent performances on a diet of cat food and cream ? Is that right ? Does he have any secret diet ingredients ?
Yogurt ? Custard ? :o)
27 Feb, 2010
Ha ha TT, I know, they are sooooo devious those FPP,s bet that took the evil snigger off their terracotta faces!
As you can see from his pictures, Felix takes great pride in his physique and would NEVER ingest illegal substances. He does partake in the odd prawn or small bowl of grated cheese now and again but he is definately a catfood only cat and he only has cream at Christmas.
As you can imagine he is totally affronted at the thought of the committee thinking he could
possibly be a cheat and has gone off in the huff until 4pm as this is the time he comes in for his afternoon sleep. I did tell him that his attitude will only fuel suspicion and that it is a routine procedure for all athletes. By the way, is Bernieh still in the running for a medal or has she been beaten down by lack of support? Last I heard she only had 1 supporter which was Crocus he he he.
27 Feb, 2010
Hi Skillen...
Sounds like Felix is on the purrrrfect diet for a svelte, athletic pussycat....
Crocus says he is now supporting Bernieh for Summer..2012..
...surfing down the Thames on her Australian flip-flops :o)
27 Feb, 2010
The weather has stopped all training outside today in the Lincs arena, both boys are bored so have been practising indoors.
Morgan`s been reading the new events and thought it would help if he trained Brynner up for Tug of War, trouble is the equipment box was locked so being an adaptable fellow he substituted his bedding instead, training went very well Terra the FPP Team won`t stand a chance against our boy`s.
(Any chance of a new bed out of petty cash)
Water skiing practise is taking place at the Lincs training ground, all spectators will need wellies....
27 Feb, 2010
Hi Lincslass...
Good to hear the training is continuing indoors on this damp, cold weekend.... but perhaps not such wonderful news that the dog bedding became a last-minute substitute kit...
In future please ensure the equipment box is available at all times... as suggested in a private message, the inclusion of a Cuz is strongly recommended...
Putting Morgan and Brynner forward for the water ski team as well as the tug of war.... wellies at the ready...
