Conker's GARDEN CENTRE outing

Hello…… my name is Conker………

I am a Shetland Sheepdog…………5 years old…

Months ago, back in April, I became very ill with lymphoma cancer.
By early June, I was near to death, but the clever vet at the specialist clinic operated to save my life…

…. then every week till 10th November, I made the journey to the clinic for my chemotherapy….

…my hair has gone thin and my left cheek hasn’t yet healed completely…… but…..

….. yesterday I was well enough to enjoy my first big outing !

We visited a garden centre and we had a lovely time !

……………………………………………………………………………..

When I first arrived, I wasn’t sure about this place…..
……was it another vet clinic ?

………………………………………………………………………………

…Not at all !….It’s a magical wonderland……..
…… look at these lovely cyclamen plants !

………………………………………………………………………………

Signs to Santa’s Grotto, and to Christmas trees….
…….which way shall I go ?

……………………………………………………………………………….

Wow…….snowmen and penguins…….
…….I’m having great fun…

……………………………………………………………………………….

I’m really happy now….
……….look, I’ve found Santa Claus :o)

……………………………………………………………………………….

Here are bird houses……
……which do you like ?…..blue or red ?

……………………………………………………………………………….

We couldn’t miss out on the clogs and wellies…..
……………..I prefer the light blue. Lol….

……………………………………………………………………………….

Those watering cans are nice, but too large for me……
…………..I must find something smaller

……………………………………………………………………………….

Little plastic buckets and garden tools…….
……………these pretty pink ones are just my size :o)

……………………………………………………………………………….

I’m on the alert for Flower Pot People………..
……….false alarm…..these are Snow People……

……………………………………………………………………………….

Outside now…..and I’m on guard…….
…………………. in case these large pots turn into giant Flower Pot People…..

……………………………………………………………………………….

Here I am…….up on top…………
………I “KNOW HOW” to climb up here..Lol.

……………………………………………………………………………….

Inside the garden centre, we’re in the pet shop………
………………but I’m puzzled by so many HUGE PHOTOS of “Crocus” our budgie….Lol…

……………………………………………………………………………….

I’m not a porky pooch……….

……………………………………………………………………………….

I’m a good dog :o)

……………………………………………………………………………….

That’s Maggie… She is friendly…. but what I didn’t know….
……………a pussy cat was hiding behind the counter……

……………………………………………………………………………….

I’m sure the pussy cat followed us out of the pet shop…..
…………I like cats….where’s that cat ?….

………………………………………………………………………………..

Did the pussycat go that way… to my left ?

………………………………………………………………………………..

I know that puddy tat is around here somewhere….

Can you see the cat ? Lol.

………………………………………………………………………………..

These woolly animals are easier to find…..
…………I’ll stick to herding sheep…Lol.

…………………………………………………………………………………………….

Thanks to everyone at the garden centre for being so helpful and making Conker so welcome……
….Rob, the manager, and his staff….
…. and the many customers……
…………and Maggie in the pet shop…:o)

…………………………………………………………………………………………….

Here I am……back home….. with the plants we bought……
…..and chews for Truffle’s birthday…..sssshhhhh…..
…..and….my new hat from Scotkat..:o)

……………………………………………………………………………………………..

Conker has a one in ten chance of remaining in remission and the cancer not returning……
………Every day is precious….:o)

26 Nov, 2009

Conker says thank you...
The Conkering Hero didn't spot the cat....
...but did you see it ? Lol.

26 Nov, 2009

No - couldn't spot it! Now when you say he likes cats - does he really , or does he like chasing them, Tt?? LOL.

26 Nov, 2009

Conker is gentle....
..he loves cats... would not chase or hurt...

26 Nov, 2009

Yes I saw her - the same colours as my old Fluffy.
Fluffy would attack a dog. She'd go for their eyes. She was not afraid of any dog. All the dogs in the vet's would tremble when they saw her. I had to cover the cage up so that they couldn't see her.
Maybe she'd be friendly to Conker. She was friendly to those who were friendly to her. Just like me really lol

26 Nov, 2009

Conker looks so well what a great day out for you both he looks so alert and happy posing for his photos love his hat (.I saw the cat)

26 Nov, 2009

Conker, don't tell Tt, but you do better blogs, you should do them all yourself from now on. I love you in you new hat, what a talented lot here on Goy. Every picture made me smile, then at the end, I had a lump in my throat, if anyone deserves to be a one in ten, it's you x

26 Nov, 2009

Conker appreciates all your comments.... and is glad some of you found the cat on the photo... even though he hadn't a clue where it was...Lol.

Amongst Conker's collection of trick equipment items, he has many toy pianos, two toy typewriters, a couple of toy computers, and heaps of gardening equipment....so I see no reason why he shouldn't join GoY himself...with his own choice of name and avatar.... maybe a pic of Hywel's cat Blodyn...he likes her.... and that would confuse everyone..Lol.

26 Nov, 2009

Blodyn would be flattered :D
xxx

26 Nov, 2009

Lol. xxx

26 Nov, 2009

26 Nov, 2009

woof woof ,wag wag.smal bones, big bones, sniff sniff, lick lick. from Percy xxxx

26 Nov, 2009

Awww what a lovely blog :)) So pleased that Conker is doing well and enjoying outings again (especially to GC's...). Trust and pray that he's got the 1:10 chance TT...he deserves it, and so do you xx

P.S. A wee tail to make you smile, lol....:))) My "grandson" Alfie (the great big dogue de bordeaux) was taken on an "outing" to our local "Pets at Home"....and cocked his leg on the bookstand....all over the hardback books, lol! Hope Conker was better behaved in the GC....LOL

26 Nov, 2009

Oh Di!!! Henry did that once at the vet's, all over the packets of food! Sorry to laugh - but aren't they awful....but Conker looks so angelic, I can't imagine him doing it at the GC....he didn't did he, Tt?? Or Truffle??

26 Nov, 2009

Thank you for your comments. Yes Conker loves the warm hat from Scotkat...so kind of her to make it for him...she is very talented :o)

During the whole of Conker's illness he has never once made a mess anywhere... I'm very proud of him, being such a clean boy. :o)

I'm so pleased that Conker had such a nice day out TT , it's good to see him looking so well ... :o) keep up the good work Conker !

26 Nov, 2009

I'm sure he is, Tt. You have every right to be proud of him!

I was very embarassed at Henry doing that - but it was a long time ago - and it was when he was a bit scared, too. He'd always gone happily into the surgery, but something 'spooked' him that day. :-(((

26 Nov, 2009

Thank you Amy :o)
He's working hard at being a one-in-ten dog. xxx

26 Nov, 2009

Oh LOL :))) Henry you are a such a naughty boy!! Winnie just tries to crawl under the shelf where the packets of food are at our vets....then she has a quick nervous breakdown, and crosses her legs until she gets home....;)) Big Alfie on the other hand, can wee for England....hence I no longer have floor standing house plants in my house....he's drowned too many on his visits to Grandma...;))
Conker I am sure, is a model of respectability and would not dream of such unrefined behaviour.....;)) Truffle however, has that gleam in his eye.....LOL

26 Nov, 2009

Well done Conker! I love your wooly hat from Scotkat. You look so well! xx

26 Nov, 2009

Di - he went on the vet's computer as being an 'anxious dog' because he then put his tail between his legs, backed into the corner and.....growled at the vet -who is his favourite and a great guy!

All is well, now, though. It was a one-off. He just trots in wagging now. :-))

26 Nov, 2009

Oh I'm glad Henry has conquered his fear of the vets, Spritz :) I doubt Winnie ever will....but she's 100% better than she was. The first time I took her, she crawled in on her belly, and shivered and shook for hours after. Now, at least she will walk in on a lead, before cowering in a corner...

26 Nov, 2009

Poor Winnie! :-(((

26 Nov, 2009

She was seriously abused in her previous life :((( The vets are so pleased with her now....she's a great girl, and doing really well :))

26 Nov, 2009

Lovely to see you had a great day out, Conker and nice of you to take TT as well, very handy for taking the photos as you posed so beautifully! You are looking very well and very handsome in your new hat. What on earth did you do with Truffle while you were out? Did he stay 'home alone' and was everything intact when you returned?

26 Nov, 2009

27 Nov, 2009

Hello TT. Great to see Conker looking so happy and well. Glad you all could enjoy a good day out. xx

27 Nov, 2009

Hi Phil....
Conker and Truffle enjoyed their day out, and I bought some lovely alpines.
Today Conker seemed cold, so he has started wearing the knitted coat which belonged to my old Welsh Terrier "Bonsai"...
... I guess it won't be too many weeks before Conker's own hair starts growing back :o)

27 Nov, 2009

great to see you had a lovely day out, and that Conker can get out and about again, I'm not surprised he was so tired by the end of the day. What a lovely blog, and to see him looking so well, xx

27 Nov, 2009

Thanks, Joanella and Holly...
Scotkat made the hat very well, didn't she !
Did you spot the cat which Conker couldn't find ? Lol.

27 Nov, 2009

no was there one about

27 Nov, 2009

Ah yes just spotted him at the back...lol

27 Nov, 2009

I'm so pleased Conker enjoyed his day out, he is looking so well, but like you say day at a time, but he did enjoy his self and hope you all did, Conker love Truffles birthday pressy wont tell him promise, your hat is keeping you warm aswell infact you may need it as they've given it to go colder, anyway all the best Conker thinking of you every day, so lots and lots of hugs and kisses from me and old Smokey, he went to vets on tuesday for another injection, fingers crossed he will be ok till after xmas, although he as lost abit of weight this time.

27 Nov, 2009

Hi Clarice...
Yes, I'm hoping it won't be until the end of January that Conker will need a check-up.. Likewise for Smokey.... let's hope you both can enjoy Christmas and New Year together, without any trips to the vet... The weather is due to turn cold over coming days, so I'm glad Conker seems to like old Bonsai the Welsh Terrier's coat. I put the coat on Conker for the first time ever this morning, and he's curled up wearing it... warm and cosy in his dog bed...Lol.

I'm sure you'll give Smokey some extra Christmas treats to try to keep up his weight. Love & hugs. xxx

27 Nov, 2009

TT - if ever I have a dog I would love one like Conker as he really is so beautiful - inside and out. Your love and care for him are slowing showing their fruits

A big hug with lots of purrs from us all in the Eternal City xxxx

27 Nov, 2009

Terry60.... that's a lovely thing to say....
Some people say that Shelties are like cats in that they sit and lick their paws and make themselves clean, and Conker has been curled up on my lap this morning like a cat.....and did you spot the cat in the pic ? Lol. xxx

27 Nov, 2009

Nothing short of the truth TT - he is just so adorable

Indeed I did spot the cat, not saying where tho' !!!!!!

27 Nov, 2009

I'm of to Homes For Pets over weekend to see if something special jumps out at me to get him, he's getting ready for a new collar aswell as his as seen better days now, he needs to wear one as the catflap is electronic and he as to to have a magnet on his collar so he can get back in, i know these catflaps are dearer than the ordinary ones but with these other cats can't get in the house, very often i hear funny noises at back door and when i look its other cats trying to get in, dont get me wrong i love cats but i dont like all the cats around coming in, have to watch when back door open when its nice weather as sometimes there are cats eating his food, and i hate having to chase them off.

27 Nov, 2009

I hope you find a new collar, Clarice....it's understandable you need that for the cat flap.. and, of course, however much you like cats, you don't want to find about 50 neighbourhood cats have walked in and are fast asleep in your kitchen. Lol.

Hi Terry60... thanks for not revealing EXACTLY where the cat is in the pic.Lol.

27 Nov, 2009

Thats a laugh before i got one of these going back about 10-12yrs ago had just a ordinary catflap, got up one morning and as i walked in the lounge there was a big cat all white with just a bit of black on it streached out on the settee, and i said to what do you think your doing in here, and he just slowly got of the settee walked to the flap looked round at me and carried on out the flap, had to laugh at it, but after that made up my mind and went straight to petshop and got a electronic one, will look for something else for him aswell, he's gone off the little treats they do for cats aswell, may get him a new bed, know it sounds horrible but as much as i love him i keep thinking is it worth getting him to much, then i think to myself i thought that last xmas and he his still here bless him.

27 Nov, 2009

Lol. Clarice...
That's a good story.... I bet that cat had a very comfortable night's sleep...
probably went through a different cat flap every evening into the warm home of its choice..:o)
I'm sure when you get into the pet shop you'll be able to make good choices as to what you buy for Smokey. Let us know what you choose !

27 Nov, 2009

Will do, you could be right with that cat as alot of folks use to turn there cats out alnight, mind you think some folks still do, old Smokey likes his comfort at nights, when ever i get up in night he's always fast asleep in his bed, thinking about that i could get him a new bed,he's had this one a while now.

27 Nov, 2009

You look after Smokey very well, Clarice...Lucky cat :o)

27 Nov, 2009

Terra its so good to see conker looking so well. I hope he has the best xmas ever he deserves it and you too. God Bless You both and may he give conker many more happy years with you. :-)

27 Nov, 2009

Many thanks, Blah... I pray every day Conker will be a one-in-ten dog and stay in remission....
..he is really enjoying life... good appetite... loves to play.... and hopefully starting to grow a lot of hair back again :o)

27 Nov, 2009

Oh Terra I was so pleased to see Conker looking so well and that hat is something else! The pussy cat that Conker didn't spot is quite similar in colouring to my Jade (she gives dogs a wide berth too)
We have a kind of cat flap but still a cat from next door but one has been trying to 'adopt' me! He waltzes in looking for food and none of mine take the slightest bit of notice. Not a bit scared either, the other day I was having a cup of coffee and he walked in and jumped on my lap !! if that sounds strange, in Spain our front doors are open all day (except Jan/Feb) but my screen door was closed
He and his (litter) sister have both been neutered but their owners are out all day, every day (they own a bar/restaurant) they leave food out but the cats aren't allowed indoors and they have very little contact with them. Such a shame because Vincente is a lovely boy and I hate chasing him out. Although mine don't have a go at him its not fair to include him (and quite possibly his sister Rosa) in our household.
Winge over :-) Enjoy your outings with Conker and Truffle and lets hope Conker's recovery continues well.
Hug, Purrs and Wavey tails from our puss cats.
Take care.
Chris xx

27 Nov, 2009

i answered you tt to tell you id spotted the cat, just realised i hadnt submitted it~~numpty~~

27 Nov, 2009

Hi Joanella ~
I thought you would find the puddy tat :o)

Hello Chris ~
That darker colouring of cat, as with your Jade, is not so easy to spot.Lol.
Sounds like Vincente and Rosa would very much like to move in with you...
... but not fair on your own cats...
Thanks for the hugs, purrs and wavey tails.....
Conker seems even better since his outing.... it seems we'd better visit another garden centre....soon.. :o) xxx

27 Nov, 2009

A bit like us TT, when we've been cooped up and poorly it makes us feel better to get out and do something different. Lovely to see him, his eyes look bright, interested and alert...all good signs! :o)

27 Nov, 2009

You are so right, Pottygardener...
The garden centre outing did all of us a lot of good....
...even though we seem to have been exhausted ever since...
..but "happy tired" if you know what we mean...:o)

27 Nov, 2009

Glad you enjoyed your outing, Conker! Thin coat or not, you're still a gorgeous boy, & so clever, writing this great blog! Wags wiggles, etc from me Smudge , Iggle Piggle & Hetty!

27 Nov, 2009

Thank you, Madperth...
Will Smudge be writing blogs ? ...:o)

27 Nov, 2009

No, Smudge is too busy trying to wake IP & H up so she can play!!

27 Nov, 2009

How lovely to see that Conker feels well enough to take you to the GC ..LOL
He really obviously enjoys himself a lot and it shows. Isn't it amazing how he has picked up so quickly after that last lot of chemo ...I am impressed .....and I am SO pleased for him and YOU too TT Your devoted care has paid off - it has been a long and very tough time and you all deserve the remission and a lovely Xmas and a peaceful year ahead.
Big hugs from the Golden Girls and me to you all!!
Cx

27 Nov, 2009

Hi Alz and the Golden Girls ~
Conker does seem to have perked up in recent days...:o)
.... he has coped with so many weeks of veterinary treatment that he deserves to enjoy some good health and happy times. Thanks and hugs. xxx

If you'd seen him this morning... wearing Bonsai's old coat to keep warm... but playing energetic tug rope games around the house with Truffle.... you would have smiled ....
...yes, more outings soon I hope. xxx

29 Nov, 2009

Hi Maree...
Yes, please.... that's all I want for Christmas....xxx

29 Nov, 2009

We'll all put in a word with Santa & hope & pray that you get it, Terra! :~))

29 Nov, 2009

Ditto! :~))

29 Nov, 2009

Absolutely :<))

29 Nov, 2009

Lovely Conker enjoying your day out...I bet you were tired after that. A snuggly hat to keep you warm though and all our love you brave boy!....XXX

29 Nov, 2009

Good to see Conker out and having a nice day with you...his fur looks a bit thin and wispy..wish I could hug him ....I bet the people in the garden centre loved having him there...just precious...I just met a lady who is a writer..she came to my garage sale on Friday..she has written a book called "When God Wears Fur" she had the front cover for it in her car..she brought it to show to me..it had a dog on it..I was so happy to meet her and hear her story...
Her name is Jane Li Fox should you want to keep an eye out for her little pocket book, that is what she calls them..I feel she must know how I feel about my furs and what Conker, Truffle and Crocus is to you... hugs to all..
Love and xx's ~Cat

30 Nov, 2009

Yay that Conker's done with chemo! He does look a bit thin but happy...
(I did see the cat!)

30 Nov, 2009

Thanks, Madperth, Skillen and Wagger....
Santa's sleigh will be weighed down with your good wishes for Conker...

30 Nov, 2009

Hi Janey...
We were happy after our day out... and all tired... except... guess who...
Mr. Truffle....Lol. xxx

30 Nov, 2009

Hello Cat....
I hope your garage sale went well...
... hugs to you across the big pond..xxx

30 Nov, 2009

Hi Raquel..
Well done on spotting the cat ! Lol.
Conker is eating well now....
I'm hoping his hair will start growing soon...
I keep peering at his skin to see if new hair has started to sprout...
It's like waiting for a new lawn to grow...:o)

30 Nov, 2009

How lovely to see Conker getting out and about again, it's good to see him looking so alert and well. I can understand his suspicion of the venue though. LOL
He is very literate for a dog and I think you should definitely let him take over the job, for a canine slant on things.
I haven't spotted the cat yet though.......

30 Nov, 2009

Hello Lily...
Not spotted the cat ? Maybe ask Daisy to take a look... she'll find it..Lol.

Conker settled quite quickly at the garden centre... as soon as he realised it was a "photo shoot"...Lol.

30 Nov, 2009

I loved your blog Conker is a beautiful little man and I know my little Teddy would love him and we will say lots of prayers that he gets back to full health,he certainly looks very bright and healthy and I hope Santa brings him lots of goodies.

30 Nov, 2009

Oh ..sorry... tell Conker..I did see his cat. He looks like he knows it is there..lol

30 Nov, 2009

Thanks Maggy7 ~
Yes, I'm sure your little Teddy would love Conker :o)
Thanks for your prayers and good wishes....
Conker will be hanging up his Christmas stocking very soon, next to stockings for Truffle my Smooth Fox Terrier and for Crocus my budgie...Lol.

Hi Cat ~
Funny thing is Conker had no idea the cat was there ! Lol.

30 Nov, 2009

Are you sure TT? lol..he has a look in that photo like he thinks something is up..lol

30 Nov, 2009

Conker is a beauty, and what a good boy to sit and have his photos taken (especially in his new hat). Sending hugs and love to Conker and Truffles xxx

30 Nov, 2009

Welcome to GoY Busylizzy!

30 Nov, 2009

Hi Busylizzy ~
Thanks for visiting Conker's blog and taking the tour with him around the garden centre.
He loves his new hat.. :o)
..... love & hugs from Conker, Truffle and Crocus. xxx

1 Dec, 2009

Hi Terra,
Just checking in, it sounds like Conker is coming on in leaps and bounds :-) How is the Malt Crunchie supply? I bet Truffle is pleased to have his doggy brother back to scamper around with.
Winter is upon us now I fear - it's cold and bright, but not expected to rise much above 16c today. It rained on Sunday too! The first rain since 13th October. I fear we may have a cold winter this year as the 'outdoor' cats coats are really thick.
Lets hope you take Conker and Truffle on another outing very soon.
Hugs purrs and wavey tails from Spain, to everyone including Crocus.
Take care.
Chris xx

24 days to Christmas !!!!

1 Dec, 2009

Hi Chris...
Seems like you are into Spanish winter... very cold in England today, but the forecast is milder tomorrow...
Everyone cosy indoors here with an ample stock of Malt Crunchies :o)
Lots of wags to the Iberian cats. Love & hugs...T,C. T. & C. xxx

1 Dec, 2009

Good to see you out and about Conker. And what better place for your first outing? You really are such a well behaved dog (or has TT censored the naughty bits?) :>))

3 Dec, 2009

Hello Ponty ~
Yes, the garden centre is one of Conker's favourite places :o)
Conker is VERY well-behaved.... but...
... I didn't take photos when, a bit later on, I walked Truffle around....
Truffle isn't naughty... but he's very lively..Lol.

3 Dec, 2009

3 Dec, 2009

Hi Indy...
Thanks for checking in on Conker..
I hope your property is keeping free from floods ?
Yes, we are all benefiting by having this break from weeks and weeks of vet visits...It's not till I stop and take a breather that I realise how exhausting a year it has been !
Please keep wagging :o)))

5 Dec, 2009

Oh dear, I think I may be delirious! All these squiggles and dots and I don't get any of them. First day back online in nearly a week!. Why.....
1. A lengthy and (painful) visit to the dentist on Tuesday, followed by a trip to Alicante airport to pick up a friend's son on Wednesday. Went down with something very evil Thursday and Friday didn't leave my bed at all ! Picked up a bug from you infectious 'Brits' I think !!
Staggered out of bed on Saturday because the cats, garden husband and house needed me (in that order) Did what I had too before collapsing onto sofa yesterday evening.
Today - hubby is full of aches and pains (has man flu) I am still caching up on washing, cleaning and watering. BUT the sun is shining 18c we have 'Biking Santas' in the bar opposite - its an annual charity thing, and I am feeling better. Will tuck hubby up and get on I think - must do Christmas decs soon!!
There I've hijacked your blog Terra sorry :-(
I am sure Conker carries on going from strength to strength, and Truffle is able to run off steam with him. Hope you and yours are all well, the weather looks to be improving at least on the extremes.
Keep warm and dry everyone.
Love, hugs, wavey tails (and the odd sniff) from the sickly Spanish!!
Take care
Chris xx

BTW I don't do Geek Speak either - must be an age thing :-)

6 Dec, 2009

Hi Chris...
Glad to know you're recovering from your aches and pains...
There were heavy rain storms here this morning, but now the sun is out...:o)

Get plenty of rest.xxx

6 Dec, 2009

Ok Indi, you're a genious.... Happy now? :-)

6 Dec, 2009

Slip of the brain BA my apologies, too tired after loads of studying, Hope I didnt make the same kind of mistake in my essay!!! LOL

7 Dec, 2009

Did you manage to condense it enough, Indy? I had to chop mine in half when I did the word count!

7 Dec, 2009

At last!!!! I've reached the last post after a half hour marathon of blog reading!!! ;-D

Fantastic blog you've made up once again TT!!! I really love the photos of Conker! Makes me want to have one after Boli passed away. Just as well my wife doesn't see your blogs, TT, or we'd have the flat so full of cats & dogs that we'd have to live in the entrance hall of the block of flats where we live!

I've always loved a "Lassie" type dog as well as a "Rin Tin Tin" type as well! We had up to 7 little dogs in our flat in Spain & when I took them out for walkies people used to call me Ben Hur! :-D LOL!

12 Dec, 2009

i'm pleased you like the photos of Conker, Balcony.
You obviously still miss lovely Boli a lot.

I've just had an email reply back from Conker's clinic vet... I had sent a message to the vet last week giving him a progress report on Conker, but the vet has been away so apologised for the delay in replying to me...

The vet says to phone the clinic in the New Year to make an appointment for Conker's check up... some time during January.... On the day of the check-up, Conker must have no breakfast, because if they think the cancer has returned, they would have to give him anaesthetic and endoscopy... I'm sure I'll get very anxious as Conker's check-up day looms, but we are going to enjoy Christmas and New Year first...

Last week I climbed into my attic, and carried down Conker's Christmas tricks. He has his own Santa and sleigh which you can see in one of my GoY photos... He pulls that backwards around the room! Lol.

He also has his own little Christmas tree and when he presses a switch with his foot, the lights turn on. :o) He really enjoys all those routines, so well worth the effort of my climbing up in the attic !

15 Dec, 2009

so glad that conker is doing good, hope that it keeps getting better, and have a merry xmas, and a big gift for conker

15 Dec, 2009

Thanks, Pondlady...
Conker's stocking is already hanging up ready for Santa, so we're going to enjoy the Christmas holidays, whatever the new year might bring ! :o)
Merry Christmas to you in Canada. xxx

15 Dec, 2009

Glad to hear Conker is ready and willing to join in the Christmas party games Terra. You're right to enjoy his good health, try not to let worries about the future spoil the happy present. x

15 Dec, 2009

I agree with Lily! You need some time to relax & enjoy things as they are!
Its great that he's so well!
:~))

15 Dec, 2009

That's cheating putting stockings up before Christmas Eve! Naughty Conker - or was it you, Terra? I can't imagine Conker being naughty like that! Or maybe it was Truffle? Call in Sherlock Bones to investigate!!!

16 Dec, 2009

Thanks Lily and Madperth ~
Yes, Conker and friends are all set to enjoy Christmas....
no need to think about January appointments quite yet. :o)

Hi Wagger ~

The three stockings are hung up VERY high so that Truffle aka Trouble can't jump up and reach them... The stockings are so very high up, I reckon Crocus budgie flew up there with them...though he is moulting so much this week, I would have thought Sherlock Bones could have followed evidence of a trail of pretty green feathers...Lol.

16 Dec, 2009

Hi Terra, glad to hear Conker is is doing so well and enjoying his Christmas games:-)) The New Year could also bring good news too you know:-)) Dogs apparently live in the present and you've given him the chance to have one, let the future be. Oooh what is in their stockings, perhaps a little coat for a wee baldy bird ? Oh silly me 8~/ of course you can't say, as those clever animals of yours are sure to read this:-)))

16 Dec, 2009

Thanks, Bornagain... lovely words...and true..
we're making the most of every day...:o)

I asked Truffle whether for Christmas he would like something INCREDIBLE....he repolied he would like just the second half...something "EDIBLE" Lol.Lol.Lol.

16 Dec, 2009

That's what you get for naming him after food, lol!

16 Dec, 2009

How is his training coming along? Is the smooth temperament different from the wires? I suppose with a boy so food orientated it makes his training easier, even if he is very 'terrier'??

16 Dec, 2009

Truffle is very intelligent but extremely lively and boisterous...
The Smooths seem more easily distracted than the Wires... and probably more lively too.... but he is not an aggressive Terrier... just energetic and very happy, with an ever-wagging tail ...
..and yes, as with many Terriers, food for training purposes....:o)...Lol.

16 Dec, 2009

I've tried teaching Rosie, just to sit and lie down on command, but she's too willing to please and as soon as my hand touches her back, she's rolled over in submissive attitude wagging furiously then bouncing up "is this what you wanted mum?" Meggie was easier but now lies down immediately I hold a treat, nodding her head as if to say I've done it wheres my sweetie? I just don't have the knack, I'm sure someone like you could easily teach them tricks:-) but they are very easy to live with and obedient in their own way, never naughty at home so can't complain. In fact they just sleep most of the time! very laid back:-)

16 Dec, 2009

No pet stockings hung up at all here yet Terra, we are using treats for training as well and it works sometimes lol ,Brynner however has added Calenchoes to his diet during the night, naughty boy can reach the worktops so in desperate need of places for plants....Pleased to read Conker is enjoying his xmas tricks with his sleigh, does Truffle join in as well ?..

16 Dec, 2009

Hi Lincslass..
I had to smile reading "Brynner can reach work tops" ... :o(
..Truffle can also reach these..but only when he thinks no-one is watching him.... I have to push items towards the back, to be extra sure... but I do run out of "safe" places .Lol.

Truffle has learnt a few easy tricks, but I wouldn't expect him to do the intricate routines which Conker performs...I must make that tricks blog in the New Year !

16 Dec, 2009

Glad to hear that Conker's getting into the spirit of Christmas! He sure is one bright boy!

16 Dec, 2009

Hello Balcony...
Yes, Conker is getting very festive here..
He has the biggest Christmas stocking. Lol. :o)

22 Dec, 2009

Feliz Navidad to you all. So glad to hear of Conker's continuing improvement. I should definately enjoy Christmas and think about January's appointment after the festivities.
It's a beautiful clear Christmas Morning here, cool but should warm up later. After lunch we hope to take our traditional walk along the beach - lots of tail wagging doggies bouncing about of course :-) Our tribe of puss cats will no doubt be prone and full of Turkey! It's Freddy's first Christmas with us this year. Also the first year (in 23) that we are without any Burmese.
Hope that you Conker,Truffle and Crocus enjoy your day. Have a Happy and Healthy Christmas and an even better 2010!
Love, hugs, purrs and wavey tails from Spain.
Chris xx

25 Dec, 2009

Merry Christmas to you, Chris and your family, friends and Alicante cats...:o)

I hope you enjoy a lovely walk along the beach.
I gave Conker and Truffle a rope toy this morning and they've been enjoying lively games... So, yes, we're definitely having a happy time over the holidays, and won't worry about January for a while :o)
Wags and tweets from England to you all in Spain... xxx

1 Jan, 2010

Hi Madperth...
Happy New Year to you. I hope you had a good Christmas...
Conker's motto is One in Ten for 2010....

1 Jan, 2010

I did thanks! Very quiet New Year though! It was 12 below, so I didn't go out as planned! Yep! One in Ten for 2010!! Catchy!!
Hope you had a great time too!

1 Jan, 2010

My first time here in awhile TT...So glad to see Conker doing so well! All the best for you and your boys in 2010!

6 Jan, 2010

Thanks NN...
Happy 2010 to you, Scrunchion and Chummy. xxx

7 Jan, 2010

Just looking in to check everythings ok, happy to see it is:-))

7 Jan, 2010

Hi Bornagain ~
Thank you.
I hope you and yours are well in this icy weather.
Conker's hair is still thin, so he wears one knitted coat during the day, and TWO knitted coats at night...

Keep safe and warm. :o)

8 Jan, 2010

I love the snow, it's so beautiful and it's a good excuse not to shop. I was driven (son-in-law and daughter) to our local Morrisons yesterday for a big shop...it was horrendous, just like Christmas, everyone stocking up for a siege! Suppose I was too:-) Much nicer over the fields:-) Anyway I've still got some over-stocking left from Christmas! What's it like by you? If Conkers hair is like humans, it often comes back thicker.... you may have to shave him for the summer lol ;-)

8 Jan, 2010

Sounds like you have enough provisions that you would be okay if snowed in for a month, but I hope it won't be that long... Lol.
We are coping here thanks...
Conker's hair has regrown around his muzzle...
...other areas of his body are taking much longer to show new hair !

8 Jan, 2010

Although I do love the snow, I think it's getting close to outstaying its welcome and I am worried about wildlife:-( I also stupidly bought new plants in the winter doh 8~/ which are in pots outside awaiting makeover. I only hope they make it through: -) I wonder how long it will take to get his coat back? Still as long as he is well, who cares if he's bald, he'll still look beautiful:-)

8 Jan, 2010

Let's hope in the summer your plants will be blossoming, and Conker will be well also. :o)

8 Jan, 2010

I always check on here Terra and really pleased to see Conker`s hair is regrowing does that mean his cheek is better now?.

8 Jan, 2010

Hi Lincslass ~
Thanks for looking in on Conker.
His face hair has regrown... and the cheek abscess is much smaller, but there is still a central area in it which needs to act as a sinus, with a tiny amount of discharge each day....
It will take a long while for hair to regrow on the rest of his body.

8 Jan, 2010

Hi, TT. Back from our Christmas holidays in Spain & just checking in to see how Conker is doing. He seems to be holding up fine at present I just hope everything goes well for him during 2010.

Happy New Year to you & your "boys". :-)

10 Jan, 2010

Hi Balcony....
I hope you had a lovely time in Spain. Was it nice and warm ?
Yes, all well here. thanks.
During this icy weather Conker is still wearing one knitted coat during the day and two knitted coats at night...

I've added some more pics to the GoYpedia balconies, but would still like to include more of yours... do you have any favourites ?

Is your balcony full of snow right now ?

10 Jan, 2010

We had a good time in Spain & it was indeed warmer than here but we had rain almost every day! Sometimes it was very heavy, too! The weather was a lot more warmer than is normal for this time of the year - many days we had around 8ºC - 10ºC - when we lived there it hardly got above freezing at this time of year! We hardly had more than 2 days of sunshine & two half days! It was raining heavily when we got off the train in Cuenca, it continued all night & part of the following morning!

The weather was due to the winds coming from the SW over the Atlantic & causing torrential downpours in SW Spain & many 1,000s of families were forced out off their homes by flooding. :-(

We had no flooding in Cuenca but one day of torrential rainfall caused a reservoir up river to overflow & they were forced to open the sluice gates to avoid it bursting!

I don´t have any particular favourites & you can choose whatever photos seem most appropriate for the balconies category . It will be some months before I have any more photos of my balcony to upload although I have 100´s on my computer! They cover most of the 8 years we´ve lived here!

I have a few photos of snow on the balcony, I could upload them but they are not very good.

10 Jan, 2010

Wow... what wet weather in Spain !
I've found your most recent pics...:o)

11 Jan, 2010

Conker now has a new blog :o)

15 Jan, 2010

What a great blog Terra!!! Conker is so well behaved and looks like his cat radar needs tuning... LOL...

Couldn't help myself - "Truffle" Award for over 200 comments :o)

21 Jun, 2010

Just seen this again Terra, what a difference to now:-) Is it edible Pip?

22 Jun, 2010

Such a cute dog! Which is what I always think when I see pictures of him...he looks adorable and so sweet posing in all the pictures! = )

22 Jun, 2010

LOL Bornagain.... I refer to Truffle the dog :o)

23 Jun, 2010

:-( i was so looking forward to one, but never mind, Truffle always raises a smile:-)

23 Jun, 2010

True :o)))

24 Jun, 2010

Wow! That is a very lovely but different Conker to the one I know and love! By the way Terra, I meant to say before, I'd much rather have a lovely wooden fence run for the dogs like yours, it's so pretty and fits in to a garden setting much better than the big metal thing we have...but I should have thought of it before I bought it! :)

14 Jun, 2014

Hi Karen ...
Those were positive days ... Conker was getting stronger

... the hardest part had been many months earlier, when Conker had been deteriorating every day ... could hardly breathe or eat .. and the vets were puzzled as to why he was so unwell.

I'm sure your metal dog-run is the right choice for your dogs ... Willow might chew her way out of a wooden run ;o)

14 Jun, 2014

Now, that's very true! She would too! Lol!

14 Jun, 2014

Lol.. ;o)
