My front garden … Rose Heartbeat …
……………………………………………………………..
Hello. When it’s hot in the garden I like to sunbathe …
……………………………………………………………..
Indoors, Crocus the budgie chills out in his bath …
… coooool, man, cooooool … :o)
………………………………………………………………
We had so much dry weather, we worried that our roses would be thirsty …
………………………………………………………………
We use rainwater on the gardens …
……………………………………………………………….
We have lots of watering cans …
………………………………………………………………..
My cans are the brightly coloured ones …
………………………………………………………………..
I have blue ones, and green ones … lots and lots …
…………………………………………………………………
… and red cans too … Lol. …
………………………………………………………………….
… Here’s Truffle. He has a red watering can …
………………………………………………………………….
… Truffle does it wrong …
… pours water all over his left foot. LOL. …
…………………………………………………………………..
… I’m counting the cans …
… making sure Truffle hasn’t run off with any …
……………………………………………………………………
… All twenty cans present and correct. :o)
……………………………………………………………………
In the evening, we watered the whole garden …
… the roses were delighted … :o)
……………………………………………………………………
……………………………………………………………………
Cooler weather now …
… the skies are full of rain drops
Truffle checks the water butts …
… filling up with free water …
… the Ceanothus petals falling like confetti !
The sunshine will soon be back again …

That is amazing, about your "Cliff richard" rose,Terra.I bought 2 about 4 years ago,and they are approx 4ft high now, before they have flowered.! ..I have just been out,and measured them against me.Lol.They don't bush out too much, but have always been like this.I will post a pic when they flower.I wonder if anyone else has this variety.it would be interesting to see, wouldn't it? ..or were mine wrongly labelled?.they were bought from a good garden centre,so I just assumed they were correct....but you never can tell:o)))
7 Jun, 2010
Lovely roses you have, TT! I especially liked that one you opened your blog with! I like all the other roses as well! Conker & Truffles look in fine fettle! Where did you get so many watering cans from? I've never seen so many different cans in one place before!!

Hi Fluff ... I'm so glad you like the blog. Thanks...xxx
Hello Bloomer... I'll look forward to your pic of Rose Cliff Richard.. I'm hoping mine will flower more this year ... Sometimes roses are wrongly labelled....
Those watering cans, Balcony... from charity shops and car boot sales at charity dog shows... We bought a couple more little cans last Sunday ... and to the amusement of the stall holder, Conker carried one can all the way back to our car.. Lol.
Hi Arlene.. I've told Truffle you said he looks all grown up. ;o) x
Thanks Neellan ... Yes Crocus is probably the most sensible member of my household. LOL.
Hello Rbtkew ... I thought you ALWAYS used one of those little watering cans at work... Lol...
... Truth is, there are times when those tiny cans are very useful for watering in odd corners ! :o)))
8 Jun, 2010
Truffle and Conker are as splendid as always - and as for your roses competing with the colourful watering cans - not easy to judge which win !!!
8 Jun, 2010
Lol. Terry60 ...
Maybe we should match the watering cans with the roses...
... water the red roses with the red cans etc. :o)
8 Jun, 2010
Hey what a brilliant idea - then you wouldn't see the wood for the trees !!
8 Jun, 2010
I love your blog, beautiful, the roses are wonderful, I have just got Mdm Isaac Periere out, I keep sniffing. x
8 Jun, 2010

8 Jun, 2010
Hi Flori.
At the charity dog show last Sunday, in the car boot sale, we bought 2 more little watering cans... 10 pence each. LOL.
Conker carried one can all the way back to our car ...
Conker and his pals send <hugs> to you. x
8 Jun, 2010
You will be making up a seperate blog for them, if you haven't got it already Terra!
Raffie sends licks and <hugs> back to you all too, you could even have some extra dog hairs if you want them~he really is such a generous mutt!!
Lovely to know all's good with you. Glad to say new polycarb roof survived the downpour we had today, and all is still dry!!! Am quietly estatic and greatly relieved :~))xxx
8 Jun, 2010
Talking about smelling the roses reminded me of our granddaughter last week. She spends most of Sunday with us & we went out onto the balcony for a while. She likes to "help" me water the plants! Well I have a number of pots of Busy Lizzies on the balcony table. She asked to sit on my knees (she's only 3 years old) & when I sat her on my knees she looked at the pots & then leant forward trying to smell the flowers!!! I was laughing my head off! :-D Ha ha ha
A woman's first reaction to seeing a flower - take it to your nose!! ;-)
8 Jun, 2010
Beautiful roses and brilliant pics of Conker, Truffle and Crocus in his bath lol, this blogs going on my favs.:~))))))))))).
8 Jun, 2010

Roses are all looking beautiful TT, Conker and Crocus looking very handsome and a veritable rainbow of watering cans, I could use Conker to come along and help with all the watering at the moment.
8 Jun, 2010
Oh dear forgot to mention Truffle, looking good too.
8 Jun, 2010
Lovely happy blog again Tt, and what contented furry and feathered people all looking so fit and healthy. I think the first rose should be called heart stopping...stunning. I can't believe you have so many watering cans between you, does Crocus have one too? He looks a very wise bird, I'm sure he'd soon learn how to use one:-)
8 Jun, 2010
Thanks Cristina, Bob and Bornagain...
Conker and Truffle volunteer to bring their watering cans and help out in your gardens.... Crocus has a supervisory role ;o)
Please pay in budgie millet and doggie biscuits...Lol.
Rose Heartbeat is certainly one of my favourites ...
8 Jun, 2010
The roses are gorgeous Terra and its grand to see photo`s of your handsome boys with their watering cans especially when you think back to last year. Crocus looks happy in his bath as well.
I love my roses as well although must admit I don`t know them by name, they were planted before I started keeping records, I know where to come if I need a watering can with helper........
8 Jun, 2010
Hello, I am new to this blog. I enjoyed your photos of roses. I am looking for hardy hedge roses for my garden. I noticed that some of the more beautiful roses are grown in colder climates. I suspect that since the growing season is shorter, they tend to thrive more for that period of time. I live in the Dallas Texas area where the temperature is in the high 90's and I am looking for roses that can tolerate the heat. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thank You!
Rolando
9 Jun, 2010
Hi Rolando.
Thanks for visiting my blog...
Yes, very hot in Dallas area, and if you do get rain, can often be downpours of hailstones which would soon knock petals off the roses ! Could you plant a hedge of another hardy plant, alongside a rose hedge, so that the roses get some protection from winds, storms and sunshine ?
For further advice you could put the hardy hedge roses subject on the Questions section of GoY. I hope this helps. :o)
Terra.
9 Jun, 2010
this is a lovely blog terratoonie, It made laugh and it cheered me up.glad conker & truffle are having a good time looking after the watering cans.
9 Jun, 2010

9 Jun, 2010
My Goodness, Conker and Truffle, what a marvellous can collection! You are so good, using rainwater, too! Bet Crocus doesn't use rainwater in his bath, though!
Wonderful roses, Tt! :-))
9 Jun, 2010
Hi David..
Thanks.. it does seem a good year for roses..
Are there roses at the big garden where you've been working ?
Crocus has filtered tap water in his bath.. LOL.
We have lots of stocks of rainwater ....
... and, the watering can count is going up ...
... 22 at the last stock take.. :o)
9 Jun, 2010
Love the title :-) You've got wonderful roses and a good collection of watering cans! Great to see happy doggies in the garden :)
10 Jun, 2010
Thanks Tommy...
I did think about the title for quite a while...Lol.
We have lots of fun in the garden :o)
10 Jun, 2010
No wonder you're in charge of the watering cans on Goypedia - you own them all, lol. Your Cliff Richard rose looks so good you must have another one in the attic a la 'Portrait of Dorian Grey' - same as Cliff himself has!
10 Jun, 2010
Hi Wagger...
Conker owns most of the watering cans... he should edit that GoYpedia category..Lol...
Sorry, no Cash in the Attic...
... and not exactly "Summer Holiday" weather today...
but Mister Blue Sky will be back for the weekend... :o)
10 Jun, 2010
Will welcome Mister Blue Sky back with pleasure - I used to really enjoy ELO.
10 Jun, 2010
Great blog and pix Terra, loving the bright watering cans!!!! So nice to see Conker all well again and enjoying spring in Jolly old England... Grrr.. Here in Oz we have single digit temps and rain!!
10 Jun, 2010
Conker and Truffle are going to be busy this year with all those watering cans lol. I hope we get some rain so that they can have a rest ;o)
You know the one in the first photo with Conker, well I had one like that but it was red instead of blue. I don't have it now - it broke when I moved here :o(
Your roses are beautiful !
xxx
11 Jun, 2010
Hello Hywel..
Seems like your wish has been granted and LOTS of rain this week, so Conker and Truffle can have a rest... ;o)
The blue and white can [ in the first pic. with Conker ] isn't a very strong design.... sorry to hear your can broke... :o(
Hi Pip... Glad you like the pix and watering cans...
This week many parts of the UK have the same weather you are getting in Oz !
Yes, Wagger,.... we need Mister Blue Sky back again. :o)
11 Jun, 2010
Conker is looking very dapper and well turned out Terra. He brushes up well. This week the doggies can have a rest from their watering duties. I hope it rains a bit more and I can have a rest too.
11 Jun, 2010
Hello Dorjac ... Thank you :o)
I hope the rain means you have a rest ...
... or shall I send Conker and Truffle to help you ? ;o)
11 Jun, 2010
Great Blog! TT. It made me laugh, especially as my granddaughter asked me recently: why do you have so many watering cans Nan? Pitty you hadn't written your blog when she was here, I could have shown her your pictures and she could have got the answer from Conker, why all those watering cans. But then I dont have quite so many. Beautiful roses and love your budgy but then I love all birds, that reminds me, Titches weekly bath day tomorrow. Does she love it!!!
11 Jun, 2010
Hi Titchy..
So glad you like my blog... I hope you'll get a chance to show it to your granddaughter next time she visits... Good luck with the weekly bath time. :o)
11 Jun, 2010
Lol Terra...You always make me smile with your blogs :-D
12 Jun, 2010
Hi Cazzalyn... Thanks...
I'm pleased you like this blog. :o)
12 Jun, 2010
lovely blog TT
12 Jun, 2010
Thank you Donna.... I hope your budgies are well :o)
12 Jun, 2010
I think it's about time you treated yourself to a new watering can my girl as you don't appear to have anywhere near enough for your garden!!
Lovely blog TT and the dogs look cute as ever:o))
12 Jun, 2010
LOL Oddbillie... Thank you...
A few days after this photo was taken, we bought two more watering cans at the charity dog show car boot sale...
What's the official name used for a Canine Collector of Watering Cans ?
CanCanologist ? ;o)
13 Jun, 2010
Beautiful roses TT...the dogs are looking good too! Lovely to see Conker looking so well. Does Crocus get outside on warm days? ......
(Home from work and the internet IS working!! Things are looking up!)
13 Jun, 2010
Hi Pottyg... Thank you :o)
That's great news that the internet is behaving itself for you....Lol.
Crocus doesn't go outside but he has a good view of the garden where he can watch Gromit and Dougal ;o)
13 Jun, 2010
You're very brave having something called Cliff Richard in your garden.
Hope he doesn't disturb you too much by breaking into song when the rain starts?
13 Jun, 2010
TT, just been flicking back thriough your blogs and in the last picture is your `Iceberg` rose growing through your clematis `apple blossom`. My `apple blossom` looks very scraggy at the bottom - it seems all top growth - and was considering a rose or clematis to grow through it - would appreciate your thoughts.
14 Jun, 2010
Your roses are so beautiful I can almost smell them from here and what well trained dogs doing all the watering for you with their many coloured watering cans ..great pictures .
14 Jun, 2010
Hi Weedling ... Cliff is very positive...
sings about Summer Holiday. :o) Lol.
Hello Stroller ...
My Clematis is just the basic Armandii ... I don't think it's the Apple Blossom, but they have a similar growing habit...
You can prune them quite drastically, but it would need to be done quite soon, to give the Armandii time to prepare for next year's blossom...
It is nice to have the roses blooming when the Armandii blossom has finished...
I have Rose Iceberg one end of the pergola and Rose Arthur Bell the other end...
I hope this helps... :o)
Thanks Jeansusan ...
I'm lucky to have such eager helpers ! Lol.
14 Jun, 2010
Hey Terra... I solemnly hereby awardeth you in sound mind the "Terratoonie" award for 100 comments on a blog LOL
21 Jun, 2010
You'll have to invent bigger awards than that as on some blogs she has had several hundred! LOL!
22 Jun, 2010
I've decided:
100 - 'Terratoonie'
200 - 'Truffle'
300 - 'Conker'
400 - 'Crocus'
500 - 'Watering Can'....
any ideas??
23 Jun, 2010
Look at 'Waggie Tails into Winter' Pip c - 1101 comments so you need at least one more - the Millenium massive?
23 Jun, 2010
:o)))
start thinking up ones for 600, 700, 800, 900.....
24 Jun, 2010
Love your photos....Beautiful roses and your boys are adorable.
25 Jun, 2010
This is a very serious matter Pip, lives may depend on it. I have therefore given it my utmost attention. Perhaps after the 500, your awards should just go straight to 1,000plus, although I'm afraid there's only one Goyer who has to my knowledge achieved that distinction. I think that in view of this you should keep the TERRATOONIE AWARD for 1,0000+ and find a new title for the 100 award, may I suggest 'flower pot' ? I've only managed 30+:-( Hope this has been of some help, we patriotic Goyers must do our bit:-)
25 Jun, 2010
Thank you for your thoughts on this life and death matter Ba. You are quite right to suggest the Terratoonie award for 1000+ so I have changed my settings accordingly :o)
i'm thinking about 'flower pot'...
26 Jun, 2010
Oh! Truffle and Conker! my..how nice it is to see two very healthy, happy looking fellows smiling and having such fun!...and what lovely "other roses" you have in your garden as well! Everything is looking absolutely gorgeous TT..Big Love and Hugs...~Cat...xxx and x to Crocus too...and a chirrup n beak rub too...
29 Jun, 2010
What beautiful dogs! And the garden doesn't look bad either :-)
29 Jun, 2010
Thanks everyone :o)
I haven't been able to be on GoY much lately ...
.. but I'm writing a new blog
... coming up soon ...
29 Jun, 2010
Terratoonie:
Great blog! It's great to see Conker doing so well again! The garden looks terrific too! I love those roses! : > )
2 Jul, 2010
Hi Delonix... Thank you ...
Conker seems very well ...
In the UK it has been a very good year for roses ...
... climbers and smaller roses all doing very well ... :o)
3 Jul, 2010
Terratoonie:
I can tell it's been a good year for roses...they look flawless. : > )
My neighbor's many roses have been severely attacked by worms for several months this year.
3 Jul, 2010
I think I've also helped my roses by being brave enough to prune them more than I usually do !
Not heard of roses being attacked by worms in England ...
... do the worms attack the rose roots ?
Black spot disease on the leaves is a common problem in the UK...
3 Jul, 2010
What kind of worms are you talking about? Those that live in the ground & which we call earthworms or the type that climb all over the leaves & eat them, then later become butterflies, which we call caterpillars?
Earthworms are beneficial for all plants in the garden, though they are not much loved on ornamental lawns for their casts (little hills of soil scattered all over the grass) whereas I have never heard of any caterpillars that eat rose leaves here in the UK.
We do have a bee that cuts out half circles in a few leaves but it doesn't seem to harm the bushes. The bee uses the semicircles of leaf it cuts out to line its nest.
4 Jul, 2010
Ah ha ha ha TT you are just toooooooooooooooo funny for words!!! And I absolutely LOVE Conker and Truffle, they are soooooooooooooooooooo CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
18 Aug, 2011
Thanks for the info. Balcony :o)
Hi Sgbabe ... Thanks...
Conker and Truffle just love their watering cans ...
I think their collection has grown even since last year...Lol. ;o)
18 Aug, 2011
They would have needed them, too! Especially during the 3 months drought we had this year!
It has rained a little here today. Seems to have finished for the day (night?) though.
18 Aug, 2011
Hi Balcony...
You might get more rain for your allotment over the weekend ... if not, I'll send along Conker and Truffle with their watering cans. :o)
19 Aug, 2011
Thanks for their help, if I should need it!
19 Aug, 2011
can you believe it this time last year we were on about no rain - what a joke ! lovely blog Terra - love all the cans lol and your sweet dog :))) 61 likes too WOW !!!
