Earlier this week a virus attacked me :o(

… so now I know exactly how a computer feels when it gets a virus …

… really DOWN … Lol.

I didn’t feel well enough to comment on GoY …

I’m sure I’ve missed lots of good pics and blogs…
… I’ll try to catch up next week …

These are recent photos from my gardens …
………………………………………………………………..

FRONT GARDEN

Looking from Berberis and variegated holly across to aubrieta and rockeries of spring flowers …

…………………………………………………………………

The yellow broom is the first shrub I grew from a cutting years ago … it has survived being dug up, and moved to another house/garden … lol. … still growing strongly …

…………………………………………………………………

Prunus Oku Miyako …
… the blossom loves to dance in the sunshine …

………………………………………………………………….

BACK GARDEN

These Houseleeks were kindly sent by Gee19 …
… now sprouting lots of lovely new babies. :o)

…………………………………………………………………..

Growing near to the back fence … Photinia Red Robin, Kerria japonica, and Exochorda macrantha “The Bride”

…………………………………………………………………..

CHARITY DOG SHOW
Last weekend, we had fun at a dog show in aid of homeless dogs …

Conker enjoyed performing, and he won Best Tricks class … we hadn’t been to a dog show for 7 months …
… his hair is growing back very well since the chemo …

… Truffle was lively and happy during his first place win in the Best Six Legs class ! :o)

……………………………………………………………………

Happy gardening …

… bring on the sunshine … ! :o)

14 May, 2010

hiya terra glad you are feeling better .loved the pics of your garden, have those orange poppies flowered yet i sent you last year.conker and truffle are looking very perky. do you think conker is over the worst now ? i do hope so.

14 May, 2010

Hi Clarice...
I shall be back on GoY a bit more next week... Being unwell, I've loads of jobs to catch up with. I hope Smokey is doing okay... You look after him so well...
Some parts of my garden are easy to maintain.. others not... Some of the climbers are in rather awkward places to reach for me to trim them ! xxx

14 May, 2010

Hello Tulsalady..
I scattered your orange poppy seeds around my garden and am waiting to see what grows ! A couple of other GoY members also kindly sent other colours of poppy seeds, so I'm not yet sure what is what ! Lol. Thanks for much for sending them.

Conker still has only a one in ten chance of remaining free from the lymphoma cancer, but we are treasuring every moment, and I pray every day he is a one-in-ten dog. xxx

14 May, 2010

Sorry to hear you ve not been well Terratoonie, glad to hear you are well again lol about the computer : O )

That is brilliant that Truffles won give him a big hug from me, also to Conker for looking so great, 1st prize to him too in my books.

Your garden looks beautiful all in bloom so colourful. Well done with the broom its lovely and what a house leek looks so pretty. Love the blossom too.

14 May, 2010

Sorry you havent been well terra, Your garden pictures are so beautiful I love the pot of sedums great arrangements with the green ones around the edge, Conker and Truffle look really happy and healthy and nice to see you are able to get to the Dog Shows once again ;0)

14 May, 2010

Your photo`s are lovely Terra, the rockeries are really lasting well this year and your shrubs look smashing as well. Pleased you are feeling better, I take it that means you are ok for your next performance ,lets hope the weather is good although as its also The Race for Life on Sunday we dont want it too warm...Conker and Truffle look so handsome, is it the angle of the photo or is Truffle taller now ?....

14 May, 2010

Hello Sixpence...
... the virus made me sleepy... no wonder our computers get sluggish when they have a virus..LOL.

Conker won with his Supernanny tricks, so both dogs had a first prize rosette, and each won a bag of dog food ... so all even. No one-up-dog-ship. Is that a word ? Lol. Glad you like the blossom. :o)

Thanks Pansypotter...
Gee's sedums have grown well haven't they.
Yes, lovely to be back at some dog shows... my dogs enjoy those days out so much... and for good causes..... There is a show this weekend raising funds for a little autistic boy who needs extra tuition...

14 May, 2010

Thanks Lincslass...
I think one good point about this cooler weather is that the rockery plants have stayed in bloom for longer. Don't know if others agree ?

Truffle is slightly taller, but in the pic, Conker is a bit downhill of him...

Yes, let's hope the weather is just right for those in the Race for Life. :o)
How is that Brynner ? Is he racing around, digging ??? ;o)

14 May, 2010

Thanks Marguerite...
I'm looking forward to Gee19 seeing the pic of her houseleeks.. They are cute little plants.... Do you have any of those ?

Yes, HUGE font for those of us with tired eyes..LOL.
My dogs send you a big <<<hug>>> to Queensland. :o)

14 May, 2010

14 May, 2010

Hi Yorkshire... How are you ?
yes, thanks. I'm feeling more perky, but I still get tired ...
When writing this blog I accidentally included a bit of even BIGGER font...
which I amended...LOL.
Maybe I'll put a bit of HUGE FONT in my next blog...
.. nice and easy to read isn't it...:o)

14 May, 2010

Hi Tt, glad you are feeling a bit better, I am not so bad thanks, yes I do like this big font, maybe we should all use it on our homepage, as you say its nice and easy to read, you take care hope you are soon 100% again.

14 May, 2010

14 May, 2010

Sorry uv been Poorly TT im glad ur back & feeling better Jacxxx

14 May, 2010

Hi TT. Glad you are better, your garden is beautiful as all the others have said. I feel quite envious as my garden is small really. I also like the arrangement with the house leeks, especially the red one in the middle. I have several different green ones and a red one that doesnt get as big as yours, but they are great aren't they. Lovely photos

14 May, 2010

No holes today Terra, it was much more fun to run off with my hand tools, admttedly he brought them back when I asked but kept running around me before giving them back.LOL..

14 May, 2010

Enjoy your weekend Terra and hope you raise lots of money, as you know its a very familar cause with me!

14 May, 2010

Tt - thought I was having an eye test when I read your blog ! Hope you're on the road to recovery now. Beautiful photos of your gorgeous garden and dogs.
You haven't missed anything outdoors, weather's been so chilly !

14 May, 2010

Thanks Pansypotter... yes that charity is a very good cause !

Hi Holly.... Thanks. I keep forgetting to tell you that your mallow seedlings are growing strongly :o) ..... not sure whether anything is going to grow from the other seeds... [ coreopsis and white osteospermum ] There's only one seedling appeared in each pot... and I might be growing individual weeds...Lol.

Hello Jac.... Feeling better thanks... just sleeeepy :o)

Thanks Cinderella...
Pleased you like the photos. My gardens aren't all that huge... and your garden is pretty ... If my houseleeks keep on breeding maybe I can send you some baby ones.. :o)

Lincslass... seems Brynner is definitely going to be a gardener.... Gardeners' World TV show could do with some new helpers...Lol.

14 May, 2010

So good to have you with us again,Terra, sorry to hear you have been so poorly!
Lovely blog, as always~your garden looks wonderful, and congrats to Conker and Truffle, on their success in the dog show~it's so good to see Conker looking so well again, after what you have all been through. Your 'boys' are looking sooooo goooood! Lovely to have you back with us!! :~))x

Hello Megley...
eye test: .A
..............BC
.............DEF
............ghijklm

You're right about the chilly weather. This afternoon I tried to work on some plants in pots outdoors and I had to keep returning to the kitchen to warm up !
I'm pleased you like the pics... How are you getting on with your "new" name .. ???
Is Megan pleased to have her name back to herself again ? ;o)

14 May, 2010

sorry you've been poorly but the gardens been busy without you! and conker & truffle seem to be having fun :o)
I've been taking a spoonful of Manuka honey everyday for the past 2 years and I think its boosted my immune system -- just thought i'd pass it on a friend suggested it to me and I think it helps:0)

14 May, 2010

I would like that Tt, thanks. When you have time

14 May, 2010

Oh! TT, so sorry to hear you've been poorly, I wondered where you had got to. Glad you are recovering although I know how these viruses can be very debilitating. Still the only way is up now. Lovely photos, the house leeks are looking splendid, very picturesque. The boys look very proud and happy. Pam yes, Manuka honey is great for the immune system, keep taking it.

14 May, 2010

By the way TT keep that virus to yourself. LOL.

14 May, 2010

Coincidence your suggesting Manuka honey Pam... Arlene very kindly bought some as a present for Conker when he was low from his cancer last year...
and one day this week when I was feeling extra-poorly, Conker let me have a spoonful of honey from "his" jar .. and it did make me feel better ! :o)

Yes, everything in the gardens is growing !

Hi Sandra...
I seem to be replying in reverse order all of a sudden...Lol..
Glad you like the gardens... Would you like to borrow Truffle while I catch up with my sleep ? I'm sure he and Casper could have some fun together..LOL.
xxx

Hi Flori.. Thanks for your kind words. :o)
My dogs were pleased to both have red rosettes and first prizes last weekend.... The dog food Conker won is called "Fusspot" for fussy eaters.. and Truffle's food is called "Bad Hair Day" Lol. xxx

14 May, 2010

Just good to have you back with us, Terra :~))xxx

14 May, 2010

Hi again Cinderella...
I'll certainly send you some houseleeks later in the year.
If you look back in my blogs, you can see a poem "Houseleek Babies" which I sent with little houseleeks I mailed to Dawnsaunt... Will you be requiring a poem too ? Lol.

Hi DoctorBob...
Conker, Truffle and Crocus send hugs to Mrs. Tommy.

I'm keeping the virus all to myself.... be assured... not even giving the virus to my computer... except that the virus does make the blogs come out in BIG PRINT. Lol. xxx

14 May, 2010

Glad you are feeling a bit better Terra. Your garden just seems to get better and better and Conker and Truffle are more handsome than ever!.....:o)

14 May, 2010

maybe you and conker should go back on the manuka :o)-- I daren't stop taking it !( I buy sainsburys own)

14 May, 2010

Oh but of course TT. !! Many thanks

14 May, 2010

I wondered what had happened to you Terra, I`m sorry to hear that you`ve been poorly but I`m glad you`re well again. Well done to Conker and Truffle at the dog show, they obviously enjoy their time in the limelight. Your garden looks wonderful, I`m quite envious. I love the photo of the houseleek, I can just imagine it as a picture on the wall. :o)

14 May, 2010

Poor you TT there seems to be a lot of viruses at the mommnet going around!! Gardens looking Fab. I have never seen a more prettier houseleek, so symetrical fabulous. Conker looking fantastic and so is Truffles.

14 May, 2010

Sorry you have been poorly, at least the garden carried on without you including the weeds too?? Now you have work to do, but a day at a time.
I agree with Great, that houseleek looks amazing and so does your garden. About Manuka honey, I had a shocking cough a couple of years ago and it lasted months so I purchased Manuka and it got rid of it within a week, I wished I had known about it earlier ! Take care.

14 May, 2010

Hi Dylandog...
Thanks. I feel that next week I won't know which garden tasks to tackle first !
A good thing I'm feeling fitter and that I have Conker and Truffle as my garden helpers.. Lol. :o)

Okay, Cinderella... a poem will be written...
I recently sent Stroller some Erigeron... for her poem, I had to find rhymes with "Stroller" and "Ron" lol.

Hi Sandra...
Yes, thanks, I'm starting to feel better now...
Pleased you like my gardens and the houseleeks pic. :o)

14 May, 2010

Not only have you had a virus....you've got GREEN FINGERS! Lovely plants and garden TT!

Hope you are feeling better, and a furry Conker....his face looks much better too. Truffle looks remarkably well behaved for a Fox Terrier!

x x

14 May, 2010

Hello Great.... Yes, there are a lot of viruses around...
Conker and Truffle and the houseleeks all say thanks to you for your kind words.... Lol.

Hi Grandmage....
Yes, I must pace myself getting back into garden work...
The Manuka honey does seem to be a magic potion...
for dogs and for humans... :o)

14 May, 2010

Hi again Tt - I am feeling liberated now that I'm Shirley and don't miss that cat food at all, do miss sleeping most of the day though ! Megan is busy catching mice, when she's actually awake ! Take it easy in the coming days, don't overdo it in the sunshine. : o ) )

14 May, 2010

Hi Meg... er Shirley...
Glad to know you've been weaned off the cat food ...
... and you were making far too much noise on that scratching post ! :o)

Yes, I'll try not to work too hard... not easy when so many jobs need doing all at once ! xxx

14 May, 2010

Hello Pottygardener..
My replies are getting out of order again..
blame the dreaded virus...LOL.

Thanks. Pleased you like my garden...
Conker is getting more furry by the minute, and yes, the face is healing well....

Don't be fooled by Truffle the Trouble.... he stands very well-behaved until the judge approaches and then starts wagging his tail and then his rear end, and by the time the judge is near, Truffle's whole body is one big wag...Lol. xxx

14 May, 2010

i would look after truffle any time Terra, but i understand when your poorly its hard work as much as you love them ;o)) x

14 May, 2010

LOL....:o))

14 May, 2010

Hi Sandra..

~ hope you all have a happy and successful weekend!

14 May, 2010

Thanks Janette and Arlene :o)

14 May, 2010

Hi TT, so pleased your now virus free and are switched on, just like your computer :) I haven't been on GoY for a few days and am hopelessly out of date. I have been gardening, bowling and attending various village events. I am amazed at how well behaved those houseleeks are, so neat and organised! Mine are haphazardly running around the gravel beds. You must train them like Conker and Truffle :) Your front garden is stunning.

Glad to hear you had an enjoyable and successful charity dog show too.

14 May, 2010

You have a beautiful and colourful garden TT
The two dogs look as if they're enjoying the show. Conker looks really well now, and I'm glad his fur has grown back.
I hope the virus has left you. It's nice to have you back commenting. xx

14 May, 2010

Sorry to hear you have been poorly and so glad you are better, love your garden, well done to Conker and Truffle best in show I'm sure x

14 May, 2010

Terratoonie:

You have the most beautiful flowering gardens I've ever seen! It's spectacular!

14 May, 2010

Hi Terra, I was wondering where you were I thought that maybe you were on holiday. These viruses really knock you about don't they. Your garden is looking so colourful. Take care and hope you get fully fit soon :-)

15 May, 2010

Hi Gee...
I'm pleased you approve of my obedience-trained houseleeks LOL.

Thanks Hywel. Glad you like my gardens.
My virus is gradually going away... :o) xxx

Hello Neellan... Thank you..Conker and Truffle really enjoyed their day...
They are always Best in Show to me . Lol.

Hi Delonix. Praise from you is praise indeed.
I'm delighted you like my flowering gardens. :o)

Hello Richard ...Holidays ? What are holidays ? Lol.
Yes, the viruses are very debilitating...
...but I'm feeling a little better each day.. :o)

15 May, 2010

15 May, 2010

Hi Jane/BB...
Thanks on behalf of my gardens and dogs..Lol.
Sunshine is forecast for Monday. Yay ! :o) xxx

15 May, 2010

TT, the shrubs are looking good - I think its great seeing an overall view - and the spring rockery plants are beautiful. Conker and Truffle are so photogenic they make a lovely couple and you can see why Truffle won the best legs competition.

15 May, 2010

Thanks Stroller..
All of my shrubs seem to have survived the cold winter... some maybe benefited from the low temperatures...
Conker loves the dog show tricks class ...
... and, yes, Truffle is very proud of his legs..LOL. :o)

15 May, 2010

gla dthe mallow seeds are doing well TT.... hope the others get going for you.... : O ))

15 May, 2010

Hi Holly..
Mallow seedlings are very happy... I think I am growing individual weeds in the other two pots..LOL.

15 May, 2010

arrr i hope not TT.... dont know why they havnt grown....mind you my seeds dont always come up.... mallows are quite strong plants so hope they continue to grow... : O ))

15 May, 2010

Very pleased to hear that you are recovering from the horrible virus....due no doubt to your two furry companions.....who are both looking amazingly fit and well. Congratulations to them both on their rosettes!!! Your garden is still looking lovely and the best medicine you could take is a nice long sit in it, hopefully in the sunshine...lol...Take care xx

15 May, 2010

Hi Alice...
Thanks for looking in on my garden photos.
I'm more perky now... and very lucky to have Conker and Truffle as my garden helpers... it is just too much gardening for one person..LOL. ;o)

Sunshine is on its way.. :o) xxx

Your garden is very colourful - thanks for the tips re aubretias a while ago. I am planting them with a little lime - will see if I get better results.

Take care while your recovering! :)

15 May, 2010

Thanks Denise and Rachelsmum...
Good luck with growing the aubrieta...
... let me know how you get on... :o)

16 May, 2010

Well, I'm glad the lads were on top form for the show and that you were well enough to provide the extra two legs! Lots of rest while you're getting back to 'top form', I reckon you were run down from all that scrubbing and building though the garden is looking superb after your hard work. xxx

16 May, 2010

hope your on the mend now TT your garden looks amazing... the dogs looked very happy too

16 May, 2010

Hope you are feeling better today love the garden and Conker and Truffle look great.

16 May, 2010

Hi Wagger....
I didn't manage the rest today, because there was another charity dog show.... but SUNSHINE, and more winnings of rosettes and dog food ...all in aid of a very good cause, so I hope the show raised lots of money..... xxx

Thanks Viv1.... it is a great time of year for British gardens with blossom everywhere.... and, yes, I'm so pleased to see both my dogs very happy :o)

Hello Mavis.... How are you ? I'm feeling much better thanks, and Conker and Truffle say hello and thank you. :o)

16 May, 2010

Well done, the boys!!!!!!!!! Tell Truffle he should be proud of your legs too xxx

16 May, 2010

Today's show there wasn't a 6 legs class, but Truffle won a rosette and dog food for 3rd place in the Waggiest Tail class... or was that Waggerest tail...Lol.

Conker came first in tricks... he enjoyed himself so much...
won yet more dog food, and a nice dinner dish... xxx

16 May, 2010

I don't think any other competitors get a look in when Conker is around, lol, and for legs and tails there seems to be no beating Truffle either. :-))))))

16 May, 2010

Oh no, Tt! When I saw the title, I thought you had had another PC virus! Sorry to learn that it was YOU who'd got it :-(.

Glad to read that you're better now. Your boys are looking fab, they are so clever, and deserve their prizes!!! Great, colourful plants you have there, too.

16 May, 2010

Hi again Wagger...
I'm just waiting for the rest of Truffle's body to be equally as well behaved as his legs and tail...LOL.

Hello David... Thanks. It is so wonderful to have both dogs looking well, and out enjoying themselves...
... and I managed to NOT infect my computer with my virus..:o)
Love to you and J & E. xxx

Thanks Cristina... feeling a lot better now :o)))

17 May, 2010

Your garden is looking so lovely Tt and you are on the mend:-)) I wondered where you were. Lovely to see you all enjoyed the show and Conker and you and Truffle triumphant again:-))

17 May, 2010

Hi Bornagain...
I hope and yours are well ... ?
Feeling fitter here thanks, enjoying my pets and looking forward to some sunny days in the garden. :o)

17 May, 2010

We're all fine here Tt, may you all have many many sunny days in the garden. There's not a lot I can do in the garden at the moment, makeover should be complete in about 2-3 weeks...then my work really starts lol:-)

17 May, 2010

Yes, when that makeover is complete, you are going to be very busy !
I hope it all goes according to plan :o)

17 May, 2010

Enjoyed your blog very much, great pictures of your garden. One soon gets behind with gardening, especially this time of year when there is sooo much to do and one should not have to be poorly, but these things happen. I know - I was fighting cancer this time last year, but I am so much better and slowly getting there with the gardens. Gardening is such a wonderful pastime which is great it makes one forget all the nasty things that happen. Take care and stay well also those beautiful dogs of yours.

17 May, 2010

Thank you ...
I'm so glad you have fought the cancer, Titchy...that's great you are feeling better ...
Conker's coat is growing back well after the chemo, and I'm so hoping he will be one of the "one-in-ten" dogs where the cancer doesn't return.

Yes, gardening is a great way of forgetting your troubles ...
... good "thinking time" Lol.

Thanks for your kind wishes. :o)

17 May, 2010

Both boys are looking fab TT ... & so is your garden. :o)

18 May, 2010

Thanks Fluff...
We've missed you on GoY.. x

18 May, 2010

That's nice of you Terra - thank you. I've missed being here.x

18 May, 2010

:o) x

18 May, 2010

Hi Tt - welcome back. :-)) Love the garden photos!

Well done all of you for the rosettes...especially the 'legs'. LOL. Suggestion - if you have your shorts on, don't try pinning your rosette too far down....OUCH!! ;-O

20 May, 2010

Hi terratoonie. Sorry to hear you have been poorly, there are lots of strange bugs going round, coughs etc, I brought a chest infection back with me from Lanzarote a week ago and now on 2nd lot of antibiotics and steroids. I blame the volcanic ash, after all, it's got to come down somewhere!?
Great to see conker looking so well, and Truffie obviously enjoying himself.
My garden is coming along nicely and now have lots of birds in my garden which is really lovely to see, they've been a long time coming. The frost took a few plants, but not as many as I thought. Out next week to buy some bedding plants, really enjoying it, and now we finally have some good weather, it is now a pleasure again rather than a chore.
Take care and hope you are feeling better. xx

20 May, 2010

Thanks Sh. pleased you like my garden photos.
Definitely shorts weather this weekend :o)

Hello Jean... I'm feeling fine now thanks... sorry to read you are needing antibiotics to fight infections...

Yes, Conker and Truffle are well and enjoying the fine weather. That's good to know your garden is coming along so nicely ... and that the birds enjoy it too ! xxx

21 May, 2010

Pleased you like my garden....

I will be more on GoY next week. :o) xxx

22 May, 2010

Sorry to hear you've not been well. The garden is looking great and pleased to know that the dogs are doing well

22 May, 2010

Hi Pips...
I'm feeling fine now thanks.
Good to know you are also in better health...
Lots of projects planned for my garden this summer, and yes, delighted to have my dogs enjoying my gardens and charity dog shows.. :o)

23 May, 2010

You can have another to add to the pack Tt as Sian has just nicked the last rosebud. She has systematically picked them off as soon as I left her for 5mins alone. So not a good start to the day plus on my knees trying to take pic of Geum Bell Bank before sun is too strong, tried everything and all pics are rubbish. Just hope the day improves :~((

23 May, 2010

Hi again Pips..
Warn Sian she'll get prickled sneaking those rosebuds ! ;o)
Lend her to me, and then Conker will teach her how to push a toy lawn mower. Lol.

Good luck with your photography.
Lovely, warm day here...
I must tackle more varnishing and painting soon....

23 May, 2010

I'm sorry I missed this blog TT - I've been away for a week with my sister, son and girlfriend. Your talking of painting and varnishing is a good sign that the virus has gone elsewhere! Your colourful garden, Conker and Truffle are all so beautiful !!

26 May, 2010

Well done Cris with your horse !

Yes.. Conker almost died from cancer in 2009 ...

He is now in "durable remission" ...
...the vets can't promise an actual cure ...
