What a lovely blog TT :o))
Your gardens always look so nice and green.
I'll have to have another look tonight - I am seeing this in my conservatory with a coffee lol, and the screen is reflecting to much to see it properly.
Of course you kept the best photo till last :o) They both look great !

Mr Blackbird is also enjoying his visit to your garden, Conker and Truffle posing beautifully as usual, they look so good and well behaved.......

30 Mar, 2011

If I had very large gardens, it would be harder to keep the weeds in check ...

A robin has been visiting my back garden lately, but I've not yet managed to take his photo ...

Conker and Truffle love having their photos taken ... when they see me with the camera, they are very disappointed if they find I'm only photographing the plants .... Lol.

Your garden is looking so colourful TT, I love your Mothers old stone duck, it looks just right under the clematis [is this Amandi?] and that Chocolate Vine is stunning, also your collection of aubretia, such a lovely mixture of colours. But I have left the best until the end,
Your two very hansome and happy looking companions, a please give Truffle and Conker a big hug from me xxx

30 Mar, 2011

Yes, we have rain here too - at last! Great blog Terra, and lovely pics. The first is SO pretty . . . what have you got in there?! The white flower looks like one I have (could it be Arabis), and I'd love to know what your little bright pink one is, peeping through the blues and greens.

Gorgeous garden!

30 Mar, 2011

Your garden looks so nice - lovely pictures - and well designed plan of the whole areas

30 Mar, 2011

What a lovely Spring garden so full of lovely flower's but you left the best till last Conker and Truffle they look just as nice as your flower's :-)

30 Mar, 2011

Hi Sheila ..
You are correct with Arabis ...
... and the other is aubrieta ...
pinky-mauve colour ...
Thanks for your lovely comments :o)

Hello Paul ..
I made up the garden designs as I went along ... had no real plan... other than prioritising to have the necessary areas for my dogs ... dog-run and lawns ..

30 Mar, 2011

Hi Mavis ...
Thank you... These days, Conker and Truffle are so very keen to have their photos taken, that I don't get so many opportunities to take pics of the plants ! Lol. :o)

30 Mar, 2011

All looking very nice TT.... lovely pics...

30 Mar, 2011

Thanks Holly :o)))

30 Mar, 2011

That is all looking so so pretty TT. I have to say, your garden looks about a month ahead of mine...not really in terms of what is flowering so much, but in terms of how much colour and growth you have. I think it is probably about 2 weeks ahead in truth, as I have no flowers yet on my Akebia, but it is now leafy. I wish I had an evergreen clem like that, they are so pretty in the spring, but the wind here shreds the leaves and they look awful and tatty and just not nice. Yours is stunning!

30 Mar, 2011

lovely garden & plants TT,you must work hard at it to keep it so nice & soo much colour, all i have are yellow & red-pink... from daffs & primulas,i think i will be asking you for a few tips this year..two handsome characters there at the end ..:o)

30 Mar, 2011

Hi Karen ~
With the mild weather recently, I think I'm more ahead with garden work than in previous years ... The strong winds some weeks back didn't help my clematis, but it hung on in there...Lol.

Thanks Joanella ~
Truffle and Conker are very willing to give you garden tips on colour ... they are the experts... especially Truffle who knows which colour plants are the most comfortable to sit on.. Lol. ;o)

30 Mar, 2011

Hi TT - your garden looks wonderful as usual - have a happy time gardening.

30 Mar, 2011

Thanks Marie ...
... plants growing fast now ...
... gardens look different every day with more colour :o)

30 Mar, 2011

lol..:o)))

30 Mar, 2011

always enjoy the photos of your garden TT Is your aubretia in the front garden flowering yet? I remember a lovely photo of it overflowing onto the path :o))

30 Mar, 2011

Hi Helen ... Thanks ...
Aubrieta in the front is starting to come into flower ...
I'll try to take some pics in April :o)

30 Mar, 2011

its lovely Terra-- but I agree with Hywel -- you saved the best 'til last-- we had a lot of rain last evening-- but a really good downpour with no wind so after todays rain-- thats enough ... thankyou..
you work so hard its a pleasure to 'take a tour' love to your little helpers xxx

30 Mar, 2011

Hi Pam ...
What lovely comments... Thank you !
Conker and Truffle send you hugs and xxx

The gardens were crying out for rain... It seems another band of showers is coming across Britain tomorrow morning, followed by brighter weather :o)

30 Mar, 2011

Just as I thought - much better without the reflections :o)

31 Mar, 2011

Hello tettratoonie, what a joy your garden is, your picture with the clematis armandii over the arch is incredible and would grace the cover of any garden magazine. julien.

31 Mar, 2011

Hi Julien...
I'm pleased you visited my gardens :o)
... and thank you so much ..
...that is such a lovely compliment !

31 Mar, 2011

Hello TT, your garden is looking as cute as a cute thing ...yet again! So tidy and so full of colour, it's a credit to you, beautiful! I agree with Karensusan, I think we are about 2-3 weeks behind you! Climate wise that is! Your dogs are absolutely gorgeous! The way they both have the same 'we love you mum' expression... 1 Apr, 2011

Hi Red aly ... Thanks ...
My mother would have been pleased that I took the ancient duck from her garden and resurrected it in mine.. Lol.

Conker and Truffle send <hugs> :o)

1 Apr, 2011

Very nice :) Especially loving the puddleduck and the blackbird and the dogs :P Your garden is definitely looking lively, which is always such an enjoyment at this time of year!

1 Apr, 2011

Really good blog lovely photos. Thanks!

1 Apr, 2011

I love that muscari, TT...and the primroses...and of course the adorable Truffle and Conker! =)

2 Apr, 2011

Thank you Jennyfer, Helenium and Raquel ...

Breezy days in my gardens recently, but the blossom and flowers have thankfully all stayed in place and continued to bloom ...

... while Conker and Truffle ... and the ancient duck ... have kept their feet on the ground ... ;o)

2 Apr, 2011

Just had another look at the photos and the tree chamaecyparis 'Fleckellwood' is really unusual, but nice, I've never seen a tree like that before! Is it a slow grower?

2 Apr, 2011

Hi Helenium...
I bought the tree only last week. Yes, it is meant to be a slow-grower... I'll try to take a better photo some time...

The pic was taken late afternoon, and the flash made the pale variegated parts look dull, whereas in real life they are quite bright...

I'm pleased you like the blog :o)))

2 Apr, 2011

Your garden looks immaculate and very inviting. I am intrigued by the Chocolate Vine. Is it hardy, invasive, does it like clay?? Where can I obtain one? Thanks :)

2 Apr, 2011

Hi Pam...
Thanks .. :o)
The Chocolate Vine is aka Akebia quinata ...
I find it is hardy, can grow quite profusely but responds to a good haircut... Mine usually loses many of its leaves around January, but is very soon sprouting its new buds and leaves...

If you google Akebia quinata you can read more about soil types, availability etc.. I hope this helps :o)

2 Apr, 2011

Thanks Terra,
I will investigate!

2 Apr, 2011

Good luck :o)))

2 Apr, 2011

Thanks TT!

2 Apr, 2011

Helenium... I found the conifer in a small independent garden sales place ... There was only the one tree in the whole store ... "Fleckellwood" standing on its own in a pot ... surrounded by small alpines ... I couldn't resist it.. Lol. :o)))

2 Apr, 2011

Hi Terra, how pretty your garden is. So much colour and greenery, I'm a big fan of evergreen plants. :o) Your raised bed is lovely and what a wonderful backdrop it has in the pink blossom of the tree which I presume belongs to your neighbour :o)
How lovely to see Conker enjoying such continued good health :o))

2 Apr, 2011

Hello Lily.. thanks...
Agree that incorporating evergreens is always useful ...

Some years ago, I built that raised bed from recycled brick sections ... a little at a time throughout one summer .. Those brick sections are heavy ! But I'm glad I made it...

Yes, the pink blossom belongs to a neighbour behind my back garden .. There's a collared dove nesting in that tree :o)

Conker is looking well thanks, and is such good mates with Truffle ... lots of rope toy games..Lol.

2 Apr, 2011

What a lovely blog TT, I thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with you. Your garden is out of this world, always looks so neat and tidy and such a lovely selection of so many different plants. I notice you have some white muscari, I cant seem to find this anywhere, I've tried everywhere and can only seem to find the blue one. I love your duck , he's lovely, and what a lovely memory of your mum.

2 Apr, 2011

Thank you Lin ~
I'll look out the details of my muscari purchase and send you a p.message...
I can remember my mother with that duck, looking for the best place for it to fit in her garden. Lol..

3 Apr, 2011

only just found this! your garden is looking beautiful TT ~ i wish i could put plants together as well as you do.

have you ever thought of running a course on how to put the right things together to make a colourful, textural, interesting and lovey garden?

i would love a chocolate vine ~ i shall look it up ~ im hoping it will grow truffles ~ chocolate or dog type will be acceptable!!

3 Apr, 2011

Hi Sticki ~
... thank you ... :o)

With my garden design, I go by instinct, and make it up as I go along, so I'm not sufficiently structured in my ideas to pass them on to others ! Lol.

Yes, chocolate vine is lovely... I reckon you'd like growing it ...

... not sure about the Chocolate Truffles ...
... but there's a Heuchera called Chocolate Ruffles ;o)

3 Apr, 2011

Lovely blog as always TT, i too love the chocolate vine is it hardy this far north do you know? going to look it up!!! :o)
Rocky says woof to Conker and Truffles and Toffee says hissssssssssssss....doesn't like dogs lol

3 Apr, 2011

Thank you Skilla ...
I'm pleased you like the blog ...

Chocolate vine is H4 ~ Hardy to -5 to -10oC (23 to 14oF)
but unless you plant it somewhere very warm and sheltered, I think you would expect it to be semi-evergreen, rather than evergreen...

Conker and Truffle say woof to Rocky :o)

3 Apr, 2011

Oooh, I'm glad I didn't miss your post, TT. It was a fabulous tour. So many beautiful plants, but that Chocolate Vine is my favourite. Your garden is looking absolutely gorgeous already ... roll on the rest of the year!

Absolutely beautiful Terratoonie:)))))))))))))))

5 Apr, 2011

Thanks, Michaella...

I've just peeped at my front garden ...
... the rain has made everything grow about a foot taller
... Has the same thing happened to your garden ? Lol.

5 Apr, 2011

How come you two got some rain? I'm not that far away and my garden is bone dry, one quick shower on Sunday evening. It really makes a difference at this time of the year TT

6 Apr, 2011

Hi Annella ~
I have friends who, throughout the year, attend lots of dog shows in the Northants area ... and the weather seems often to be very different to the areas of England around it... north, south, east and west... Lol.. I reckon Northamptonshire has its own micro-climate ;o)

6 Apr, 2011

I think you're right TT

6 Apr, 2011

I do like your gardens, Terra! One disadvantage of living in Oz is that nothing stays green and the weather is not cold enough. Happy gardening :•)

6 Apr, 2011

Hi Terratoonie, all the pictures are stunning very well done,:)) BBFB
